"According to a 2012 Gallup survey, only 15 per cent of Americans think that Homo sapiens evolved through natural selection alone, free of all divine intervention; 32 per cent maintain that humans may have evolved from earlier life forms in a process lasting millions of years, but God orchestrated this entire show; 46 per cent believe that God created humans in their current form sometime during the last 10,000 years, just as the Bible says.
Spending three years in college has absolutely no impact on these views. The same survey found that among BA graduates, 46 per cent believe in the biblical creation story, whereas only 14 per cent think that humans evolved without any divine supervision. Even among holders of MA and PhD degrees, 25 per cent believe the Bible, whereas only 29 per cent credit natural selection alone with the creation of our species.
Though schools evidently do a very poor job teaching evolution, religious zealots still insist that it should not be taught at all. Alternatively, they demand that children must also be taught the theory of intelligent design, according to which all organisms were created by the design of some higher intelligence (aka God). ‘Teach them both theories,’ say the zealots, ‘and let the kids decide for themselves.’
Why does the theory of evolution provoke such objections, whereas nobody seems to care about the theory of relativity or quantum mechanics? How come politicians don’t ask that kids be exposed to alternative theories about matter, energy, space and time? After all, Darwin’s ideas seem at first sight far less threatening than the monstrosities of Einstein and Werner Heisenberg.
The theory of evolution rests on the principle of the survival of the fittest, which is a clear and simple – not to say humdrum – idea. In contrast, the theory of relativity and quantum mechanics argue that you can twist time and space, that something can appear out of nothing, and that a cat can be both alive and dead at the same time. This makes a mockery of our common sense, yet nobody seeks to protect innocent schoolchildren from these scandalous ideas. Why?
The theory of relativity makes nobody angry, because it doesn’t contradict any of our cherished beliefs. Most people don’t care an iota whether space and time are absolute or relative. If you think it is possible to bend space and time, well, be my guest. Go ahead and bend them. What do I care?
In contrast, Darwin has deprived us of our souls. If you really understand the theory of evolution, you understand that there is no soul. This is a terrifying thought not only to devout Christians and Muslims, but also to many secular people who don’t hold any clear religious dogma, but nevertheless want to believe that each human possesses an eternal individual essence that remains unchanged throughout life, and can survive even death intact."

TheSuperNerd: I think it's more of Ndidi just wanting to stay focused on continuing an awesome season with KRC Genk and not worrying about any January move but time will tell. Ndidi to leicester for January or for the summer of 2017? Or maybe other top clubs will come for him at season's end? Time will tell it all....... .......................................................................
Genk Director Disagrees With Ndidi Over January Move To Leicester City – We Can’t Hold On To Him
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image-110.jpg
A mild disagreement has broken out between Super Eagles defender cum midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and the Sporting Director of Genk Dimitri de Conde’ over a potential january move to English Champions Leicester City.
Ndidi who has been linked with Watford, Newcastle United and German side Hamburg, is reportedly a subject of a bid of over £15 million from Leicester City, but the 19 year old shelved the talks, insisting he is focused on doing well for Genk and not about a move to Leicester City in January.
“Any serious offer will have to be made to my club which will duly inform me. As I speak to you now, I read the stories in the media just like any other person, but there has not been any concrete offer made to Genk. So I don’t want to worry myself thinking about something that may eventually not materialise”, Ndidi said.
However Sporting Director Conde’ said the club can’t hold on to the Super Eagles midfielder as he is high in demand, just like his midfield teammate Leon Bailey.
“The chances that both Leon Bailey as Wilfred Ndidi will still play in Genk after January is getting smaller.
“I must be ready with an alternative,” said technical director, Dimitri de Condé.
“The demand for Bailey and Ndidi is huge,” said sporting boss Dimitri de Condé. “Let’s go to fight to keep them here until the end of this season, but that is no easy task.
“we cannot deny the fact that the boys also feel ready to move up a step higher and it will be very difficult to keep them in Genk.
“The two lads are absolute top talents in the category of players under 20 years and an amount between 20 and 25 million is not too much for them. They’ve been excellent for us this season and If we reach an agreement with interested clubs in January then it is my job to be ready with an alternative” Conde concluded

