madjune:Not Pedro. Guess again. Another clue: He was the cadidate of SDP in the said electio but lost. The eventual winner, his major opponent for SDP's ticket and him were all indigenes of Epe. |
madjune:He wasn't the minister involved in the accident. That minister (names witheld) was a contestant in one of the most intriguing contests for the governorship of Lagos State in the third republic. Clue: D.S. RIP to all the dead. |
naptu2:It was FFK, who took over from him, that made that remark. |
Bollinger:Most are unaware that this man is a joker. Here's a report on an encounter he had with Ibe Kachikwu at the height of the fuel crisis: SGF criticises Kachikwu over fuel crisis AYODELE OLUWAGBEMI 18 MAY 2016 Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal, on Wednesday took a swipe at the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, over the current fuel crisis in the country. Lawal slammed the minister at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja shortly before the commencement of a meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. The SGF had been struggling unsuccessfully to make ministers who were busy exchanging pleasantries settle down ahead of Buhari’s arrival. Not even his announcement that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was already seated was enough to make the ministers settle down. Disturbed that the venue was still in a rowdy situation, Lawal looked round and saw Kachikwu shaking hands and discussing with a colleague. The helpless SGF then said loudly but jokingly, “Kachikwu, there is no fuel and you are there shaking hands!” While the venue erupted in laughter, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola also replied Lawal, saying, “There is fuel. It is N107.” The meeting which Lawal said would be very short is currently ongoing with Buhari presiding. The SGF announced to the ministers to keep their contributions during the meeting short, saying jokingly, “all those grammar should be avoided.” He also said the only item that would be accommodated under AOB would be a presentation by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige. http://punchng.com/sgf-slams-kachikwu-fuel-crisis/ |
Is he alighting from Keke NAPEP (Marwa)? ![]() |
dre11:French doctor? French-speaking or actually from France? She has Mamman Nur's number and has been communicating with him? What intelligence are we still looking for? ![]() |
autojosh:The road less travelled. Outstanding! |
Looks like work on the Lekki-Epe expressway is about to be extended to Eleko junction.

MMM? |
FP at last! Should have been up there since day 1. Was reading about Nazi Germany recently and was surprised to read that blacks were affected along with Jews and Roma people following the extension of the Nuremberg Laws in 1936. |

At the rate work is going on, I think the bridge would be opened within the next three weeks. I suspect the roads running beside the bridge might be opened for use first. In all, I think the work has been within time estimate. The initial projection was 18 months with the project kicking off Dec 2015. In a TV interview (available on youtube), sometime last year, an engineer said the bridge would be ready by Easter this year. So far, so good. |

Here's a recent picture of Adesina. Any resemblance? Are you sure that was the match Okwaraji died in? From the background, the stadium was packed so there's that likelihood . I also wonder why ngodigha did the introductions. Thoughts of this being a flying eagles match are cancelled by the fact that Okwaraji did not plau for the Flying Eagles and that the introductions would have been done by Ali Jeje

I think the person on the extreme left is Chibuzor Ehilegbu. |
Naptu2 posted "I'm a little bit confused by this picture. David Ngodiga is the goalkeeper. He is introducing Etim Esin to Admiral Aikhomu. Samuel Okwaraji is behind them. I'm not sure who is between Etim Esin and Okwaraji. But here's the confusing thing. I remember this match and I know that Stephen Keshi was the captain, so why was Ngodiga doing the introductions? Nigeria vs Angola (1989). Okwaraji slumped and died during this match." Naptu2, would you be willing to bring us into your thoughts? The diary section doesn't allow for contributions. I find your diary entries simulating and really love to discuss some of them but for the limitation above. Is there a way around this? Concerning the picture, the player on the extreme left is not Etim Esin. The player you are puzzled about seems to me to be Ademola Adeshina. Admiral Aikhomu really looks young in this photo. Sure that's him? I know he was a regular at the Eagle's matches. If that's him, it means we guys don old be that o! Probably means he was younger than we are now or about the same age as we are now. I also remember the match where the tracksuits were cut. It was a sight to behold. Cameroon also carried the show of shame to the World Cup where they used black markers to write their numbers behind their jerseys.

naptu2:Just before he walked to the door, he grabbed his car key. When the aroma wafted into the living room, his nose started twitching as he was drawn towards the kitchen. When he realised that his wife had caught his attention, he struggled to regain his composure |
Thanks guys. Interestingly, someone created a similar thread in this section earlier today. The thread has more pictures. Check it here https://www.nairaland.com/3718014/advert-late-90s#55180394 I got the picture I posted from a twitter post making the rounds. Naptu2, ishilove, thankyouGod, waleyp, sommyblaze |
I just came across this picture taken from an old advert. The man frowned as various items were brought to him by his wife until she brought a particular one and then he beamed with a wide grin. Does anyone remember the product being advertised? I don't. ![]() Tag naptu2, caveatemptor, ishilove

naptu2:Wow! I didn't see this earlier - would've given it a shot. Pamela's "assistant" was Danny Gwira, a karate expert and son of a Ghanaian ambassador. He had a relationship with her and a very public and messy breakup. Wouldn't want to go into further details about the two. So sad about Pamela's predicament. May God comfort and strengthen her. My sister and I referred to Mallam Danladi Bako as the "funky mallam." Debonair, suave and urbane (are those words synonyms?) he was. Yes, sir! After he was turbanned Kogunan Sakwatto, he started wearing a traditional turban (nothing wrong with that!) He contested first for the governorship position and later a senatorial seat in Sokoto State but lost on both ocassions. I've not heard about him since. He'll be 60 this year. There was quite a media hype for 'Choices' and 'Wait for me.' The brains behind the production kept the nation in suspense as to what the collaboration between Sunny and Onyeka was exactly about. Some suggested that maybe something romatic was going on (reminds you of Dbanj and Genevieve?) When the songs and videos were eventually released, some who had a crush on Onyeka must have been relieved. ![]() Pic 1 : Sunny and Onyeka in the video Other pics: Onyeka's looks about that time

Interestingly, Gani was charged with criminal defamation a number of times. Also interesting is the fact that the conviction for contempt (which led to the prison uniform brouhaha) was eventually set aside by the Court of Appeal. Vangurd newspaper while chronicling his travails reported: "On March 17, 1988, Gani was charged with Mr. Nojeem Jimoh (then Punch Editor) before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court for Criminal Defamation against government on March 17, 1988. A particularly celebrated case was when he was charged with Mr. Nduka Irabor for criminal defamation against government before an Ikeja High Court on April 20, 1988. Two days later, April 22, 1988, Gani’s 50th birthday, he was docked before an Ikeja high court, again, for criminal defamation against government. Later same year, he was before another magistrate in Ikeja for breach of the peace. The following year, in 1989, Gani appeared before Justice Fred anyaegbunam at the Transition to Civil Rule (Anti-sabotage) Tribunal, Lagos for sabotaging the Babangida transition programme, and in 1990, he was charged and imprisoned by late Justice Ayorinde of the Lagos High Court in 1990 for contempt of Court. The Court of Appeal in Lagos however set aside the judgment. www.vanguardngr.com/2009/09/military-govts-and-ganis-32-detentions/ |
