Wike, who was once Amaechi’s Campaign Director, also alleged that the governor allegedly sold a power plant in the state for $140 million and used $33million of it to sponsor APC presidential primaries in December last year while another N75 million was spent funding APC visit to Chatham House London.. Wike further alleged that in May 12, 2014 Amaechi released N5billion for the failed monorail project with another N1 billion spent on the same project last December while N2 billion was purportedly spent on the establishment of mega transport terminal. Wike challenged Amaechi claims to be fighting corruption and asked the governor to show the world any project he executed or completed last year, despite the huge internally generated revenue base of the state which average is about N8billion monthly. According to Wike, Amaechi planned to invade Obio/Akpor during the elections so as to perfect an alleged APC rigging scripts because Obio/ Akpor boast of more than one million voters out of the 2.8 million registered voters in the state. The former chairman of Obio/Akpor local government council accused the governor of not fulfilling his promises to Obio/Akpor people such as the building of a model secondary school in the area while several roads in the area are impassable due to neglect. The rally which has a carnival mood featured performances by various Nigerian artistes while actors and actresses from Nollywood addressed the rally. The Rivers State PDP Governorship candidate said the lack of accountability in the Amaechi administration explains why he is fronting for known cultists to take over the administration of the state. He noted that the Rivers political leadership and the followership have jointly resolved never to allow another corrupt administration to emerge from the outgoing Amaechi’s corrupt regime. Also speaking, National Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus alleged that the outgoing Rivers governor had procured Army, Naval and Police uniforms to be distributed to his political thugs from the state, and others imported from the north, to ensure that they rigged the election if it had been held on February 14. He said the same procurement of uniforms was carried out by APC governors, adding that the plan of the APC was to plunge the nation into needless crisis. Secondus said despite APC’s evil machinations, President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP will win the forthcoming elections. Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara, who also graced the event, said Amaechi failed the people of Rivers State by merely squandering their resources with no projects on ground to show. Also at the rally was former governors Peter Odili and Celestine Omehia. https://wethepeopleofrivers./2015/02/19/a-peep-into-amaechis-wastage-still-owing-n112-billion-to-banks/ |
A PEEP INTO AMAECHI’S WASTAGE.Still Owing N112 Billion to Banks ]A PEEP INTO AMAECHI’S WASTAGE.Still Owing N112 Billion to Banks Posted on February 19, 2015 by wethepeopler Campaign Times Are Bringing Out Hidden Information About Management Of The Finances Of Rivers State By Gov. Rotimi Amaechi Who, According To His Bossom Friend And Confidant, Nyesom Wike, Allegedly Misapppropriated N300bn The lid is gradually being lifted on the management of the finances of Rivers State by Governor Rotimi Amaechi as Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who had been his bossom ally and confidant, has alleged that the governor cannot account for N300bn belonging to the state.Wike said Amaechi had mismanaged the money, out of which he also alleged, N11billion was allegedly given to Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to finance his campaigns. Amaechi, The UNION learnt, had been pencilled down to become Chief of Staff to Major-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, in the event he becomes president. Wike, who is also PDP governorship candidate in Rivers State, further said that Amaechi’s administration is the “most corrupt regime in the country”, alleging that the governor had between January and November 2014 squandered over N298billion that accrued to the state from the Federation Accounts and loans obtained from various commercial banks. Barrister Wike further alleged that Amaechi had between December 2014 and January 2015, through the Government House and the Office of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, expended N11billion, believed to have been channelled into the Buhari Campaign