mctowel01:Well, i'd say IELTS is more straightforward because your writing and speaking is scored by an Human unlike PTE where everything is score by a computer which means you just have to tell the computer exactly what it wants to hear The advantage PTE has its that you get your result much quickly and can book your exam anytime as there is always enough dates and available space. I would personally say PTE reading and speaking is tougher than IELTS. Writing is easier in PTE and listening is almost the same but not just fill in the Gap as we have in IELTS. |
Been a while i posted on this thread. If you're targetting 20 points for English, i'd suggest you try PTE but it requires good preparation and determination. I wrote Ielts once and got LSRW (7.5, 8.0,8.5,7.0) which gave me just 10 points. I earlier mentioned determination because i had to write PTE twice to bag 20 points within the space of two weeks. I needed 79/90 at least in each ability and got LSRW(90, 79,78,90) in my first attempt. I went on different PTE discussion threads and almost gave up from the discouraging posts about PTE underscoring people and all sorts but i decided to shove them aside and gave the exam another shot where i finally got LSRW(90,87,86,90). Secondly, kindly ensure you go for the fast track option for EA assessment. It would cost you an additional $250 but very fast. I applied last week Thursday, got an additional document yesterday which i also submitted yesterday and got my assessment outcome this morning. Also note that your University(ranking, federal, state e.t.c.) doesnt really matter because i went to a state school. What they really check is your degree duration, transcript course content, your CDR and CPD. |

EEAA:You're welcome...guess you are fully prepared for the test...its not hard but requires full attention. Listening and writing are pretty easy but you need extra preparation in reading cos it can be very trickish. Speaking also requires fluency all through and dont bother too much about speaking on all minor details in describe image and retell lecture. Its scored by a computer and what it really wants to test is your fluency which simply means flowing all through with minimal pauses, good pronounciation and confidence. |
sizmokool:I think you should just go through the PR route as engineering work experience is not compulsory as long as you can meet up to 60 points without work experience. The only hitch you may have is finance experience on your CV when going through Engineers Australia assessment. It may raise questions. |
sizmokool:You shot yourself in the foot by declaring all your 6 years finance experience. 6 years outside your field is a lot of time and truly doesn't make sense going for an Engineering graduate degree. My advice is for you to apply for masters in project management, construction management or business administration. |
jayooh:@jayooh, Also remember to enter PTE2015 under the promo code tab to get 10% off (3680) ![]() |
america91:I guess where you're going to have a little problem is your work experience. You can go through your assessing body website http://www.aaca.org.au and see if your 6 months experience would fly. |
america91:Why spend all that money (70k$) when you can get PR directly from here and then study at your own pace or just look for a job and enjoy all benefits being a Permanent Resident has to offer. The whole PR processing expenses shouldn't cost you more than $5500($3550 visa fee + $1000 max for skill assessment + $950 to cover Ielts/PTE, PCC, Medicals and other minor things) if you're a single applicant. Go to www.border.gov.au and read about visa subclass 189 & 190. Also read through the forum and feel free to ask questions here on anything you dont seem to be clear about. |
Now i understand why so many so called Nigerian graduates are unemployable because i dont know why some people can't read and understand simple English. Govt have been owing construction coys since August 2014 yet you keep blaming Buhar on what your beloved man refused to do. How can payments be processed without a Minister of works in office to verify & sort out the required documentation(s) needed? Have a simple advise for Taniods "Go back to school" |
bellong:Resent it |
@Bellong. Been a while...how's Adelaide? sent you a PM as there are some minor things i'd want to ask about. |
Ifexsco:I think i should be able to get my employment letter reading the start of my NYSC. I have not had any former applications to Australia and won't categorically state any period as Nysc as i've been a full staff even as at then...only that i wasn't getting paid too well and also without tax and pension. I personally would prefer not to claim work experience points to avoid extra hassles if i can get up to 60 points without it as i've read on forums that processing are always faster when your CO isn't bothered about allocating work experience points as the applicants won't be required to submit additional document for proof. |
NNBB2012:The problem is that i was paid cash all through my youth service with no payslip, tax or pension statement to back it up or do you think my 6 month salary statement would suffice since its the same coy all through. Would definitely give PTE-A a go. What is the current economic situation in Australia like? Would i have to do bridging course to boost my job chances or go for a tafe diploma? Sent you a PM. Thanks |
@NNBB2012. Its been a while i've been on this Australian PR race if you remember...had to pause because i had some personal things to put in place before leaving this country which i've done. I'm a Civil Engineer with 3 years work experience(by November including NYSC) as i'm still working where i served. I also just heard EA now has a 1 week fasttrack assessment option for $900 which i'd definitely go for to save time. I've done IELTS General and got 8,8.5,7,7.5 which gives me 10 points and i'm less than 32 which also gives me 30 points...also have 15 points for my B.tech degree. My total point now stands at 55 and i need your advice on which path to follow among the 3 options i have. 1. Go for state nomination as i checked via Anzscosearch and can see about 5 states sponsoring my occupation. 2. Write PTE Academic and work hard to score 79 in each ability in order to get 20 points and just use my ielts for EA assessment only. 3. Claim 5 points for my 3 work experience which i'm skeptical because i dont have pension or tax proof for my Nysc work duration or do you think my 6 month salary statement would suffice in this regard. I heard app processing are faster, doesnt require extra work documents and hassle free when points are not claimed for work experience. Would really appreciate your advise on this. Thanks |
