Christianity EtcPope Francis: Pontiff Baptises Nigerian Beggar Who Became A Hero In Italy by Jonifech(op): 1:07pm On Apr 05, 2018

John Ogah, an illegal Nigerian immigrant in Italy was begging for alms when he saw a thief running off with some cash, and he stopped him.

Pope Francis on Saturday, March 31, 2018, baptized a Nigerian beggar, John Ogah who became a hero in Italy for disarming a thief with his bare hands.
Ogah was baptized alongside seven other adults during the solemn ceremony of one of the holiest nights in the Catholic liturgical calendar.

After his heroic act on September 26, 2017, Ogah, who was an illegal immigrant, had told the media that all he wanted was for the Pope or the president of the Republic to help him with permanent residency in Italy.

“If Pope Francis or the president of the republic could do something for me I would be the happiest man in the world. I don’t want to be a hero. I just want to be legal, work and have a dignified life in Italy,” he was quoted as saying after stopping a lone armed robber last year.
Italian media reports that Ogah was begging for spare change outside the Carrefour market in Rome’s Centocelle neighborhood when a masked thief, armed with a meat cleaver, tried to take off with 400 euros ($493) he had stolen from the cashiers.

Security cameras captured how Ogah confronted the thief and wrestled the cleaver away and held him by the collar until police arrived.

Ogah was said to have taken off when the police arrived the scene for fear of being deported because he was staying in Italy illegally.

His dream came through as Rome police authorities reportedly rewarded his courage by facilitating his Italian residency permit within a month.

He was said to have been denied the permit when his asylum bid failed.

According to ANSA news agency, Ogah now has a job with the Italian Red Cross and a place to call home.

Ahead of his baptism, he reportedly asked the Rome police captain who handled his case to be his godfather.

Here are some scriptures that will give you and your partner all the advice and encouragement that you could ever want.

Hey, Christian couple. Do you want to have the best marriage ever?
Here are 10 Bible verses that will give you all the help, motivation, encouragement and advice you could ever need.

Genesis 2: 23–25 –
“The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.”

Ephesians 5: 31–33 –
“For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery?—?but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”

Hebrews 13:4 –
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”

1 Peter 4:8 –
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”?

Colossians 3:18–19 –
“Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.”?
Ephesians 4:2–3 –
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

James 1:19–20 –
“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”

1 Corinthians 7:5 –
“Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.”

?Ephesians 4:29 –
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. “?

Ephesians 4:31–32 –
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”?

Please what do I do? Should I leave him because I’m going crazy for his actions?

Dear Bukky,

My husband is a womanizer and I feel so pained in my heart anytime he goes for other women.

Please what do I do, should I leave him because I’m going crazy for his actions?

Please help me.
_____________

Dear reader,

I think before considering an exit plan, you should first consider why he does what he does.

His actions are unjustifiable, I’ll admit that. Having extra marital affairs is largely inexcusable.

At the same time, it is not enough to point fingers every time something goes wrong. It requires some introspection, too, so you could assess the situation and see if there’s something you could have done better.

Is there a possibility that your actions have made it easy/inevitable for him to step out of his commitment to you? How’s the sex? Are you keeping your end of the bargain to love, hold, cherish and other things you promised each other while taking marriage oath?

Unfaithfulness is not incurable. While most relationships crash due to repeated cheating and an unwillingness to of one partner to give up their philandering ways, some move from the mess created by cheating to better things.
The only time you should not think twice before dumping someone is in the case of domestic violence. So in this case, if you think think there’s still an option to explore to restore your marriage and peace of mind, then explore it.

If, however, you have done all you can, and tried all you can to make things work and he’s yet to get his act right, then maybe leaving him is the last resort.

Divorce should be your last option though, not the first or mid-point of your quest for peace of mind.
______________
Do you want to talk about your love life, marriage or family issues?

Do you have burning questions that you would love to get answers to?

Just send a mail to relationships@pulse.ng and I’ll provide the most honest answers to them anonymously.

Note; the chances of getting a quick response reduces if the text in your email has a lot of abbreviations. So, please write as properly as possible.

So, why not send that mail today and let’s talk about it?

A problem shared is a problem half-solved!

LiteratureChimamanda Adichie: Nigerian Author The First Woman To Be Featured On The Cover by Jonifech(op): 12:07pm On Apr 04, 2018
https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/crop8203899/6615294163-chorizontal-w1600/Chimamanda-featured-in-PORT-magazine.png
Chimamanda continues to break boundaries and refuses to be bound by her gender as she becomes first woman to be featured on gentleman's magazine.

Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is the latest cover star for the new issue of PORT Magazine and she is the first woman ever to appear on the cover of PORT, which was launched in 2011 as 'the magazine for men'.
The cover story for the biannual style magazine was written by Catherine Lacey, and photos were taken by Mamadi Doumbouya.

The new issue, PORT’s 22nd, will be out on newsstands in mid-April.
We launched as ‘the magazine for men’, and, while we’ve dropped that tagline (as it started to seem quite militant), we initially ran with accomplished men on the cover who we felt were under-considered by our youth-obsessed media. After we had established our brand and made this point, we chose to exercise more freedom.

We had wanted to feature the novelist Chimamanda Adichie for a while, but it took a long time to arrange. We’ll be featuring more woman and a younger guy (now that we’ve bucked the trend) from time to time in the future. But we will always have time for the iconic men associated with classic Port covers.
In the issue, Chimamanda talks about her extraordinary books, the complexity of recent gender movements and her next big project.
Speaking about choosing Chimamanda, the magazine wrote, 'The writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is one of the foremost intellectual voices in the United States today. The author of Half of a Yellow Sun, Purple Hibiscus and Americanah – as well as of one of the most viewed Ted talks in the organisation's history, that was featured in a Beyoncé song – Adichie transcends the barriers between literature, art and music.'

RomanceRelationships: What To Do If Your Boyfriend Does Not Have Enough Time For You by Jonifech(op): 8:54pm On Apr 03, 2018
https://static.pulse.ng/img/relationships-weddings/crop8172003/5235291175-chorizontal-w1600/Worried-young-woman.jpg
If your boyfriend does not have your time, here are five steps to lifting the loneliness and feeling valued again.

If your boyfriend does not have enough time for you, it does not have to be the end of your relationship because you can salvage it by doing the things listed in this article.
For those in relationships where time is scarce and companionship is hard to come by, here are five steps to take to lift the loneliness and begin to feel valued again.

1. Communicate your feelings
This is one thing that can’t be emphasized enough. Every relationship issue that has dragged on till it becomes unbearable has to be discussed with your partner first before anybody.

If you are not cool with the amount of time you are being afforded by your boyfriend, don’t bottle it in for too long. Let him know that you need his attention.

2. Suggest date schedules
If you’re pressed for time in your relationship, you’ll have to deliberately make it happen.

Suggest a routine date night schedule to him; even if it means spending one hour together every week on normal work nights and then some more over the weekends.

In any case, for a relationship to thrive, partners need to spend time together, discussing, sharing ideas, rubbing minds and just seeing and feeling how the other’s mind works.

If it means, scheduling this on a routine basis, so be it. Better a routine than no time at all.

3. Schedule other communication means too
Making time for one another doesn’t have to be only face to face.

If your boyfriend is naturally so busy that time for you needs to be ground out, then you might have to help him find that time.

Here’s the thing, some people are just so invested in their work that they do not know when to stop and take a break. If he is that kind of guy and you’re patient enough, creating a schedule of video calls, phone-calls and text messaging and encouraging him to create the little time to stay connected is not a bad idea.

This way, if things do not work due to a lack of attention, you can say you genuinely tried to do what you can.

4. Is he truly hardworking?
If he’s being really hardworking and has a tasking job, then those late nights and extra weekend hours should not really offend you so much.

While you deserve time, in the grander picture, you [and the kids you choose to have] also deserve a good future as well as a man who is capable of playing his part in that.

Don’t harangue him when some of that free time you have should be spent on being busy yourself.

5. Be considerate
One other important thing to note here is to be considerate and not overly selfish in your demand for time. Sometimes, you could have seen his schedule before deciding to get into the relationship. Don’t get into it and start nagging. That’d be unfair since you knew exactly what you were getting into.

Love Problems: 3 little mistakes that won’t make your relationship last long

https://i1.wp.com/static.pulse.ng/img/relationships-weddings/crop8036969/7815298674-chorizontal-w1600/Disagreeing-couple.jpg?w=800&ssl=1
Things you should never overlook as they could later harm your relationship.

Little relationship mistakes are easy to miss, even though they make many relationships not last long.
There’s the tendency to always look out for the grand issues, big problems that people fear the most – unfaithfulness, refusal to have sex, side chicks, financial problems, etc.

However, failed relationships are not caused only by these huge, obvious problems. There are little, ignored problems that people should be paying more attention to in their relationships.