Organization. A statement signed by Wike’s media aide, Simeon Nwakudu, and made available to The UNION, quoted the governorship hopeful as speaking during the Rivers State PDP Governorship Campaign Rally in Port Harcourt Local Government Area last Tuesday. Barrister Wike said that the massive corrupt expenditure of the over N300billion just for 2014 and the first month of 2015 excludes the internally generated revenue of Rivers State, which has been pegged at several billions of naira monthly. Giving a breakdown of the alleged mass corrupt practices by the outgoing governor, Barrister Wike stated that between January and November 2014, the Amaechi administration received N185billion from the Federation Account. He added that within the same period under review, the administration took loans from Zenith Bank, Guarantee Trust Bank, Access Bank and Fidelity Bank totalling over N112billion. Wike said: “These are facts duly obtained from government sources. They are not newspaper reports. They are authenticated facts of revenue received by the outgoing government of Rotimi Amaechi. Before the people of Nigeria, this is the most corrupt administration ever seen in this state. This is an administration that has short changed our people. “From the details of expenditure at our disposal, these funds have been used to sponsor opposition activities and the campaigns of General Muhammadu Buhari. Most of the monies were channelled to non-existent or non functional projects, with the funds pocketed by the outgoing governor. For instance, Amaechi paid N500million for a non-existent new bridge in Abonnema. He paid N2billion for the Trans-Kalabari road where nothing has been done by his administration. For the Port Harcourt Centenary celebration, Amaechi expended almost N1billion and he released N1.7billion for the production of international passports”, Wike said. He added that the outgoing administration expended N330million for the protection of Rivers State from terrorism. Also speaking at a rally in Obio/Akpor, Wike, who described Amaechi as a hypocrite, further said the governor lives outside what he says publicly. According to him, Amaechi takes N800million monthly as special impress while in May 2014 the governor allegedly took N1billion from the coffer of the state government for court cases against the Rivers State Government. Wike alleged that the court matter does not exist. Wike further claimed that in January 2014, about N6billion was released for undisclosed projects at the Government House. https://wethepeopleofrivers./2015/02/19/a-peep-into-amaechis-wastage-still-owing-n112-billion-to-banks/ |

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TONY BLAIR DENIES MEETING WITH MUHAMMAD BUHARI IN LONDON Former Prime Minister and UK envoy to the Middle East, Tony Blair, has denied meeting with the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari ( AKA Buhari) in London, weekend. It has been confirmed too that Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State claimed that Gen Buhari was not in any meeting with Tony Blair is true, rather the former head of state Muhammad Buhari aka Buhari checked into a London hospital for medical checkup. It has been confirmed too that APC photoshoped a photo showing Tony Blair, Buhari, Governor Amosu of Ogun State and former Kwara State Governor, Bukola Saraki. NewsDay Reporters London contacted Tony Blair’s office and got confirmation that the former Prime Minister did not had any meeting with the APC candidate in the name of Muhammad Buhari aka Buhari. In an e-mail response to NewsDay Reporters inquiry, Sally Paterson, Senior Media Manager at The Office of Tony Blair, said: “ Mr. Blair did not had any private meeting with General Muhammadu Buhari in London, she also express frustration about the level of FABRICATED NEWS flying in NIGERIA.” She lamented too that Tony Blair was currently returning from Sebia where he attended peace talk meeting . It will be recalled that Fayose had claimed the photo of Buhari meeting with Blair was photoshopped, that is the true picture of the news . In a statement by his Special Assistant on Communication and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said, ”Without doubt, it is obvious that these cabal in the APC are trying so hard to deceive Nigerians on Buhari’s health status. That’s the reason they have been using ‘Photoshopped’ pictures to defend their lies on Buhari’s UK trip. ”First, they used a March 5, 2013 picture, claiming that