Sounds a lot like conspiracy theories. France appear to lose with Deby's death but it raises a whole lot of questions why didn't they intervene and allow Deby to go to the front if those reports are true, why would they when they could easily halt the advancing rebel column with precision strikes. It might be a game of cards to complicate matters for Abuja in the war or Abuja knows something and would prefer a new leadership in N'djamena. Niger knows its future lies with Nigeria not France a declining power. This whole thing could get some perspective if Nigeria decide it's time to end French hegemony of Francophone West Africa and it can but with a war on its hands it might not be prudent to do so now rather maybe better to employ clandestine means and ECOWAS mechanisms like the Eco currency to achieve those ends. It can also guarantee presidential security for pliant states. That is one way to weed these states off France.
and that is what niger republic is trying to do. want to pull out from france. they is a heavy game card played with the death of debby

The question no one is asking is what was Marshall Idris Deby Itno doing in Abuja a little over a fortnight ago and then killed shortly after under murky circumstances depending on which version of events you believe. Whose interests?

Inset: Nigerian Army New VT-4 Main Battle Tank
the two francophone nation visit buhari in lass than 2-3 week interval and you think something is not wrong. the day Niger republic speak against france after in inauguration they was a coup attempt on him, and you think something is not wrong, the rebel that they say killed debby was a rebel France have sent and giving them assistance in libya and you say something is wrong. from my intel they is a new policy they brought by france which chad, niger and other country rejected(i will not go further) i pray they do not go after niger president

$1billion for frigate? Meko A200 is not even upto half that amount. A frigate in most european navies is equivalent of destroyer in most nations.

Even a destroyer (type 052) is less than that amount.
he shock you? but most destroyer of european are call frigate

Yeah, but not fully..... Maybe it's time we stop being a third world country and align totally with either faction. We are too weak to be forming non-aligned. And we can also go the Iranian way.

We just need a lot of reforms in every sector. They will take several years before we start seeing results but it is probably the only thing that can save Nigeria.
very true sir i hope with dicon with more internal military company and more coming this gap will be close

Maj. Gen Wahab was/is a very brilliant military officer, very capable in military affairs but he should leave foreign policy and international politics to those who are professionals in these fields.
The laws he talked about weren't created specifically to punish Nigeria, smart governments know their ways around them. NGOs are the same all over the world, smart people know how to put them in their place and prevent them from hindering their successes.
If the west won't help you because it is against their own interests, why not find friends that your interests align with and can help you or align your own interests with those of the countries that can help you.
If the west doesn't sell weapons to you, the east will. For every weapon type the west has to offer, the East has an equivalent or something that can serve the same purpose.
Is it only the west that has satellites? What happened to Russia and China? What happened to launching your own satellites?
Excuses won't get us anywhere.
thanks, good point sir. respectfully i think the Nigeria government later went to country like china and Russia. check that out

Dunno if you saw the claim by Joscofelix that NAF had not only received RAAD-II nuclear cruise missiles with the JF-17, but had deployed and used it against bandits just a few hours after the JF-17 was delivered. Oh, and he somehow had the security clearance from NAF to gain him access into TAC Makurdi to see the jets even before NAF top brass did grin

Greetings Tochex 101. I hail you!

Joscoflex - respectfully neither NNS Centenary or NNS Unity have missile capabilities.

Nigeria in it's 'penny wise pound foolish' wisdom, purchased the very basic export version of the Chinese Type 056 Corvette armed with only a 76 mm naval gun, 30mm and 20mm cannons. In Nigerian service they are classed as OPVs (P-18N).

The Algerian variant (currently under construction) as well as the versions purchased by Bangladesh are armed with missiles for ASuW. I guess you get what you pay for!
oga me make we live like that. I hope better day for nigeria navy

Why does the Nigerian Govt like buying capital millitary platforms peicemeal and in insufficient numbers?

Case in point - South Africa bought 4 Meko Valour Class frigates and 3 Type 209 submarines in one transaction. Egypt is buying FREMM Frigates and Mistral LPDs for fun ..not to talk of Gorwind and Meko Class corvettes. Algeria buys MEKO Class Valour frigates from Germany and corvettes from China in substantial numbers.

Nigeria is making noise over a sole destroyer as it's replacement Flagship? Haba!

There are 3 operational naval commands (Western, Eastern and Central). The Nigerian Navy should be given the funds to purchase at least 6 well armed OPVs (with missile capabilites), 3 Meko 200 'Valour' Class frigates with similar armaments as those purchased by Algeria and at least 2 Type 52D frigates from China.

Let's be absolutely clear- Nigeria currently has no navy, just a well equipped Coast Guard with a number of in-shore patrol craft (Shaldags, and OCEA PF72 patrol boats etc).

The hand-me-down Hamlilton Class ex -Us Coastgaurd long patrol vessels - NNS Thunder and NNS Okpbana, have no missile or ASW /ASuW capabilities whatseover. The OPVs purchased from China - NNS Century and NNS Unity have no missile, ASW or AsuW capabilies either- and these are supposed to be our capital shipshuh NNS Aradu (our current Flag ship) for all intents and purposes has been reduced to a training vessel with all it's missile capabilites removed. The newly acquired NNS Lana is a Hydrographic Survey Vessel and is not armed.

Senegal is currently in the process of building naval vessels in France will soon (by 2022) have FACs with missile capabilites and thus become the only navy in West Africa with such vessels...and the Nigerian Navy ..sorry Coast Guard will then be caught napping!
NNS unity and NNS century have missile capacity stop believing media all the time

MEKO A-200 frigate

The MEKO A-200 frigate measures 121m in length and accommodates up to 120 crew members. Its armament includes a 127mm or 76mm main gun, a pair of 30mm-40mm secondary guns, two 12.7-20mm cannons, eight surface-to-surface missiles, 32 surface-to-air missiles, two anti-submarine (ASW) torpedo tubes, and sea mines.

The ship can house two 5t helicopters, two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and an all-weather capable boat. It is outfitted with various sonars, trackers, radars and navigation systems, as well as two torpedo decoy launchers and two EM/IR decoy launchers for countermeasures.

The MEKO A-200 frigate is capable of full-four-dimensional warfare (AAW, ASW and ASuW, BCW). It can also conduct general missions such as search and rescue, patrol, special force, and humanitarian purposes.

Powered by a CODAG-WARP (water jet and refined propellers) propulsion system, the frigate can attain a maximum speed of more than 29k and offers a range of 7,200nm at 16k.
nigeria government have a problem with Germany right from Goodluck Jonathan period but i do know of now. and that was the main reason nigeria navy want for china light frigate

last week i put on a discussion about the frigate you will want Nigeria navy to have and the quantity, i have intel since one month ago about the procurement of a new frigate for the nigerian navy , i dont want to go straight and say that the navy will procure a frigate because some uncompleted person will make noise and tag me a liar. from the two navy retreat the nigeria navy will start procurement of a new frigate. i have a credible intel pointing at china, between a type 54d frigate or type 52d destroyer. the quantity for now is 2.(it may change with quantity and country)

There are a number of options available to the Nigerian navy in the frigate class for a replacement of Aradu.

The front runners would most likely be

- Meko A200

- Sigma class Frigate (Damen)

- Type 054

- Gowind class design

- maybe something from India.

If I were to choose the Type-054 should be the likely replacement for Aradu, however with Damen doing a lot of business in Nigeria across the military and civilian sector, and France selling a number of vessels to Nigeria it might be tight.
intel with me say china for now. because of it maintenance and spare part
