Anonymous, an online network known for launching cyber attacks against government institutions, has hacked the websites of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

A visit by The PUNCH to the EFCC website showed that it had been brought down completely while that of INEC opened but in the offline version.

A tweet by Anonymous read in part, “Official website of @officialEFCC has been taken down in support of #EndSARSProtest. CHECK HOST : https://check-host.net/check-report/df89d3bk838 TARGET : https://efccnigeria.org/efcc/ You should have expected us! #EndCorruptionInNigeria.”

The move was taken in solidarity with the #EndSARS protesters.

The website of the Central bank of Nigeria had earlier on Friday night been taken down but restored.



Anonymous had hacked the Twitter accounts of several government agencies, including the National Broadcasting Commission which has in recent time been criticised for its highhandedness and stiff media regulations through its Broadcast Code which increased the fine for hate speech to N5 million.

The #EndSARS protests have been taking place across major cities in the country with youths demanding an end to police brutality and killings.
Major highways across the country have been blocked thereby grounding economic activities.

One9ja is a public opinion and award winning platform. One9ja is NOT and NEVER a tool for invoking rebellious actions against any administrations. It is not a sponsor for retrogression and confusion. It is rather an advocate of bright direction, change and development. It is never a medium designed to author enmity or resentment between the masses and administrations. It is not a tool developed to sponsor and praise falsehood and prejudices. It is but a tool that advocates truth and integrity.

How it Works:
One9ja is a lightweight web and mobile platform. It is a tool for public opinion, award winning and development. The following contain details on how the platform works;
1. No Registration Required: One9ja does not allow registration of anyone on it. The platform does not give room for any person to register. It only provides room for anyone who wants to give opinion or advice on a particular issue to do that on that single page. The data collected to publish opinion is;
• Your Text Opinion: This is a text box where you would input whatever view or opinion you want to give about the particular issue raised.
• Name (Optional): After inputting your opinion, the second input is Name. This area is not compulsory. We understand the confidentiality of the people. We understand some people do not want to be attributed to their views especially on sensitive issues that pertain to governance. Since our aim is to treat issues on governance, standing the gap for the citizens and the government by creating a primary channel where masses can participate directly in government through their express voices being heard.
• Your Email: Your email address is needed for a very particular reason. One of the focal points of One9ja is to see that the masses are gaining even when their voices are heard. One9ja is designed to be profitable and this is why the platform has put in place award winning system. We would need your email so that we can notify you in case your opinion is shortlisted for public voting as well as to help us contact rightly whoever wins our award.

2. Weekly Issues: One9ja treats one issue per week. We are all determined to cause change happen and getting that is within our reach. There are so many issues in the nation that require to be addressed in conjunction with the masses. These issues cannot be treated at once. All problems cannot be solved just in a single moment, but they can be solved sequentially. This is why One9ja will prefer or allow addressing one issue per week, subjecting it to the public to express their views on how it would be resolved.
• Selection of Issues: Since One9ja stands for public interest, it will for no reason allow any form of bias or prejudices. The platform is open to the masses to submit issues around them that they would like to involve the voices of the masses on. It is now left for One9ja team to select among the list with the sight of integrity which of the issues is well valuable to the masses. Any issue is allowed to be submitted to our email address: info@one9ja.ng
• Issue for the Week: One9ja drops issue required to be addressed for the week on every Monday and it closes on every Friday.

3. Public Voting: Another aspect of One9ja is voting. We do not just randomly select or allow any view, advice or opinion for public voting without proper scrutiny. Among the multitude of views or opinions, we select just a few of them that are worth reasonable, public interest and problem-solving for public voting and send notification to the attributed via emails.
• Voting Format: Voting should be free and fair. Selected views or opinions can be voted for using email and phone number. If anyone would vote for a selected opinion, after inputting email and phone number, one9ja will send a code to vote to the email address or phone number. And it is with this code that such individual will vote. After vote is cast, the email and phone number cannot be used to vote for other selected opinions under the week issue, BUT can be used in subsequent issues.
• Ending Date: Voting ends on the midnight of every Friday.

4. Award Winning: One9ja determines to be issuing big rewards to the opinion of the week that has the highest number of votes after scaling through vigorous and strict process. The rewards are in form of the following;
• Cash Prize: There is no constant amount for winners.
• Media Recognition: One9ja publishes issue and most reasonable opinion on Punch, Vanguard, Ojuasha, TRACE Magazine etc. Using anonymous Attribution (If the winner would not prefer his or her name mentioned)
• Welcoming of Prizes from our partners. One9ja presents winners to its partners for sponsorship of any form.

5. Our Voices will be heard through ONE9JA. Our integrity and personality are protected and defended.

It is not really about reward. The reward system is to keep Nigerians motivated to be driven with the understanding that it is only our voices that can bring the change we need in the country without any illegal means.
