Religion / I'm Confused. What Should I Do About This Instruction? by johndarey(m): 5:59pm On Oct 04, 2017
Hi Nairalanders,

I just got a message from a friend seeking advice for another friend who is confused. I've tried to some words, but I would like to get deep answers from here.

Here's the message:

I have a colleague here who came to me for some advice...he says he received words that his uncle a priest is about to depart and God has chosen him to replace him, but he(my friend) doesn't feel call up to that level, but a warning came with it that he should also become a priest before his uncle dies. What do you think he can do next? Having yet to discover his potential as a preacher...

Thanks in anticipation.
Politics / Biafra FG Reportedly Uncovers Ipob's Slush Account In France by johndarey(m): 4:00pm On Sep 23, 2017
2017/09/23 14:52:41pulse.ng

The Federal Government said it has located a foreign account used by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to receive slush funds from some Nigerians abroad supporting the group's agitation.
The account, with huge deposits, was discovered in Paris, France, The Nation quoted security source sources to have said.

Some IPOB members were also said to have invaded Nigerian embassies in Hong Kong and Spain in the last 72 hours on the pretense that they wanted to renew their passports but ended up staging protests.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, had earlier accused the British and French government of aiding the pro-Biafra group led by Nnamdi Kanu.

The Federal High Court in Abuja had also given judicial backing to the executive order of President Muhammadu Buhari, outlawing the Indigenous People of Biafra and its activities in every part of Nigeria.

However, French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Denys Gauer on Friday met with the Lai Mohammed over the country's alleged link with IPOB.

Gauer was said to have assured the Federal Government that France would not support any terrorist group.

Reports said that the French government promised to take action as soon as the IPOB’s slush account was known to it.

"Intelligence gathering has led to the discovery of an account in Paris into which some Nigerians in the Diaspora remit funds to support IPOB," a top security source said.

"From the said account, funds were being drawn for the activities of IPOB at home and abroad. The relevant security agencies did a thorough job and provided incontrovertible evidence on the basis of which the government proscribed the terrorist organisation.

"These Nigerians in the Diaspora are using France as a clearing house.

"Investigations also confirmed inflows into the account from Holland, Hungary, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Turkey, Singapore and other parts of Europe.

"In fact, a football tournament was recently organised in Senegal to raise funds for IPOB.

"As a matter of fact, the account is being used to get money from a lot of people in the Diaspora.

"What many Nigerians did not know is that the Minister of Information and Culture was talking on the basis of credible intelligence report."

The source said the government will soon obtain a list of all the people remitting funds into the account in Paris.

Career / Igp Idris' Mistress Who Was Promoted From Corporal To Asp In 12 Months by johndarey(m): 3:44pm On Sep 23, 2017
2017/09/23 14:52:17

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris is not a stranger in the land of Scandals. String of scandals have followed the 19th indegenous Nigeria Police Chief. On his appointment about two years ago, there were pronounced agitation on his competence to lead the force. Prior to his appointment, the former Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase (Rtd.) already issued him four administrative querries on his incompetent performance. While battling to answer the last querry, he was called by The Presidency to take over the leadership of the force.

As a result of the corrective measures by the former IGP, Ibrahim Idris declared a blackmail war against his predecessor, accusing him of stealing over 20 vehicles belonging to the Police. Arase was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing.

Distinguished Senator Misau came up with grave allegations of massive fraud running into billions of naira being perpetuated under the supervision of IGP Idris. The allegation was not addressed, instead the police media mechinery descended heavily on the Senator, accusing him of forgery and other miscellaneous crimes. Eventually, the confirmation of the issuance of the Senator's retirement letter by the Police Service Commission, embarrassed the force to the watch of Nigerians.

There are trails of scandals. Recently, one Mr. Austine Ugochukwu Albert alleged that the Inspector General of Police accepted some bribe to compromise the case of fraud he lodged before the Police. He has petitioned the President on the allegation.

Among all the scandals, the story of ASP Amina, the alleged mistress of the IGP seem to scandalously fascinate Nigerians. In a widely circulated social media story: "IGP Ibrahim Idris in another phase of scandal", one major character was featured in the story. ASP Amina was said to have had a record promotion from a Police Corporal to Police ASP within 12 months. Though the story was denied by the psudo media pawns of the IGP, it has refused to be burried. The story resonates in every police formation in Nigeria because of the alleged unwarranted promotions.

Apart from Amina's promotions, there are plethora of other officers who have benefitted from the scandelous promotions, allegedly based on financial inducement. According to information circulating round, "the current CP of Anambara state, Mr Garba was an ACP last year and was promoted to CP within a year; Mr Ali Janga was also an ACP last year and was promoted to the rank of DCP in less than 12 months and again acting CP couple of weeks ago and was posted to replace a vibrant CP in kogi.

Mr Muawiya was DSP last year, now promoted SP the same year and CSP this 3 months ago, he is now CSO Govt house kano: Mr kolo of Federal SARS, was promoted to the rank of CSP just last year and now ACP, Surprisingly his name was among those sent to Police Service Commission for elevation to DCP".

Amina is alleged to wield such powers in the force that many senior officers are sending "returns" to her.

