Not partly, totally untrue.

None of these girls are rejects because none ever aspired to play for the US team. It's not like football where they waited for the US to choose them and then switched when. It wasn't going to work.

Were they skilled enough to have been considered for the US team? No. But they were never rejected cause they didn't aspire to do so. Most of these players literally joined our program out of college. Someone asked Temi Fagbenle who plays for Great Britain and the Indiana Fever why she isn't playing for Nigeria. She said she actually reached out and wanted to but nobody responded.

I think the player you're trying to remember is Musa.

Totally agreed. Yes Musa.

Expected result. No team can beat the US.
It was a mission impossible from the start.
Kudos to the girls and the coach Wakama

It's not impossible though. They just need to have a bad run and you capitalize.

Simply put, it is theirs to lose. You cannot win by outplaying them.

It is also partly untrue. Albeit a small part. I know that Ifunanya started from MFM. There's another there I cannot recall her name

The Nigeria coach tried. Her service should be retained.

Most of our schools dont have basketball courts. We dont have any coach too in both primary and secondary schools.

There are local girls that could be inspired to start early but they dont even have electricity or cable to watch.

So frustrating

Even if you did all these, you will not beat USA. All the ladies you see there started playing early.

It wasn't a callous decision. That is exactly my point. It was taken in her best interest and that of the nation. Should she have been carried along, absolutely! If she wasn't why? There is a reason to that, and Favour herself knows.

The Olympic error was a grave mistake that shouldn't have happened, but after that the federation has been accountable.
Stood by Tobi and fought tooth and nail for her during her trying times. Tobi now knows better!

Talou got injured running the 100m and missed the 200m. Shericka, Pryse etc did not even participate. Did they die? There are ways to handle things! Peace brother!
This na why Joebie go dey question whether you really dey yankee. Cos why you go dey reason like this na? Na athlete she be oh, no be Nigerian army she join.

Olympics is not national service. That thing na Naija mentality or some of this Asian countries like China and Russia wey their government dey see am as achievement. Na why those countries dey spend plenty money on athletes.

If you want her to see it as a service then you people should spend on her they way China dem dey do na.

What story is not true? You really think Herve will come down on his salary demand? Herve knows his worth. He has never taken Naija seriously.

The salary demand was just a subtle way of making it cost prohibitive for Naija. If he wanted the job, he would've reduced it.

Politics / The Defence Flag, The Presidential Standard And The Russian Flag by JohnBullMySon: 10:45am On Aug 06
It's baffling how many Nigerians do not understand State Symbols.

The first picture is the Defense flag. It is the flag of the Nigerian Armed Forces. It is displayed in functions that involve the entire armed forces. Secondly it serves as the flag of the defence chief, used to mark where the defense chief exercises command

The second picture is called the Presidential Standard or the Flag of the President. It is used to mark a physical location where the president exercises authority and command. It flies at Aso villa and also wherever the president may be present physically. Often when the president is out of the villa. The flag is taken down and replaced with a regular Nigerian flag. By protocol the flag should not fly where the president is not around.

The third is a regular Russian Federation flag

What about hotels and other businesses that fly foreign flags in Nigeria?

Only the 2011 and 2015 laws are still active and they have clauses. Any Act or Decree before 1999 is likely not in effect.

NOT RULING TOBI OUT. HOWEVER, OFILI IS OUR MOST PROMISING GOLD MEDAL PROSPECT!

Of course, they are, however, they can only exercise that right when they reside in the United States territory-- That sums it up. PR is not US territory but a colonized State.

I do think it is because of geography. Hawaii and Alaska geographically falls within the Union of the States while PR is a separate island that can be accessed outside US control!

Ps- Just my thought/observation

On the subject

1. First, the IOC is the body responsible for determining which nations can participate in the Olympics and they have their own metrics for determining what counts as a "nation". So entities like Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), Hong Kong, and much recently Palestine are recognised as Nations by the IOC. The bar is a totally different for organizations like FIFA as these entities are in themselves not nations but territories of larger body.
Marjoribanks:
I am not discarding your point! The point still remains it is not part of the United States yet so it is independent! It is all an oxymoron! Wanted unwanted!
Puerto R wants to be part while Taiwan doesn't! US refuse! China wants to enforce! Same thing, different logic!

Puerto Rico is part of America @Marjoribanks. They all have US citizenship.

The reason I asked this was Because I found that even when Hawaii and Alaska were not yet states, status just like PR. they still competed under team USA. So why is PR different then?

Wining that 3rd quarter 23-5 certainly dismantled the Canadians.

And that 3rd quarter result is the best ever for a Nigerian basketball team (male or female) at the Olympics

They absolutely lost it. Started missing easy shots.

It is an independent country though USA claims it. Unlike Britain! Just like China do claim Taiwan!

No that is not true.

Puerto Rico has had many referendums and has always voted to remain a U.S. territory. It is not a claim by continental America like the Taiwan stuff. It is the decision of a large margin of Puerto Ricans.

The reasons they have NOT been joined as a proper state all boils down to us politics. Basically GOP knows that Puerto Rico is a Democratic stronghold and if they become a state they’ll have two senators as the constitution requires. The senate balance has become very tight so if Democrats get two free senators it will push the congress to their favor. Secondly if they become a state they’ll have college votes that will likely always go to Democrats during presidential elections.

We'll need something close to national budget to successfully plan, prepare and end if we win bid. Billions of dollars. If they have sense, that event, theoretically, can singlehandedly revive the dead tourism sector. But na big dream wey dey run pass Flash. Who wan chase am?

Hosting Olympics to revive tourism in Nigeria kinda sounds like treating a headache with surgery.

LBH, hosting Olympics in Nigeria is not practical within the next 40~50 years.
