Politics / Vp Osinbajo Arrives Uyo For #akwaibomat30 by johndanny(m): 12:03am On Sep 23, 2017 |
It is no longer news that Nigeria’s number two citizen will be arriving Akwa Ibom on Saturday as the state celebrates 30 years of statehood. A walk round the major streets in the state, the events of the last couple of days and the orange festivity in the air, are indicators that the state is in celebration gear. However as Prof Osinbajo arrives for the second time in less than a year, what is he expected to see? It is evidently clear that Governor Udom Emmanuel’s vision to launch Akwa Ibom State in the rare space of the big league of modernization, industrialization and wealth creation is cast in concrete. Shining testimonies to this, being the establishment of the Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Company Limited, and the Electric Metering Factory, both of which were attracted to the State through the governor’s Foreign Direct Investment Initiative. These two factories are to be commissioned by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as an epitaph of 30th anniversary of the state’s creation. Located on an 8,000 square meter of land area in Onna Local Government of Akwa Ibom State, Jubilee Syringe is a public private partnership firm owned by a Turkish-born businessman and investor, Mr Onur Kumral. The Company which is the first manufacturer of disposable Syringes in Nigeria and the whole of West Africa will literacy inject economic life blood into Akwa Ibom State without any feeling of pains. The arrival of the Vice President shall also signal the take-off of a meter manufacturing company, Metering Solutions Manufacturing Services Limited (MSMSL), which ground breaking was performed in December 2015 in Awa – Iman, Onna Local Government Area. When the technical partners from China, Pakistan and India visited the state, they confirmed through their spokesperson Mr. Zhang Loohang, that the facility is sited in Akwa Ibom because of its strategic location in the Gulf of Guinea and attributed its establishment to the passion in making electricity available and affordable in the state by Governor Emmanuel. Already, the company has employed 150 Akwa Ibomites in the administrative and technical sections of the company. Professor Yemi Osinbajo, it can be said, is arriving Uyo to witness a chip of how beautifully, Governor Udom Emmanuel has positioned Akwa Ibom on the radar of economic development and wealth creation. At thirty, Akwa Ibom is sipping the nectar of dividends of good governance with Governor Udom Emmanuel the architect of this lovable magic. http://9jaecho.com/2017/09/22/as-vp-osinbajo-arrives-uyo-for-akwaibomat30/

Science/Technology / LG Reveals The New Wall Paper TV And Is It Worth It by johndanny(m): 6:22pm On Aug 27, 2017 |
The New Wall Paper TV Is Here And Is It Worth It South Korean electronic giant LG is releasing its ‘talk of CES’ wallpaper TV displays to international markets. The ‘Signature OLED W7’ units are so thin that they can mounted in a home just like wallpaper or a mirror. The 65” model is less than 3mm thick (2.75mm), and even when placed on its magnetic wall mount only protrudes 4mm from the wall. As far as the US market is concerned the unit will retail at $7,999 (€7,422) although for that price mounting/installation is included. Although this fee will not cover any restoration of the wall if the consumer wants to completely hide the unit’s wires and connections. The display comes with a Dolby Atmos soundbar, and its own connection cable in the form of a white ribbon connector. The soundbar also provides easy connectivity for 4K Blu-ray players, and other set-top boxes.

Phones / Japan’s Largest Smartphone Company Enters Nigerian Market by johndanny(m): 4:28am On Aug 26, 2017 |
Japan’s largest selling smartphone mobile brand, Freetel, has announced its partnership with TD Mobile, a mobile devices distributor in the sub-Saharan Africa which has established its presence in the Nigerian mobile market. Freetel said that the partnership was ahead of its planned introduction of four models of its Android smartphones into the Nigerian market. The company said that its smartphones, which are certified by Google GMS, were designed in Tokyo and Japanese engineers with over 40 years industry experience supervised the manufacturing. “The GMS certification is the confirmation that a specific device meets Google’s performance requirements and properly runs the Google apps,” the Vice-President, International Sales, Freetel, Eugene Yoshioka, said. He said, “Nigeria is the market for Freetel and we are looking forward to reach out to Nigerian consumers with our latest smartphones. We plan to invest in the country with a full-fledged subsidiary to support sales, marketing and after-sales support. We are glad that we are partnering the most powerful and trusted partner in the region-TD Africa.” Industry players said that as a subsidiary of the Information and Communications Technology distribution powerhouse, Technology Distribution Limited (TD Africa) would add the Freetel brand to its growing list of international brands. “Considering its wide reach, distribution network, massive retailer base and unmatched presence in major Nigerian cities and other West Africa capitals, the partnership will see the company deploy its latest capacity in taking the line-up of products from the Freetel stable to every action in the metropolis as well as every nook and cranny in the hinterlands,” Yoshioka added. The Managing Director, TD Mobile, Mrs. Gozy Ijogun, said, “As a key driver of the technology revolution in Africa, TD Mobile has always strived to bring the latest and best of technology products to Nigeria and the West Africa region by extension. “In line with this, Freetel and TD Mobile have entered into an exclusive partnership to bring Japanese smartphones to Nigeria. We believe we can capture a major market share with the help of our extensive distribution reach and strategic partnership with operators, dealers and retailers.” http://punchng.com/japans-largest-smartphone-company-enters-nigerian-market/amp/ |

Crime / Man Watches Woman Drown To Death Cause His Phones Were In His Pocket by johndanny(m): 1:07am On Aug 06, 2017 |
A man told an Ugandan Television station that he watched a woman drown and couldn’t save her because he had his phones in his pockets. A Twitter user shared a photo of the man’s interview with the caption: “This man watched a woman drown. He said he could swim & thought of jumping into the water to save her. But he had his phones in his pockets.” The Twitter user explained that the woman who hawked handkerchiefs was being chased by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) when she fell into the river. The man was at the scene of the incident and was interviewed by a TV crew. He told the press that he saw the woman drown, but had no one to give his phones to so that he could jump in to save her. http://www.gisttown.com/2017/08/man-watches-woman-drown-to-death.html?m=1
