I'm a fresh graduate of Physiology and I'm presently serving in the NYSC. As God would have it I as posted to the state hospitals management board who should have posted me (along side other physiologists) to hospital but they decided since our role in hospitals was not defined. It was very dis-heartening when we heard their claim.

Eventually, some of us were posted to hospital to handle health implements such as the ECG machine which was only found in one or two hospitals there. While others were ask to remain at the Board for other administrative duties.

I contacted some other colleagues of mine serving in other states and majority of them were sent to secondary schools to teach. Biology and Chemistry... That's serious.

It's quite despicable that a course like Medical physiology has no defined function in Nigeria. **sobbing**

I witnessed this too, I remember this guy was sleeping in the hostel while others were try to carry out 'environmental sanitation', it was the shovels and cutlasses that was used to kill the snake, Seriously, I felt like stoning this guy as he laid on the bed, after hearing that there was a snake under him. The longer it took him to realize we were not joking the harder it was for us to trace the snake.. (Thanks to the weapons of snake destruction he saw us carrying (stone, sticks and even a shovel).
One wonderful corps member even said I was shouting too much ( aah 'smh').

Anyway it was all fun, may I use this chance to hail every survivor of that Ikare Akoko, especially if you were in Male block 1, Batch 13A..

Thing could have been better, besides the snakes in camp saga (about 4 snakes were killed actually, which I saw, don't ask me how), there was also a saga of the bees on camp, which started from male block 1..'Smh'.

thanks guys.. actually, I've been nursing a place like Canada or the U.S in mind, but from recent findings it seems so hard. Nigerian websites are not even helping issues as I've heard stories of many who were duped big time. I studied Physiology, a very interesting course I can't help making reference to everyday. But a Masters or an MBBS is desired.

I am a Nigerian graduate preparing to go and serve, I'm not satisfied with my course and level of degree (although I had a good grade) neither am I satisfied with furthering edu. here in Nigeria. I need to study abroad any advise would be welcome. thank

well some schools in Nigeria would require that you do the youth service year for direct entry, you can checkk the UTME brochure for that info.

I am a graduate of physiology too, but having read all this posts and comments, I'ld say not all of then are totally -always- true. You tend to be boxed up in such cases mostly when your grades are poor. To present Physiology students or any other Basic Medical Course, Please try to understand the course you are reading, its not a proffesional course, but rather a study course .. its not such that you finish and make money by getting employed in a bank or hospital straight away.. those guys who can use their grades to get into Medical school, I do encourage, for those whose grades are not good enough, enroll for a masters course.. an perhaps continue in research or lecture, for your information ..lecturing is not a small cake o..you could make a fortune there too. For those who move out into other fields, no hurts, if you're satisfied.
