daveP: Hosting Olympics to revive tourism in Nigeria kinda sounds like treating a headache with surgery. LBH, hosting Olympics in Nigeria is not practical within the next 40~50 years. 5 Likes |

Olympics and it’s strange ways. Why is Puerto Rico competing against America? |

robosky02: 2040 Olympics isn't far oh. They already have strong biddings. Also the financial readiness is important and it does not look good for Naija. Atm, Nigeria cannot even afford up to 1 billion USD of capital expenditure in a single fiscal year. Which means that even with our current borrowing levels, it will take 10+ years to fund the infrastructure to accommodate the Olympics. Worse still, our infrastructure is way below the standard of cities like Paris, Tokyo before they started to spend money on upgrades. Hosting Olympics will take Nigeria into colossal debt. That's even if we win it. 1 Like |

forgiveness:A lot. Lagos is overcrowded, lacks standard municipal services and most of it is unplanned. Bringing its infrastructure to global standard is simply cost prohibitive. Abuja on the other hand is a young city that isn't only better planned, it still has enough room for renovations and upgrades. 2 Likes 1 Share |

forgiveness:Lagos is too dirty, disorganized and out of shape to host such an event. Same goes for the rest of Nigerian 'cities' with the exception of Abuja. Casablanca is a big stretch but I put it there due to the commitment of the moroccoan government to capital investment in order to grow tourism in its cities. Tbh only Cape Town and maybe Jbourg look like olympic candidates. God help Africa. We're way behind. 1 Like 1 Share |

Ppogbae: Yes, Casablanca and Cape Town for example, technically might be able to host it but think about the cash perspective. Can these cities/countries or their government raise 10 billion for example? 3 Likes |

After reading some of the negative comments by athletes on the level of organization by Paris, all I can say is, It’ll be extremely difficult for an African country to host Olympics. The costs are just insane. Cities spend upwards of 10 billion to host Olympics and these are cities that are very developed already. Now imagine African cities with poor infrastructure to begin with. It’s even cheaper to host the World Cup than Olympics. 5 Likes 1 Share |

At the very least we need to pull one back in this half, this Japan team is not too formidable but the girls need to show that they can score goals first. Oh lol. looks like they've scored already. |

Zambia's coach must be very inexperienced. I'm sure he waited till Australia started to score before he tried to defend his lead. As a coach you should be able to make decisions ahead of time. Zambia had no business playing upfront in the second half. 1 Like |

ThePresenceWtf: She made a good judgement. 9 out of 10 times a freekick from that angle is a cross. As a goalkeeper you cannot wait till the ball is near you to position yourself. If she stays on the line and its a cross, there will be space for the two spain shirts in front to score. 2 Likes |

ThePresenceWtf: What was wrong with it? We were going to defend much more in the late minutes. He has to bring new attackers that use new energy in a counter attack and resting other strikers at the same time. We have another game in three days. |
Sports / Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by JohnBullMySon: 7:49pm On Jul 28 |
ThePresenceWtf: She did the correct thing. You don't stay on the line for a free kick from that angle. Putellas was likely trying to make a cross and ended up scoring. |

RickyJesus:You’re the one who hasn’t flown at all baby. If not the you won’t be making such error. The news is talking about people flying into local airports from outside Nigerian airspace and thus avoiding any passport/visa and customs checks. You can fly from Lagos to Enugu even with an unofficial ID card. That’s how porous local flights are. 9 Likes |