1. You don’t let things slide
Sometimes you just have to let some little things go. Being too confrontational, or doing so at all times, regardless of your partner’s mood is not good enough.

Yes, communication is good and expressing your hurt is great as well; but you need to realise that your partner is human and those little mistakes are bound to happen occasionally. You can’t pick on EVERY single mistake, you’ll end up looking like you’re hounding your partner. They’ll also feel so, so imperfect.

So, learn to let some little mistakes go, so far they are not too recurrent.

2. You don’t express your love

Everyone in love deserves reassurances. The mistake often made by many is to assume that only men have this duty to always tell their baes ‘I love you.’ That couldn’t be any farther from the truth!
As much as men should always make women know how much they love them, women in relationships need to also realise that men need regular reassurances, too. So never get too comfortable to the point of assuming that your partner [guy or babe] knows that you love them so you stop saying it.

It may sound minute and inconsequential but it could be negatively impactful on your relationship. Be expressive of your love.

3. White lies
Being untruthful with your partner on something very little may seem harmless until they find out and begin to wonder if anything you’ve ever told them was even true!

It is actually better to not say anything about an issue than to give a white lie about it.

InvestmentMMM Nigeria: Ponzi Scheme Goes Into Pause Mode To Honour Late Founder, Sergey Ma by Jonifech(op): 4:49pm On Mar 29, 2018

The future of the financial pyramid scheme, MMM, hangs in limbo after the death of Sergey Mavrodi

Few days after the death of Sergey Mavrodi, founder of the financial pyramid scheme, MMM system is going on “pause” mode as an honour.
Within the period of ‘pause’ mode, Mavrodians (participants) will not be able to provide and get help.

Mavrodi died at the age of 62 on March 26, 2018. His death came as shock to millions of its global participants as the future of the financial pyramid scheme hangs in limbo.

A Moscow-based daily newspaper Moskovskij Komsomolets had reported that Mavrodi died in the Russian capital, Moscow after he felt weakness and pain in the chest area.

In a statement to its participants announcing Mavrodi’s death, released by an Administrator, on its platform, MMM said the system has been shifted to a “pause” mode.

“It is impossible to provide and get help; Mavros don’t grow. In the near future, Administration will take a decision concerning MMM’s future and report on it officially. Hoping for your understanding.

“Sergey Mavrodi devoted his life to serving other people. He abstained from conveniences and material benefits, communication with his family and friends in order that no one could influence him and the System. Sergey Mavrodi worked until his dying day: without holidays and vacations. Mr Mavrody always felt his responsibility for the participants and the System. He never pursued any self-interest.

“Sergey Mavrodi is a great man who managed to unite a huge number of people worldwide in the struggle for a single purpose. MMM was his life’s work; he dreamed of changing the world. Sergey Mavrodi, you will always be in our hearts!” the statement reads.

When Business Insider Sub Sahara Africa contacted the MMM ‘faceless official’ in Nigeria, Danny, a consultant and Agent via a chat said the pause mode is temporary and it is a worldwide agreement to honour the late Mavrodi.

On the fear of participants and the future of the scheme, the Agent said the system will soon come back but did not specify a date.

“It’s normal for everyone to observe the pause for the founder.” the agent said.

On the Facebook page of MMM Nigeria, a participant wrote: “….that the system is now on pause mode in honour of your departure “worldwide” is a welcome idea.

“The global “pause mode” serves as a perfect time for the Admin to resume with the creation of “MMM COIN” for easy exchange. ….adieu great man Mavrodi…..”

In 2016, the Central Bank of Nigeria, as well as the Nation’s legislative arms had issued strong warnings to Nigerians to desist from MMM and other Ponzi Schemes. It was the same period the country’s economy contracted by 2.06 percent witnessing its worst economic recession in over 20 years.

This made Nigerian youths to be vulnerable to all kinds of pyramid schemes and betting opportunities that offers quick and multiple incomes.

Hykes built Docker out of a startup he founded in 2008.

Solomon Hykes, the founder and chief technology officer at Docker, is leaving the company.
Hykes is widely credited with developing the core technology behind the $1.3 billion startup, which makes it faster and easier for developers to deploy code.
Hykes emphasized that his departure is not “a dramatic event.” He’ll remain on the board.
Docker founder and chief technology officer Solomon Hykes is leaving the $1.3 billion developer platform startup.

