i'm not a fan of ambode or jimi agbaje but one thing i would love every lagosian to do is to vote for the candidate that you can trust. i'm not a fan of PdP government. if PDP should win on saturday then every lagosian should be ready for 4 years of civil unrest because past PdP government in south west was associated with thuggery and armed robbery. Ekiti state is still suffering from that till date. dont get me wrong, fayose is a very nice man but he's got hooliganism in his blood. To all my igbo brothers. your businesses are thriving in lagos because there's has been peace in lagos and babatunde fashola tried in terms of security in lagos. you can vote for PDP but there is one thing i can assure you. lagos will not be peaceful again because all those thugs that BRF had sent away from lagos will come back and your businesses will not be safe again. vote wisely!!!

this is the best comment of this topic... kudos, am voting APC

Now that's more like it. There is really no winner in a game of hatred, only temporal victories and permanent scars. I commend the Igbo leaders for this gesture, hopefully their followers will shelve their provocative arrogance in the interest of peace. No doubt,
the Oba has also learnt a lesson in public conduct and speaking. Let the healing begin.

Don Jazzy said that the Oba might have been working for Jimi Agbaje because as Oba Akiolu had threatened Igbo leaders in Lagos with death if they fail to vote for his anointed candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The death threat has been met with rebuke by the mass public as Guber elections where jsut days away.
Don Jazzy took to his Twitter page, which boast of over one million followers to raise the poser.

Politics / Re: Forgive Oba Akiolu And Move On, Buhari Tells Igbos by johnsonphina: 7:42am On Apr 09, 2015
donzubbykamal:
The president-elect, Rtd. General Muhammadu Buhari has urged the Ndigbos and other non-indigenes residing in Lagos state to overlook the anti-tribal comments of Oba of Lagos, Akiolu Rilwan.

Punch reports that the former Head of State pleaded with all Igbos in Lagos state to move on and forgive all that has been said against them for the sake of peace.
Buhari made the call during a rally held on Tuesday in Lagos to address the comments made by the Oba.
Recall that Akiolu has been under fire since Monday when he reportedly threatened the Ndigbo in Lagos to either vote for the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, or perish in the lagoon.
The Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday asked Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola to suspend Akiolu forthwith.
However, the President-elect described Lagos as home for all, adding that the time had come for Nigerians to look past ethnicity in the general interest of peace and unity.

well said my brother, this whole ethnicity started when JK started campaigning. am igbo but i will vote APC because my family became richer under the APC regime and i don't want PDP to spoil things for me

God Bless you for this post.

Lagos is somebody's ancestral home. Respect that. Igbos should learn humility and stop saying 'Lagos is no man's land', that's unfair. Imagine what will happen if Hausas populate Aba and begin to chant 'Aba is no man's home'. It's like rubbing it on their face. it's unfair. We are Africans, and we maintain strong links to our ancestral homes. Noff said. Those who have sense should use it.

Truth be told....until JK started his campaign, Lagos didn't have Igbos, Yorubas or Hausas. All she had were Lagosians. The hussles and buzzles...the hard life...the struggle for survival...from the bus conductors..to the bus drivers ...passengers...commuters...agbero...bla bla bla...they all spoke a common Lagos language...with the common Lagos sharpness...common Lagos
alertness and a common Lagos vision...the vision for a better developed, and peaceful Lagos of greater opportunities. This bond had built their drive for prosperity...from Tinubu to Fashola...working hand in hand with a very ethnic rich cabinet...made of pat utomi, joe igbokwe, ben akabueze, and a host of others, lagosians had always been lagosians. But like I said...that was until JK started his campaign.Just like PDP is known..taking devilish advantage of our differences... Religious differences on a national level, ethnic differences on a local level..and even academic differences on certain occasions...this has been the hallmark of pdp.Lagosians should look beyond these difference as always...vote for the party that has always offered the best... But keep tribal diff out of the way...because at the end of the day...everyone shares the same struggle. Let us stop seeing things from a tribal perspective.

Politics / The Truth Behind The News About Oba Rilwan Akiolu Statement by johnsonphina: 4:49pm On Apr 06, 2015
The palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has issued a statement, clarifying the Oba’s statement when Igbo leaders in Lagos visited him on Sunday.
Read full statement below.

THE PALACE MAKES FURTHER CLARIFICATION ON THE STATEMENT BY THE OBA OF LAGOS.
‎My attention has been drawn to a publication in a national newspaper where HRM Oba Riliwanu Akinolu was alleged to have threatened Igbos in Lagos to make them vote for Ambode.

Last Sunday, all honorary Eze Ndigbos in Lagos paid a courtesy call to HRM Oba Akinolu. At the meeting the visitors praised the Oba for his fatherly support for and cooperation with Igbos in. Lagos. They assured him of their continued good neighborliness with other tribes in Lagos and support everything that’ll further strengthen that harmony.

Oba Akiolu on his part acknowledged the enviable performance of Governor Fashola and his contribution to the growth of investments in Lagos. He gave the assurance that he is not disturbed or angry with South-East and South- South votes for President Jonathan as perceived by the Eze Ndigbos. The Obas thereafter called on the Igbos chiefs to show appreciation to Lagos State by supporting his candidate Mr. Ambode for continuity of excellence as they have earlier promised.
He assured them of his continued support‎ and assistance where needed and the meeting ended with the traditional breaking of kolas, alligator pepper, and bitter kola and pouring of liberation on the ground. It was within this context that that the tradition of Lagos with regard to the lagoon came up. It was noted that whoever works against the throne and the interest and peaceful co-existence of Lagos would end up in the lagoon as per tradition.

2.Oba Akiolu stated further that the Igbo people have not betrayed the throne. Lagos has also not betrayed the Igbo people. Lagos has done so much to make the Igbos comfortable and to prosper. For this, we expect reciprocal respect and understanding. The Oba of Lagos prays that the Lagoon and the throne will continue to bless and protect all those who reside and visit Lagos.

3. Oba Akiolu is the father of all irrespective of tribe, religion or political persuasion. In Lagos, we have an old traditional proverb that relates to the Lagoon. The Lagoon is unique to Lagos. The proverb stresses the need for unity and understanding when you do business in an environment and in this case when you live and do business in Lagos.
Oba Akiolu prays for peace for the land of Lagos and prosperity for all its inhabitants.

Politics / Every Group In Lagos Is Safe In My Hand - Ambode by johnsonphina: 4:03pm On Apr 06, 2015
Statement from the office of APC Guber candidate in Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode on the Oba of Lagos alleged threatening statement to the Igbos. Read below...

Every group in Lagos will be safe in my hands as governor. I will not discriminate against any religious or ethnic group. It is our Lagos and we must build it together. In my acceptance speech after the primaries I made this note that I will be a governor for all and Lagos is safe in my hands. I want to build on the foundation of unity, peace and progress and development laid by my predecessors. I am your best choice for a Lagos that must continue to thrive. And though tongue and tribe may differ we Stand in brotherhood in Lagos from the smallest ethnic groups to the major ones. We are all stakeholders.