Buhari was taking a walk in London on Thursday. Later they came up with another poorly cropped picture of Buhari with former British Prime Minister,Tony Blair. Drag Obasanjo to court for violent conduct, LP tells PDP By Hassan Zaggi, Correspondent, Abuja Labour Party (LP) has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to charge President Olusegun Obasanjo before a competent court for violent conduct. The advise is sequel to Obasanjo’s tearing of his PDP membership card, recently. In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, a copy of which was made available to Saturday Independent in Abuja, Friday, the LP described Obasanjo’s action as inimical to the peace and orderliness of society. Ajulo who is also a constitutional lawyer, argued that the membership card which Obasanjo ordered the ward chairman of the party to tear was not his private property rather that of the PDP, which, according to him, he is expected to return when he ceases to be a member either voluntarily or by expulsion. “What Obasanjo did by asking his collaborator in the person of the ward chairman to tear up his membership card of the PDP amounts to violent conduct. The card is the property of the PDP and not that of the former dictator. “What any reasonable person is expected to do is to return the card to the lawful owner on the cessation of your membership. “For instance, you work in your media organisation. When you are leaving whether you were sacked or you resigned, you are expected to return the ID Card to your employer and not to resort to self help either because he is owing you or you disagree with him,” the legal practitioner further explained. Ajulo said he wondered what example a supposed elder statesman like Obasanjo was showing to the younger generation when he could so brazenly and willfully destroy the property of another entity. “Look Nigerians should not look at it as something small. That card confers on you the membership of a political entity, the PDP. Today people will say is it not just a piece of paper? Tomorrow it could be a car or tearing of posters of people that disagree with him. We are hear expressing worry over violence and inciting conduct, the Obasanjo card tearing episode is a classic example,” the LP scribe further noted. He, therefore appealed to the political class to watch their conduct and guard against utterances that could spur their supporters to violence during and after the elections in March and April. http://dailyindependentnig.com/2015/02/drag-obasanjo-court-violent-conduct-lp-tells-pdp/ |

Boko Haram Shares Leaflets In Adamawa, Condemns Abubakar Shekau Adamu Yau, a resident of Gombi said: “A helicopter flew over when we saw flyers falling from the sky. We rushed to pick them and found out they contained message from Boko Haram written in Arabic, Hausa and English." Gen Bali also came out to see some leaflets on the floor with an indication that book haram are planningto lay down their arms. Coomander olukolade said even if that is true that the army shall continue being on the offensive to destroy the boko haram. Sometimes some of us who have never had any experience in business and governance quickly assume that things get done in governance with a toss of the fingers. When we talk about Boko Haram and Shekau, We are talking about a terrorist group that adopts a guerrilla system of operation, not as if to say they have a known base. Well let's analyse some facts. Osama Bin Laden inflicted the most gruesome attack on the United States of America that cost the life of over 3000 people in just one day. It took the USA (the most advanced country in the world in terms of science, surveillance, technology and military might) ten good years to hunt him down and kill him. Today after over 15 years, the USA is still battling the Al Qaeda and have lost over 2000 soldiers and suffered attack on USA people and property home and abroad. As of today, the USA and the rest of Europe super powers are battling ISIS for over one year now with no tangible success or neither has the leader of ISIS been found. To cut the story short, China with its economic and military might are still battling over 20 years with the cessesionist militants . Russia is still fighting the chechenya militants. Columbia is still battling the FARC rebels. Sudan is still battling the Al shabab. The USA and European nations are still fighting the Taliban, Al Qaeda, etc. And in Nigeria, a President is making good efforts despite the unwillingness