Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye alongside the APC caucus of Osun State House of Assembly paid a congratulatory visit to the brand new Governor of Osun State H.E Governor Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke at his country home in Ede. Issues related to the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government, growth and development of the state were subject of discussion.

News coming from Osun state,had it that if there's no urgent intervention from stakeholders in the state,the new governor,senator Ademola Adeleke,who was sworn into office as the 6th democratically elected governor of osun state less than 48 hours ago,may be impeached within the next 72 hours.
The state house of assembly is dominated by the opposition party(APC) who won 24 seats out of the 26 seats assembl,with PDP having only 2 seats.
Problem started when after swearing in on Sunday November 27,the governor decided to rename the state from "state of osun"to "osun state,he also sacked 1,200 workers and dethroned some traditional rulers in the state.The,state assembly,on Monday frowned at some of these decisions, arguing that the anthem, Crest and flag of the state was an enactment of a law assented to in December 18,2012 and no person can exact any change to it.

{FLASH} Osun LG Election: OSIEC Withdraws Certificates of Return, Says Commission Won’t Appeal Judgement

Following an order of the Federal High Court, Osogbo nullifying the October 15 local government election in Osun, the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission OSIEC, has withdrawn the certificates of return from the elected Chairmen and Councillors.

The commission will not also appeal the judgement.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of OSIEC, Adedapo Adejumo, on Monday.

The statement read: “Consequent upon the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo in the case FHC\OS\CS\94\2022 involving the Peoples Democratic Party VS the Independent National Electoral Commission and 6 others, delivered on Friday 25th November, 2022 which nullified the Local Government Elections conducted by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) on the 15th October, 2022, the Commission hereby announces it’s decision not to appeal the judgement of the Federal High Court, Osogbo.

“The decision of the Commission is coming against the backdrop of OSIEC’s failure to follow strictly the provisions of section 24 of OSIEC Law, 2022 and Section 28 of the Electoral Act 2022, which mandate the Commission to give a notice of 360 days before the conduct of the election.

“In view of this, the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) aligns perfectly with the decision of the Federal High Court, Osogbo as the elections stand nullified.

“Consequently, the Certificate of Returns already issued to the purportedly elected Chairmen and Councillors are hereby withdrawn with immediate effect.”

Osun State Independent Electoral Commission OSIEC, has withdrawn the certificates of return from the elected Chairmen and Councillors saying they will not appeal court judgment.

Citymirror News had on Friday reports that Osun State High court sitting in Osogbo, the capital state of Osun nullifies the October 15 Local government election in the State.

According a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of OSIEC, Adedapo Adejumo, on Monday confirmed the withdrawal of the certificate from the councilor.

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has directed the immediate suspension of the Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Mr. Segun Oladitan and the following members of the Commission;
