Senator representing Anambra North, Stella Oduah, has debunked reports by online newspaper, Sahara Reporters, linking her to a N86bn contract awarded for the upgrade of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu during her tenure as Minister of Aviation.

The report in part reads:

“The stench of contractual fraud left behind by Senator Stella Oduah during her tenure as Minister of Aviation remains unceasing. Oduah, whose time as a minister under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan was headlined by the dodgy contract of two bullet-proof BMW cars for her use, was elected senator in the last general elections.

“The latest installment of controversy of her legacy as a minister is coming from the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, which was closed down for over two years to allow for its upgrade into a real international airport. To this end, a contract was awarded at the cost of N86billion.‎

“The contractor’s brief was to scrape off the original 2.6km runway that and construct an entirely new one. However, what was done the dressing of its surface and the addition of a new one-kilometer stretch to make it 3.6km. But even the new one was shoddily built, making it unable to meet the standard specifications for runway construction.”

However, in a statement signed by her New Media aide, Abang Veronica, Oduah held that the publication was malicious, false and devoid of journalistic integrity.

“A malicious and completely false publication by Sahara Reporters about a contract awarded at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport during Princess Stella Oduah’s tenure as the Aviation Minister, has been brought to the attention of her media team.

“The Senator who represents Anambra North Senatorial District, is quite disappointed with the manner in which a hand full of media outlets have jettisoned their integrity and the credibility of the Nigerian media as a whole, by publishing falsehood to deliberately mislead Nigerians and making the only means of livelihood for Nigerian journalists, more difficult than it already is.

“The Senator refutes all allegations made by Sahara Reporters on said contract.

“Stella Oduah states categorically for the record, that the contract was awarded by her predecessor and challenges the online medium to provide evidence if it has any, to counter this.

“Senator Stella Oduah, a serving member of the Senate Committee on Aviation, wishes to use this opportunity to urge serious and credible media houses to strive, no matter how hard, to apply due diligence, run thorough fact checks, before going to print, to save Nigeria and Nigerians from ill-intentioned publications such as this, from Sahara Reporters,” the statement read.

An early morning fire in Makarahuta area of Azare in Bauchi state has left this Islamic teacher Mallam Jamilu Musa Zaria, his wife Yusra and their three children dead. The cause of the fire is still unknown but their neighbour Abubakar Lawal said the fire might have been caused by a mosquito coil that might have been on by the wife Yusra.  Another version said Yusra kept food on fire and forgot it sleeping off in the process. The fire led to the death of the five family members.

A collapsed dilapidated building yesterday morning killed a 3-month old pregnant woman and her 5-yr old daughter in Abeokuta,Ogun state.The deceased was taking her two children Ganiyat and Ganiyu to school when the building collapsed and killed the woman and her daughter Ganiyat.Ganiyu however escaped.The woman identified as Kafayat Somoye is a petty trader while her daughter is a student of Methodist Primary School,Ago-Oko,Abeokuta.

Mya Hassan was dating the Senegalese star until last September when he physically abused her and was arrested by the Metro police in London,though he denied those claims after he was released . Later, Mya was linked to Caroline Musa Danjuma‘s husband who allegedly planned to marry her.

Sources close to the Danjuma family said that Caroline Danjuma had moved out of her matrimonial home after she learned of her husband’s new escapades with Mya, but the actress stepped out for her movie premiere with her husband. Later, Caroline Danjuma posted about forgiveness and show she is noy ready to burn bridges.

Mrs Aisha Buhari unveiled the Nigeria Rebirth Art Project on Thursday, March 17. The project is aimed at making Nigeria great. The wife of the President, who is the Grand Patron of the rebirth was represented by Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the Vice President. The incident that occurred in Port Harcourt yesterday about an attempt on the life of Chief Emeka Woke, The Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government got twisted when the online news website Sahara Reporters reported the news with branded lies to favour the APC by alleging that it was Dakuku Peterside, The DG of NIMASA and former guber candidate of the APC in Rivers state that had his life in danger.

Sahara Reporters in a bid to defend their baseless lies posted pictures allegedly of the incident on their Facebook wall. The twist is that the pictures posted on their page is actually those of the original victim, Chief Emeka Woke and his aides with a bullet wound. One would wonder how the Emeka Woke who was accused of attempting to kill Dakuku is the one whose Jeep got battered with bullets and his aide got a bullet wound on the leg as shown in the pictures posted by Sahara reporters. Sahara reporters did not pause on their stupidity as they went further to describe a picture of one of the aides of Chief Woke, who is fair in complexion with bullet wound on his leg as Dakuku Peterside forgetting that Dakuku is dark in complexion.

The wagon of lies by this paid media outlet did not allow them the time to verify from their pay masters the right descriptions for the pictures that were sent to them. They ended up exposing themselves with such show of lack of professionalism and ineptitude.