to cooperate on the side of the northerners, unwarranted criticisms from the opposition, and insults from citizens who know little or nothing about governance or warfare. I deem it very unfair for people who sit in their office with petty ideas of how things should go, to insult and ridicule the genuine efforts of the President and our gallant military men. Credit must go to these people who bear the pressure, who make the decisions, who suffer the burden, who hears the gunshots, who crawl in the bush day and night, who see people die and knows what it truly means to die. No credit to those who sit at the comfort of their offices, with pen and paper criticising the genuine efforts of those who truly know the meaning and pressure of warfare. God bless us all and God bles the Federal Republic of Nigeria...... - Rtd. Gen. The Dollars has vigorously increased against the Naira now making room for people of Nigeria to start inciting extremist and abusive comments against the administration of today and then doubting the sincerity of the economic system of today. Any currency is being valued at the level of exportation and importation of goods in a country and also the level for exchange of currencies. If your importation is very high probably due to projects being carried out by private and public institutions or companies the currency is devalued or will painstakingly fall. When your currency rises: your currency will rise when you have a large tourist attractions making tourists to visit your country very often and now demanding a high increase exchange of currency notes or bills thereby your currency rises against the standard value and an increase in exchange rates. What about the case of Nigeria? For the case of nigeria we mostly experience fall in Naira during december and festive seasons because of the high demand for importation of food, cooking utensils, electronics etc. Why has the naira fallen so low? You know that Nigeria is in a critical development stage in our democratic system and we have elections coming up and people are afraid of unknown events that may come up. The politicians that owns businesses no longer wants to invest in any business idea for now until the election becomes a history in Nigeria there are monies and lots of monies being thrown into the election, i dont want to start calling names its not part of why i am here. The foreign investors are also afraid of losing their money to war breakout, there are still fears that war may breakout in Nigeria. And another reason is the politicians that are sending their kids and families abroad for security reasons. What are we to do? As for me i will direct that question to the politicians cause the opposition party and the Apc are still the same corrupt human beings inhabitting the parties that have only their personal interest at heart but my suggestion is that don't put every blame on the Federal Government we have a collective responsibility to ensure that things go well in our country called Nigeria. We can try by putting our country first. Let me be sincere i am an Apc supporter we Nigerians are all corrupt we should work on ourselves first before trying to correct another person's error, like the saying goes the spec in another man's eyes and the log in your own eyes. Am trying to be as unbiased and impartial as possible. Thanks. Thanks for coming Prof. Bolasayo! It's my pleasure |
Floor of the Nigerian Senate The development may come as a huge surprise to many Nigerians, following the cordial relationship enjoyed by the Senate and the presidency, compared to that of the green chamber (the House of Representatives) which was recently sabotaged because of individual political ambition and personal interest. READ ALSO: APC Calls Elections Postponement Setback For Nigeria The Cable reports that the Senate at its plenary this morning approved amendments to the 1999 constitution as recommended in the submission of the constitution alteration bill brought forward by the state houses of assembly. The current amendment now stipulates that the president will no longer be needed to assent to a bill before it can become law if the national assembly has already approved it. Meanwhile, Senate President David Mark onFebruary 17 dismissed allegations about the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) plotting to form an interim government. Some senior officials fear that after the postponement of the general elections there is a plot to form an interim government. Meanwhile when obasanjo spoke to bbc he mentioned that there is no such thing as interim government in the constitution and the allegation is a farce. www.naij.com/387523-senate-strips-president-of-power-to-assent-bills.html |