It is alleged that in the history of The Nigeria police, no IGP has been so beleagured with scandals as IGP Idris. Could this be a mere hatred, smear campaign or toxicity of the office of the IGP, who many believe is repositioning the force or is it the Nigerian phenomenon of "the more you look, the less you see"

Religion / '2019 Election Will Not Hold’ – Apostle Suleman Says In Fresh Prophecies by johndarey(m): 12:17am On Sep 21, 2017
Also, as Edo State prepared for the September 10th 2016 governorship election, Apostle Suleman at a church service said he did not see the election holding on the appointed date.

Subsequently, the INEC shifted the election to September 28 2016, citing security challenges.

“I see presidents being removed in Africa and presidents being installed”, the man of God declared in his 2016 prophecies.

In that declaration, Suleman also asked for vigilance as he said he saw kidnappers entering school, adding that “President Buhari’s health needed serious attention; that America and China would have major crisis.”

Nairaland / General / Osun NLC To Resist Alleged Plan Of Workers' 50% Pay Cut By Argbesola by johndarey(m): 10:07pm On Jul 03, 2015
Labour unions in Osun State have warned Governor Rauf Aregbesola to stop the plan to cut workers’ salaries by 50 per cent.

The Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress in the state, Mr. Jacob Adekomi, who led other labour leaders to address journalists on the issue said on Friday that the decision would lead to an unimaginable chaos if it was not rescinded.

The workers said although the state government had not written to inform them officially about the pay cut but they said failure to stop the plan would be met with a very stiff opposition from the workers.

According to him, the state government has concluded plans to start paying workers the new rate starting from January 2015.

Adekomi said pensioners were paid 50 per cent of their pensions for November 2014 whereas the state government promised to pay them one month during the last meeting.

The NLC chairman stated that the salaries of the majority of the workers could not provide their basic needs, saying slashing the pay by 50 per cent would send many of them to their early graves.

Adekomi said, “It’s sad to inform the public that government had resolved to cut the salaries of public servants in Osun State by 50 per cent from January 2015 and we want to unequivocally say that it is unacceptable to the entire workforce in the State of Osun. It is satanic, wicked and suicidal for any government to arrive at this position after he had failed in his constitutional responsibilities for the past eight months.

” Never will the workers accept this. The situation the state government found itself was a product of its systemic failure and any attempt to cut the salaries of workers in the state by one per cent will be vehemently resisted and will lead to unimaginable chaos.”

Adekomi said the entire workforce in the state had been loyal to the Aregbesola administration but expressed surprise at the decision of the governor to slash the salaries of workers without negotiating with them on it.

Asked if the workers would accept pruning of the workforce if the government decided to toe that line, the NLC chairman said the workers would insist on getting all their salaries and gratuities before such policy could be implemented.

The press conference was punctuated with anti government songs by workers present calling the governor unprintable names.

The NLC boss added, ” We want to place on record that as a direct result of the failure on the part of the government to fulfill its constitutional responsibility, we had lost a couple of workers in the cold hands of death, while the chairman of pensioners in the state, at a meeting with the government on Tuesday June 20, 2015, confirmed that 350 deaths were recorded among pensioners in the last four months.”

The state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Mr. Wakeel Amuda, said workers should be ready to participate in a massive protest anytime soon if the government failed to rescind its decision of the pay cut.

Efforts to get the reaction of the governor to the salary cut were unsuccessful. Telephone calls to the governor’s media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, were not answered.

Dear all,
will be goin 4 a conference in canada for which all expenses except visa application fee will be paid by the organizing body. Now trying to apply for visa, proof of financial resource of supporter and proof of means of financial support was asked for. My question nw is, will proof of financial resource of supporter cover for the two requests? If not, how do i go about the proof of means of financial support? will a statement of account from a Nigerian bank do? Since it is a week program, what is the minimum amount i will need 2 have in my bank account?

Tnx

Health / Whitening Of Teeth by johndarey(m): 12:39pm On Mar 01, 2015
I don't know why but what i observed while growing up was that naturally, no matter how much we take care of our teeth, some are simply never white. i mean the pure, shiny white. some have light yellow, others, it is just clearly yellow.

My question now is, are there ways of making one's teeth white as it is expected to be? or will it just remain like that forever?

Romance / Waiting For Marriage Committee, 4 Years On!! by johndarey(m): 7:45pm On Dec 26, 2014
Good day peeps
I was led to a lady in our campus fellowship
during NYSC, I tried
my human possibility to propose to her b4 departure, but to
no avail. There had been a Bro ahead
of me that had been privileged to
propose to her since around July whom I feel may eventually win her heart, but
because (I feel) the sister has such leading towards me too ( seen in her
actions), she has not accepted the brother.
As my doctrine applies, you must inform the marriage committee and not you
approaching yourselves directly.
But painfully, each time I ask the committee people, "we haven't asked her yet"
is what they say, & we are not allowed to contact each other on that subject.
Those that ought to make the calls are
letting me down.. I even become
ashamed of myself and my pastors
over the matter- Its about 4yrs now.Pls I
need practical ways to the solution, cos the joy and
peace that overwhelmed me then
seems to be fading.

P.s: Copied from a facbook page buh i fink comments here can help guyz in d same situation