In a blog post announcing his departure on Wednesday, Hykes framed his move as a reflection of the company’s evolution as its cloud computing technology becomes an increasingly important business.

“To take advantage of this opportunity, we need a CTO by Steve’s side with decades of experience shipping and supporting software for the largest corporations in the world,” Hykes said. referring to CEO Steve Singh.

“So I now have a new role: to help find that ideal CTO, provide the occasional bit of advice, and get out of the team’s way as they continue to build a juggernaut of a business. As a shareholder, I couldn’t be happier to accept this role.”

Hykes is widely seen as a pioneer of one of most important technologies in the cloud computing business. He’s credited with developing Docker’s name stake technology, which lets developers take a bunch of code and wrap it up in what is known as a “software container.”

Containers makes it so developers can write a set of code just once, and run it anywhere, on any server or big computing cloud service. This makes it much easier for them to manage all the different moving parts of an app and funnel in their updates quickly and cheaply.
“Our premise is that it’s good to develop to target a programmable layer,” Hykes told Business Insider’s Matt Weinberger back in 2016.

Hykes’ departure comes almost one year after Ben Golub handed the CEO reins to former SAP and Concur executive Singh.

Docker came onto the scene five years ago out of another startup founded by Hykes called Dotcloud. Dotcloud, which Hykes started in 2008 and ran as CEO, didn’t do very well. But its container technology was wildly popular. Ultimately, the team decided to focus on this one product and rebranded as Docker.

Hykes will remain on the Docker board and retain significant ownership over the company, though he said he will no longer have any role in the company’s day-to-day operations.

“After obsessing for so many years over my own ideas, I am rediscovering the joys of putting myself at the service of others – my friends, my family, and the brilliant entrepreneurs I’ve been lucky enough to advise and invest in over the years,” Hykes wrote. “Over the coming months I plan to use my experience to help them in any way I can.

CrimeIn Kenya: Police Arrest House Help For Beating, Feeding Baby With Vomit • Jonine by Jonifech(op): 10:54pm On Mar 27, 2018

The court heard that Ngumbo’s employer had CCTV cameras installed to monitor the house and was shocked she saw Ngumbo’s maltreatment of the baby.

A house help, Cecile Ngumbo, has been arrested by Kenyan police after being filmed assaulting and feeding her employer’s 15-month-old baby with vomit.
According to the reports, the suspect has now been charged to court on charges bordering on child abuse and human cruelty.
The 35-year-old was reportedly accused of subjecting the child to cruel punishment at Ngara estate in Nairobi on March 14, 2018.

During the trial proceedings, the court heard that Ngumbo’s employer had CCTV cameras installed to monitor the house.

However, she received the biggest shock of her life when she saw Ngumbo’s maltreatment of the baby.

Police records revealed that Ngumbo was seen feeding the baby with vomit, kicking and pinching her.

Her employer reportedly confronted her before later reporting the case to the police.

In her defence, Ngumbo pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy, adding that she has three children to take care of.

The matter was later adjourned until April 4.

Housemaid chops off mistress’ baby’s hand in anger
In a far worse yet similar act of cruelty, a housemaid in Malawi was arrested for she allegedly chopping off the right hand of her boss’ new born baby after the man of the house got her pregnant and denied responsibility.
The unwholesome act, as reported by Face of Malawi, an online portal in that country, happened in Chiradzulu, a district in the Southern Region of Malawi.

According to report, the master of the house had been sleeping with the maid whose name was withheld, and when she became pregnant and informed him, he blatantly denied responsibility and to take vengeance on him, she gruesomely cut off the hand of his new born baby.
The maid was arrested after the mother reported the incident to the police where she allegedly confessed and gave reasons for carrying out such a brutal revenge on the innocent child.
In the same vein, a housemaid in Abuja had, in December, 2015, strangled her mistress’ three-year-old baby to death because her madam refused to allow her travel to her hometown for the holidays.

His startup might have been Facebook's largest acquisition ever, but that doesn't buy What'sApp cofounder Brian Acton's loyalty.

WhatsApp cofounder Brian Acton jumped on the #deletefacebook trend Tuesday.
The hashtag formed amidst claims that Facebook allowed data analytics company Cambridge Analytica to collect data from Facebook users' profiles.
Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion in February 2014.

Brian Acton, the cofounder of the messaging company Facebook paid $19 billion to acquire four years ago, tweeted on Tuesday that he believed it was time to stop using Facebook.

"It is time. #deletefacebook", Acton said in a short tweet, without elaborating.