New Chairman of Communication for the African bishops, Bishop Emmanuel Badejo of Oyo, says that African values are under threat of an “ideological colonization” aimed at destroying the family. Bishop Emmanuel Badejo The cleric laments that that the United States explicitly showed that they would not help Nigeria to fight insurgency unless the country makes its laws regarding homosexuality, family planning and birth-control milder. The 53-year-old made this known to Alien. When asked about Boko Haram activities in Nigeria, Bishop Badejo said: “If we knew all of the precise answers regarding Boko Haram, it would have been over a long time ago. The truth is that from our reflections, findings and experience with the people who have gotten involved with the brutality and violence of Boko Haram, it’s a whole mixture of things: all the vices of administration in Nigeria from the past, the corruption, the bad administration, the lack of attention to the youthful population, the lack of attention to the important pillars of democracy such as educating the people, especially in the northern part of Nigeria. NORTH FEARS REVOCATION OF OIL WELL LICENCE, WANTS JONATHAN TO BE REMOVED AT ALL COST. on February 4, 2015 | 0 Comment News SNN OPINION AMID a raging debate on the Petroleum Industry Bill, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Business and Rules, Senator Ita Enang, on Wednesday, said that 83 per cent of oil blocks in the country are owned by Northerners. “There should be equity and federal character in the allocation of oil blocks in this country. Eighty- three per cent of all present oil blocks are held by northerners,” Enang said on the floor of the Senate, without any of the senior lawmakers contradicting him. Enang, representing Akwa Ibom North-East (Uyo) Senatorial District, therefore demanded a review of oil block licences in the country even as other senators from the South urged him on. Enang’s disclosures came a day after the debate on the Petroleum Industry Bill had split the senators along North-South lines. The senators held a rowdy session as those from the north stoutly opposed the provision of 10 per cent Host Community Fund in the bill. The provision requires operating companies in the Niger Delta, home to Nigeria’s vast oil resource, to pay 10 per cent of their net profits to the fund for the development of the communities. Strengthening his submission, Senator Enang gave a summary of major oil blocks vis-a-vis their ownership. Enang said Cavendish Petroleum, the operators of OML 110, awarded to Alhaji Mai Deribe of Borno State (North East), makes an average of about N4bn monthly. He said, “Seplat/Platform Petroleum, operators of the ASUOKPU/UMUTU marginal field has Prince Sanusi Lamido (not former CBN Governor) as a major shareholder and Director. “South Atlantic Petroleum Limited (SAPETRO), was established by Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, who is also the Chairman of ENI Nigeria Limited. SAPETRO partnered with Total Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI) and Brasoil Oil Services Company Nigeria Lomited to become operators of the OPL 246. “AMNI International Petroleum and Development Company is owned by Alhaji (Colonel) Sani Bello of Kotangora, Niger State. They are operators of OML 112 and OML 117. “A former Petroleum minister and former OPEC chairman, Rilwanu Lukman, another northerner, manages AMNI oil blocks and with very key interests in the NNPC/Vitol trading deal. “Oriental Energy Resources Limited, a company owned by Alhaji Indimi, runs three oil blocks: OML 15, the Okwok field and the Ebok field. “Alhaji Aminu Dantata’s Express Petroleum and Gas Limited operates OML 108. “OML 113 allocated to Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum Limited is owned by Alhaji. W.I. Folawiyo. “OPL 291 was awarded to Starcrest Energy Nigeria Limited, owned by Emeka Offor, which was sold by Starcrest to Addax Petroleum. Emeka Offor still has a stake in Addax operations in Nigeria. “Mike Adenuga’s Conoil is the oldest indigenous oil exploration industry in Nigeria with six oil blocks; “Alhaji Saleh Mohammed Gambo’s North East Petroleum Limited is the holder of the OPL 215 licence. NOREASTER Petroleum was awarded blocks OPL 276 and OPL 283 and