achinaboy:Why don't you just back off and give serious buyers space. I'm not a dealer but i can bet it with you that i've imported and used more cars than you can ever own in ur lifetime. I definitely wont pay 2m simply because i have a working brain in my head but i also won't be senseless and hungry to d extent of offering 500k even for an 07 Accord with good engine and gear talkless of an LR3. You're just a lowlife joker and like i said earlier, i would have invited you over and have my dogs bite off your balls if i was the OP. Guess you should just follow your lifelong dream, get a gun and start robbing....would pay you much better than hiding behind ur screen and typing rubbish here. |
achinaboy:Go and sleep Mr. Man. I know your type...All the fixes you've mentioned is overhyped and not even more than 200k. You should have asked OP to give you for free because you will buy a new engine, gear, tyre and air freshener for the car. If i was the OP, i would have asked you to come inspect the car make i come release Dogs chase you comot. I seriously wonder why this section doesn't have a moderator to ban hungry mofo's like you that think they can always hide behind their phone/computer screen and type rubbish. |
Hello, pls my 2006 Honda Accord revvs high before changing from gear 1 to 2 while the other gears changes normal. I changed the oil and used the approved Honda oil yet the problem still persists...what do you think i can do as i don't wish to get a replacement anytime soon. Thanks |
Hello bro, How much much will it cost me to land this item http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002MB57UI/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?qid=1437462961&sr=1-5&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=lubegard&dpPl=1&dpID=41aH4FqFNxL&ref=plSrch Would call u shortly. |
Fichdichh:Baba fear God nah! We all know how much the Toks still goes for in the market and the fact that the OP may probably be looking for a fast sale and listed his car for 1.1(which is already extremely cheap) doesn't warrant such offer. Anyone that sells a muscle for that amount is probably selling a problematic or stolen car. |
The Car is still in Sokoto right? Seeing this same car on olx for 900 with yaba stated as the location and a different contact person...can the OP pls explain this |
Sent you a PM |
You're very right, craigslist cars are always very cheap and negotiable. You're going to have a lot of peopls Patronizing you if you can proveyourself to be honest and explain much better the additional costs involved(shipping & your service charge). Would send you a pm. |
bellong:I did and thats why i said they don't accept hard copies any longer. Everything is done online and its pretty much faster than it used to be. |
bellong:Thats not right, EA assessment is now 100 percent online and all they need are scanned copies of your Original Documents including your transcript and certificate. |
gogochocolate:Hi Gogochocolate, We are almost in the same shoes because i just got my canadian PNP nomination and have just 4-5 months max to complete the whole process. The nomination wasn't expected and i already had my CDR application packaged to run my EA assessment with 10 points IELTS in my bag which gives me at least 60-70 % assurance that my Australian PR would also be granted if i continue with the process. After long research and findings via google, forums and landed migrants, i found out that the decision lies solely in your hands and depends on what you really want to do and where you project yourself to be in the next few years. Whichever one you go for would definitely pay off after becoming a citizen cos you can always get an Australian work permit with your Canadian passport vice versa. Before i proceed, i just want you to know that the KEY to settling down in either one of the two is having a qualification(diploma or degree) after arrival which may either be in your present occupation or a new occupation(no harm whatsoever in changing or switching careers as long as its going to pay off in the long term). This is a little summary from my findings: AUSTRALIA 1. Very good country and easier to land a job with your foreign qualification compared to Canada. Civil Engineers seems to be having a good time presently despite the stiffness in the engineering job market. 2. Higher minimum wage with good weather compared to Canada(living expenses are higher than canada though). 3. Schooling isn't really tough compared to Canada. 4. More online degrees and courses which makes it easier to work and study at the same time. 5. Lower tax compared to Canada(Just a little bit tho) 6. Far to other America & Europe unlike Canada. 7. You become a Citizen after 4 years thereby having access to 168 countries visa free. CANADA 1. Very strict about their local experience. A country for technicians and people who work or want to get into the Oil & Gas industry especially in Alberta & Saskatchewan. Examples of the hot occupations are Instrumentation, electrical, power engineering, heavy duty mechanic, petroleum engineering. Australia, US and other oil producing countries including Nigeria would offer you a job if you have Canadian Oil & Gas experience. 2. Stuffs like Automobiles and real estate are very much cheaper. 3. Very cold weather except Vancouver where it kinda rains a lot. 4. Easy to land a job once you go back to school to get a diploma in any technical Oil & Gas related field. 5. Comparable wages in some provinces with low tax e.g. Alberta 6. You become a Citizen after 3 years and also have access to about 168 countries. 7. Definitely more lively and much more multicultural with so much fun activities to do (the lifestyle there is almost the same as the US ) 8. Much larger black/Nigerian community. I just summarized it cos i'm on the road and can't type much. Like i said earlier, the decision lies in your hands and you can never go wrong with whichever one you choose to go. All you need is a well laid out plan and smartness...every other thing would fall in place. |
@dexterinc2003, I'm not surprised at your comment because everyone here know you're nothing but a little kid hiding behind the invisible walls of nairaland to post rude comments and talk as if they are paying other forum members to respond to your inquiries. FYI, most of the people here are professionals that have achieved in their respective careers and not low-class individuals desperate to travel. Nothing good comes easy and there is no how you can escape writing exams before practicing as a doctor...Australians won't even allow a doctor from South African certificate to practise directly talkless of allowing you with your low-class Nigerian MBBS degree. You are simply no match to doctors in western countries...so its either you prepare to study further and write the required exams or just sit your ass down here and keep maintaining your local champion status here Capiche?? |