The comment from a former Facebook insider is a particularly personal blow to the world's largest social network as it struggles to stem a public relations crisis following the news that it allowed the personal data of 50 million users to be exploited by Cambridge Analytica, a data-analytics firm with ties to the Trump campaign.

Facebook's stock has slid 10% since the news surfaced and the deletefacebook hashtag has been trending among some users, upset about the privacy violation.
Facebook acquired WhatsApp, the messaging app that Acton cofounded, in February 2014 for $19 billion — the largest deal in Facebook's history. Acton left Facebook in September of 2017 to start his own non-profit company.

It's not clear if Acton is advising others to delete Facebook or simply declaring that he plans to do so himself. Acton did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment about his tweet.

Technology MarketHow To Fix Startup Problems With The Windows Startup Repair Tool by Jonifech(op): 7:25pm On Mar 03, 2018

If Windows isn’t starting properly, you can often use the integrated “startup repair” tool to fix it. This recovery tool will scan your PC for problems like missing or damaged system files. It can’t fix hardware issues or Windows installation problems, but it’s a great first place to start if you’re experiencing trouble booting into Windows.
This tool is available on Windows 7, 8, and 10. You can access it from the built-in Windows recovery tools (if they built properly), recovery media, or a Windows installation disc.

Launch Startup Repair From the Windows Boot Menu
On Windows 8 or 10, you’ll often see the advanced boot options menu if Windows can’t boot properly. You can access Startup Repair by clicking Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair on this menu.

Windows will ask you for your password and attempt to automatically repair your PC.

On Windows 7, you’ll often see the Windows Error Recovery screen if Windows can’t boot properly. Select “Launch Startup repair (Recommended)” on this screen to run startup repair.

Windows will prompt you for your keyboard layout and a username and password for your PC. After it does, select the “Launch Startup Repair (recommended)” option. Windows will attempt to find and fix problems that can prevent your PC from booting.

If Windows 7 won’t boot properly and doesn’t show you the Error Recovery screen, you can get into it manually. First, power the computer completely down. Next, turn it on and keep pressing the F8 key as it boots. You’ll see the Advanced Boot Options screen, which is where you would launch Safe Mode from. Select “Repair Your Computer” and run startup repair.

In some cases, the startup repair option in Windows 7 may not be available. You may be told you need to use a Windows installation disc to repair your computer instead.

Launch Startup Repair From a System Repair Disc or Recovery Drive
If Windows isn’t booting properly and won’t even allow you to use the startup repair option at boot, you can run startup repair from a system repair disc or recovery drive.

If you haven’t already created a system repair disc or recovery drive, you can do so from another computer running the same version of Windows that isn’t booting properly. For example, if your Windows 7 PC isn’t booting properly, you can create a recovery disc on another PC running Windows 7 and use it to fix the problem.

Windows 7 only allows you to create a recovery disc by burning a CD or DVD. Windows 8 and 10 allow you to create a USB recovery drive or burn a recovery disc, whichever you prefer.

Once you’ve created a system repair disc or recovery drive, insert it into the PC that isn’t booting properly and boot from the disc or USB drive. You’ll be prompted to choose an installed version of Windows and you’ll see the same tools you could normally access from the boot menu. Select “Startup Repair” to run a startup repair operation.

This recovery media will also allow you to use System Restore, recover your computer using a system image backup you’ve previously created, and run a Windows Memory Diagnostic to check your computer’s RAM for problems.

Launch Startup Repair From Windows Installation Media
You can also also do this right from a Windows installeation disc or USB drive.

If you don’t have Windows installation media lying around, you can download a Windows 7, 8, or 10 ISO from Microsoftand either burn it to disc or copy it to a USB drive. It’s completely legal.

Be sure to use media that matches the version of Windows you’re trying to recover—for example, Windows 10 installation media for a Windows 10 PC or Windows 7 installation media for a Windows 7 PC.

Insert the disc or USB drive into the computer that can’t boot properly and boot from the device.

On Windows 8 or 10, click the “Repair your computer” option instead of “Install now” in the installer screen. Then select Troubleshoot > Startup Repair to run startup repair.

On Windows 7, you’ll see a “Repair your computer” link in the same place. Click this and Windows will run the startup repair tool.

This tool won’t fix every problem. In some cases, your Windows installation may be so damaged that reinstalling Windows is the only option. In other cases, even reinstalling Windows may not solve your problem, as it may be a physical problem with your PC’s hardware.