closing thereupon a Joint Venture Agreement with Centrica Resources Nigeria Limited and CCC Oil and Gas. “INTEL is owned by (Abubakar) Atiku, Yar’Adua and Ado Bayero and has substantial stakes in Nigeria’s oil exploration industry, both in Nigeria and Sao Tome and Principe. “These need to be looked into, revoked and re- awarded. The Federal Character which is a principle applicable in every aspect of our national existence should also be brought to bear in the application of our oil blocks, marginal fields and prospecting licences.” Enang’s disclosures came amid a consensus among the lawmakers on the need to let the bill sail through second reading, while further legislative work would take care of the contentious issues. Enang, who spoke in support of the PIB, also argued for the retention of the 10 per cent host community fund, adding that it did not amount to an additional derivation. Speaking also in favour of the bill, Senator Chris Anyanwu (Imo East) said the bill would address the issue of ccorruption http://supremenewsng.com/news/north-fears-revocation-of-oil-well-licence-wants-jonathan-to-be-removed-at-all-cost/ |

Speaking also in favour of the bill, Senator Chris Anyanwu (Imo East) said the bill would address the issue of ccorruption in the oil sector] http://supremenewsng.com/news/north-fears-revocation-of-oil-well-licence-wants-jonathan-to-be-removed-at-all-cost/ |
That's why Jonathan is by all means has gathered hatred to himself by ill minded politicians There will be a bidding process to be held some months after election |
Feb. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Nigeria, Africa’s biggest oil producer, won’t award new oil exploration licenses until lawmakers pass a reform bill now being considered, Department of Petroleum Resources Director Osten Olorunsola said. “You need firm commitment and firm predictability of the law,” he said in a Feb. 21 interview in Abuja, the capital. “We have to wait for the bill to be passed.” The Petroleum Industry Bill, first sent to the National Assembly in 2008, didn’t become law during the tenure of a previous legislature and was reintroduced by President Goodluck Jonathan in July. Fiscal provisions in the bill seek to raise Nigeria’s share of revenue to 73 percent from 61 percent, Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke said on Sept. 28. Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Exxon Mobil Corp., Chevron Corp., Total SA and Eni SpA run joint ventures with the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. that pump more than 90 percent of the country’s oil. The West African nation last held an oil licensing round in 2007. “The major concern is that oil production has remained virtually stationary over the past few years due to the lack of investment in the sector which partially reflects the uncertainty surrounding,” the bill, Samir Gadio, a London-based emerging-markets strategist at Standard Bank Plc, said in an e-mailed reply to questions today. Stagnant Investment Companies including Shell and Exxon Mobil have criticized the fiscal terms as likely to make investment in offshore oilfields unprofitable. Most have held back on funding more exploration while Shell and ConocoPhillips have sold some of their onshore assets to Nigerian companies. Bonny Light Crude, Nigeria’s top export grade, gained 0.1 percent to $115.35 by 11:19 a.m. in London, the lowest since Feb. 21. Oil exports account for more than 90 percent of the country’s export earnings and about 80 percent of government revenue, according to the Petroleum Ministry. While the major energy companies have “toned down their investments” and shunned exploration because of uncertainty about the new law, smaller producers are increasing drilling activities as they seek to boost output, Olorunsola said. Companies including London-based Heritage Oil Plc and Lagos-based Neconde Energy Ltd. bought stakes in Nigerian oil fields jointly owned by Shell, Total and Eni. Oando Plc, a Nigerian energy company, purchased the local unit of ConocoPhillips. Smaller Producers “A lot of that is coming from all these indigenous companies that are buying assets from Shell as well as some success from some marginal field holders,” Olorunsola said, referring to areas producing volumes of crude too low to be profitable for bigger companies. “We had about 10 rigs, much more in comparable terms and timing in 2012. And that just shows the success of all these divestments.” Forty-seven oil rigs were operating in the country’s Niger River delta region in the fourth quarter compared with 37 a year earlier, according to the Department of Petroleum Resources. Nigeria’s crude oil reserves were down 1.9 percent to 36.5 billion barrels in 2012 from 37.2 billion barrels a year earlier. Average daily oil and condensate output stands at 2.6 million barrels, according to the regulator. To contact the reporters on this story: Elisha Bala-Gbogbo in Abuja at ebalagbogbo@bloomberg.net; |
