A clothing manufacturer is pictured taking Bukola Saraki's measurements at the 'Made in Aba' trade fair, held today at Area 11, Garki Abuja.

The Senate President said he had fun at the Fair and it was amazing to see the ingenuity and quality of Nigerian made products.

In his remarks, Saraki promised that the National Assembly would work on amending the Procurement Act by changing the word "may" to "shall" to ensure that Nigerian products are given first priority over their foreign counterparts in the procurement process.

[sIn 1984, President Muhammadu Buhari’s government notoriously despatched agents to London to drug kidnap Umaru Dikko, a minister in the previous government accused of embezzlement.

The plot was only rumbled when a customs officer at Stansted Airport became suspicious about a crate marked “diplomatic baggage” that was due to be picked up by a Nigerian airliner, and opened it to find an unconscious Mr Dikko inside.

The incident sparked a major diplomatic fall-out with Britain and saw four men jailed for kidnapping.

Today, Mr Buhari is again on the trail of alleged embezzlers, some of whom are accused of stealing billions of pounds from the Nigerian government during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

However, while one of them has already been arrested in Britain – with more arrests expected – this time he is content to let Scotland Yard pursue them on his behalf.

A peaceful protest by the Imo Chapter of NMA turned bloody yesterday after policemen shot into the midst of doctors who had embarked on a protest to the Government House to lodge their complaint over alleged impunity in Imo State Healthcare sector.

The doctors, accompanied by policemen, had marched peacefully until they got to the Warehouse Junction. But without warning,policemen, who formed a barricade ahead, fired canisters of teargas at the doctors, forcing them to retreat. Dr. Bede Azudialo, a consultant family physician, was shot in the head. He was immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital.Reports say Dr. Azudialo has been moved from the emergency unit to the Intensive Care Unit, having lost 1.5 litres of blood.

My Observations from the photos above(I may be wrong,I stand to be corrected):The pictures showed Dr Azudialo in a relatively stable condition.I can not see any head injury.From the pics that surfaced yesterday,doctors were struggling to stop head bleeding with the head covered with bandage.To me,he appears to be someone who did not sustain any head injury.He was even using gauze to clean his hands.Intensive Care Unit is for people that are in critical conditions.Does his condition look critical to you?

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has acknowledged receipt of a petition against the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, by some concerned indigenes of Oyo town who allege he is involved in criminal activity.

The petition against the Alaafin was filed by Messrs Jacob Oluokun and Suleiman Ishola on behalf of some concerned indigenes of Oyo town, to ICC, asking it to investigate alleged human rights violations committed by him.

The ICC letter, which was signed by Head of Information and Evidence Unit, Office of the Prosecutor, M.P. Dillon, read,

“On behalf of the prosecutor, I thank you for your communication received on 09/09/2015, as well as any subsequent related information.

“The office is analysing the situation identified in your communication, with the assistance of other related communications and other available information.

“Under Article 53 of the Rome Statute, the Prosecutor must consider whether there is a reasonable basis to believe that crimes within the jurisdiction of the court have been committed, the gravity of the crimes, whether national systems are investigating and prosecuting the relevant crimes, and the interests of justice.

“Analysis will be carried out as expeditiously as possible, but please be aware that meaningful analysis of these factors can take some time. As soon as a decision is taken on whether there is a reasonable basis to proceed with an investigation, we will advise you promptly and we will provide reasons for the decision.

“We thank you for your interest in the ICC. If you would like to learn more about the ICC, please consult our website at www. icc-cpi.int.

“If you would like to learn more about how the office carries out analysis of information, please see our policy paper and the annex to that paper, on the office webpage at the website above’’.

The petition entitled, “Unprecedented criminality, flagrant human rights violations, bomb planting, gun running and unresolved assassinations in Oyo town, Oyo State’’ was sent by the petitioners to the ICC on September 9, 2015.

It will be recalled that a Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan had on December 15, 2014, issued an order of mandamus compelling the Inspector General of Police to investigate Oba Adeyemi for alleged criminalities, including murder, bomb planting, unlawful possession of arms and so on.

The application for mandamus with the suit No: FHC/IB/CS/54/2014 was filed at the Federal High Court, Ibadan, by the applicants’ counsel, Mr. Biodun Abdur-Raheem on July 16, 2014, two months after the police declined actions on the petition.

The petitioners noted with concern that 13 months after the court gave its order, the Nigerian Police are yet to comply, thus raising suspicion that Oba Adeyemi is being helped to escape investigation. The petitioners equally on Friday petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari asking him to compel the police authorities to execute a court judgment ordering the investigation of the Alaafin of Oyo.

A little boy named Destiny Abiachi drowned to his death after a heavy down pour in Benin city last week. The little boy met his death when he went to greet his friend at his residence. His family members said he was last seen before last week’s downpour.  His family declared him missing shortly after the rain. His body was discovered after it washed ashore.

Cameroonian president Paul Biya has reportedly approved the use of witchcraft in fighting terror group Boko Haram.According to Cameroonian journalist ChiefBisong Etahoben, Chiefs of Cameroon’s East Region had asked President Biya to grant them permission to use witchcraft in finishing off Boko Haram.

The journalist on Tuesday tweeted that Far North Governor Midjiyawa said: “The head of state has demanded that an aspect of witchcraft be integrated into the fight against Boko Haram.”

The youth wing of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, on Tuesday evening 25/1/2016, staged a fresh but peaceful protest demanding the immediate release of their detained leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky in Bauchi.

Hundreds of Zakzaky's followers as well as their sympathisers protested on motorcycles venting their anger at the continued detention of Zakyzaky, which they described as illegal and unfair. The protest which was held peacefully along various streets of Bauchi city had also drew dozens of sympathisers to the protest.

The protesters chanted 'Zakzaky must be freed' in chorus and other slogans that were intended to tell the world that they would not relent protesting until they secure the release of their leader and redress for those who were massacred in broad daylight in Zaria.
Various placards scribbled with " FREE ZAKZAKY " were used to drive home their demands. Among the sympathisers who watched the protest emotionally was an old woman who prayed for divine protection to the demonstrators " May the protest bring a desired result.

I pray to Allah to protect you from the devilish machinations of the Nigerian soldiers" She said. " As a nonviolence movement, you Shias do not deserve this atrocity, I support your course, keep fighting for justice until you secure the release of your leader" said another onlooker watching the protest from the pavement.
