Anyone can learn programming skills and begin churning out desktop applications or desktop Games or mobile applications or mobile games on play store. Learning programming skills is not enough to get inducted & licensed as Engineer, with standard Engineering wages obtainable. Na play store apps launching and cheap labour black market things until one can stand out and hit the jack pot. It takes talented genius to stand out . Even then, a licensed professional is needed to supervise the technical output of such work to ensure it complies with professional standards.

Learning programming and churning out creative apps on play store is not enough to be licensed Engineer.

Outside skills is the basic skill level requirement to be inducted into professional vocational technical skilled trades practice. Technicians, Technologists and Engineers require further additional training to be licensed.
There is difference between technical skills artisans &
Engineer & Technologist & Technician & Scientist.
The technical work output of artisans are vetted and supervised by Technicians who are supervised by Technologists who in turn report to engineers.
Outside skills is not enough to be licensed Engineer.
Further mandatory training is needed to be licensed Engineer.

And who told you Human lives are not involved in engineering? Every artisan in Nigeria is called Engineer Mtchew.
There is biomedical engineering specialized in hospital equipments development, repairs, maintenance, etc just as there are Biomedical technologists and artisans. And at the lowest cadre, there are those artisans who learn the technical repairs & maintenance handiwork skills needed for hospital equipments.

Who told you lives are not involved in Engineering?
Although way more expensive & capitally intensive, If standard Engineering firm like Julius Berger construct your commercial or industrial building or residential district for you, 80years later sef, you are still enjoying the building.

Not all these Civil engineering structures & quack buildings built & supervised by every Tom, Dick & Harry who has learnt the skilled trades know how & parading as Engineer in Nigeria. Every technical skilled trades artisan is self styled Engineer in Nigeria .

Do you know that any building constructed by a licensed engineering firm in Nigeria with minimum numbers of Registered licensed Engineers on board of the team, is mandated by Nigerian engineering Regulatory body to engrave their engineering seal logo on the building?-a non erasable seal.

If the building collapses suddenly and technical investigation reveals shortcuts and cutting of technical corners to aggrandize profit , the license of the Engineers responsible for the collapsed building would be withdrawn .
Every technical skilled trades artisan is self styled Engineer in Nigeria. Populace do not even bother patronizing licensed engineering firms to get professional work done. No wonder buildings collapse everyday, some it’s only foundation sef they have dug and shabby construction still in progress .No technical soil tests and other professional engineering standards certification adhered to and the buildings still in construction collapse yakata just like the Femi Ikoyi high rise building of recent & the unimaginable catastrophic death toll.