I AGREE A 100% WITH SENATOR CHRIS ANYANWU ON THE 10% HOST COMMUNITY FUND. IT'S AN EMBARRASSMENT ON OUR CONSCIENCE THAT THIS HAS TO BE A SUBJECT OF DEBATE. COMMON SENSE IF THE NORTH, SPECIFICALLY, THE OIL WELL LICENSE OWNERS ARE AFRAID OF THE LICENCE REVOCATION AT THIS PERIOD IN TIME; I WOULD CALL A LACK OF BUSINESS INSIGHT. I WOULD CALL THEM BUSINESS MEN IN DELIRIUM, SLEEPING ON THEIR BUSINESS FORECAST AND TAKING THE PEOPLE FOR GRANTED. HERE ARE MY REASONS; A CHILD HAVE CARETAKERS CONTROL HIS ESTATE UNTIL HE GROWS UP, BECOMES AN ADULT AND ABLE TO HANDLE THAT WHICH IS HIS. NIGER DELTA OIL BELONGS AND ALWAYS BELONGED TO NIGER DELTA WHERE GOD PLACED THAT RESOURCE, BUT BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T MATURE ENOUGH AT THE TIME OF THAT DISCOVERY HAD STRANGERS PLUNDER THAT WHICH BELONGED TO THEM AND NIGERIA. NIGER DELTANS AND THE SOUTH ARE NOW AWARE AND KINDLY ASKING TO SHARE (NOT TOTALLY TAKE OVER EVERYTHING) AND SOMEBODY IS AFRAID OF WHAT NOW? AND DID DANJUMA HAVE THE EFFRONTERY TO ASK FOR THE ARREST OF THE YOUNG MEN ASKING FOR WHAT IS THEIRS; (I AM WITH TOMPOLO IN DEMANDING FOR AN OFFICIAL APOLOGY FROM DANJUMA OR OTHERWISE........) IF DANJUMA IS A SAVVY AND JUST BUSINESS MAN, WOULD ANYONE TELL HIM TO MAKE HAPPY THE PEOPLE, WHOSE WEALTH HE HAS PLUNDERED OVER THE YEARS FOR HIS SELFISH ADVANTAGE? THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT COLONIZED NIGERIA ALONGSIDE MANY OTHER NATIONS AROUND THE WORLD, MADE THEMSELVES HAPPY WITH THEIR HOSTS NATURAL RESOURCES BUT THEY GAVE AT LEAST WESTERN EDUCATION, WHICH TILL DATE IS APPLAUDABLE; THAT THEY KNEW TO GIVE BACK SOMETHING IN EXCHANGE TO TAKING THE PEOPLE'S WEALTH. NIGERIAN OIL PLUNDERERS SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THIS LESSON FROM BRITAIN AND OTHER COLONIAL MASTERS, TO AT LEAST GIVE SOMETHING BACK TO THOSE THEY REGARDED AS THEIR ECONOMIC SLAVES. SO THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOW FOR OCCUPATION AFTER THEIR EXIT. WELL EVERY COLONIAL MASTER LIKE BRITAIN LEFT WHEN THE PEOPLE DEMANDED THEY DO. THEREFORE EVERY OIL WELL LICENSE OWNER HAVE TO RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSE BECAUSE THE RIGHTFUL OWNERS OF THE ECONOMIC PROPERTY WANT IT SO. THEY ARE ASKING FOR NEGOTIATIONS WHICH LEAVES THE FORMER OWNERS IN A GOOD PLACE. BUT WHOEVER IN WHATEVER UMBRELLA; CALL THEM NORTH, EAST, SOUTH OR WEST THINKS IT WOULD BE OTHERWISE; SHOULD KNOW THAT THERE'S MORE COMING. THE VERDICT: YOU WILL REALIZE LIKE SENATOR DANJUMA GOJE THAT TIMES HAVE CHANGED; THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN; YOU EITHER LISTEN TO THEM OR GET RELEGATED TO THE SIDELINE, THEREFORE MUST COMPLY WITH THE NEW CONDITIONS. I AGREE A 100% WITH SENATOR CHRIS ANYANWU ON THE 10% HOST COMMUNITY FUND. IT'S AN EMBARRASSMENT ON OUR CONSCIENCE THAT THIS HAS TO BE A SUBJECT OF DEBATE. COMMON HUMAN SENSE TELLS YOU, YOU FEED THE HANDS THAT LABOR FOR YOU; BUT THIS TIME, IT'S CALLED GIVING BACK TO THE LAND THAT ENRICH YOU. THE 10% HOST COMMUNITY FUND IS NOT NEGOTIABLE. WE SHOULD ALL REMEMBER THAT ALL THE MINERALS IN THE NORTH SOLELY BELONG TO THEIR HOST COMMUNITIES. THEREFORE WE MUST NOT SHIFT FROM THE COMPLETE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS 10% HOST COMMUNITY PROPOSAL. FINALLY REVOCATION OF THE PREVIOUS LICENSES IS A DONE DEAL, WITH OR WITHOUT PRESIDENT JONATHAN. THE SOONER THE OIL WELL LICENCE OWNERS ACCEPT THIS, THE BETTER FOR ALL AND SUNDRY. TO EVERYTHING IN LIFE, THERE'S A BEGINNING AND AN ENDING. THEIR ECONOMIC OCCUPATION OF THE OIL WEALTH HAD A COMMENCEMENT DATE, AND FORTUNATELY, JUST GOT EXPIRED. WHAT'S THERE TO FIGHT AND STRUGGLE ABOUT; THE RICHES THEY EM MASSED, ISN'T ENOUGH JUST YET? THERE SHOULD BE FEDERAL CHARACTER REPRESENTED. WHEREBY, NOT MORE THAN 25% OF OIL BLOCKS GO TO A PARTICULAR REGION. EAST, WEST, NORTH AND SOUTH RESPECTIVELY. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS WOULD BE THE BEGINNING OF MOVING NIGERIA FORWARD AS A NATION WHERE ALL THE CITIZENS ARE RESPECTED AND HAVE SENSE OF BELONGING. ESTHER CHIKERE. |