THE BIBLE STOLE THE STORY OF THE ARK...
The Mesopotamian Gilgamesh epic recounts that when the gods sent a great deluge to destroy the world, almost all humans and animals perished.
Only then did the rash gods realise that nobody remained to make any offerings to them. They became crazed with hunger and distress.
Luckily, one human family survived, thanks to the foresight of the god Enki, who instructed his devotee Utnapishtim to take shelter in a large wooden ark along with his relatives and a menagerie of animals. When the deluge subsided and this Mesopotamian Noah emerged from his ark, the first thing he did was sacrifice some animals to the gods.
Then, tells the epic, all the great gods rushed to the spot: ‘The gods smelled the savour/the gods smelled the sweet savour/the gods swarmed like flies around the offering.’
The biblical story of the deluge (written more than 1,000 years after the Mesopotamian version) also reports that immediately upon leaving the ark, ‘Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: Never again will I curse the ground because of humans’ (Genesis 8:20–1). |

Without any shadow of doubt we are in a new season in Nigerian football, a fresh wave of power is sweeping through our football with great promises of such frightening prospects. I am just so happy. I spent the whole day lapping up this thread, I am satisfied yet hungry for more. O Lord!!! TheSuperNerd: You're right Sir Joseph. I dont see an Enyeama willing to sit on the bench for Ikeme.
Let's check on Ligali of Montpellier instead. When Oliseh shopped for Enyeama's back-up on taking over last year, Ikeme's and Ligali's names came up afterall.
This can be done unless Ligali says a big no. What we have now apart from Ikeme are quality young goalies like Alampasu, Nwokolor, Osigwe and Emma Daniel (the oldest of these young goalies).
Ezenwa and Akpeyi are not quality back-ups or reliable second-choice goalies.
So why dont we check out Ligali? I can not agree more. |

I can see why Rohr wants a capable bench in the goal-keeping position, but I would rather leave Enyeama alone. |

daveP: Huh? loan? ahhh no o abeg.
That would start some downfall I think. don't wanna go the racial discrim way. His style of play may have not moved Pep enough, but his trust in injured Aguero sef....
And besides, Pep wants to make De Bruyne his Messi. That guy played with injury during UCL instead of playing Nacho imagine. it's obvious, but we have to wait. I don't think going on loan automatically means a retrogression. Harry Kane shows that. More recently, Victor Moses proves that. Players need to be trusted.
What if Gabriel Jesus comes and Pep prefers him to our homeboy. It's beginning to dawn on me that sometimes performance is not enough, some coaches just prefer some players. Mourinho exemplifies that succinctly. David Luiz, Lukaku, Bruyne. See how Henrikh Mkhitaryan, a beast, is wasting away under him. Perhaps Pep just doesn't fancy him.
We wait and see... |

ONE QUESTION THAT SINKS THE ARK
It's rather easy to pick holes in the Biblical story of Noah's ark and the flood. There are practical issues about the building of the ark, the source of the water and its effect on the planet, the seaworthiness of a wooden structure that colossal and the collection and husbandry of so many animals.
Then there is the little problem that evolution would have to work much, much faster than it actually does for the "kinds" collected by Noah to have evolved into all the species that have lived in the past 4,400 years.
There are also historical, archaeological, geological and paleontological problems--too many to discuss here.
But there is one question that should make all the others redundant. The flood was an omniscient God's master plan to make a better world. That one question is, did it work? |

Moses' story is very inspiring. I have always rooted for him and keep wondering why he chose to play for Nigeria after the horrors of his parents' death. It's difficult to explain. Perhaps he will explain that side someday. I hope Nigerian fans give him the respect he deserve. He is a true hero and doesn't deserve the flake some fans give him while donning the national colors.
On another note, it makes me sad that so many talents are wasting away here. What if Moses didn't see the good-hearted humans who took him away from Nigeria? He would probably have wasted away, the world would not have a whim of what he can do. The raw skills, the passion and energy on the streets for football is arguably unmatched in the world. I remember a foreign scout saying that the rave of the moment, Dembele is hyped as he sees kids who are better than him on the streets of Nigeria all the time. We're cursed with bad leadership hence the inability to harness these talents. When you have a crackhead like Dalung saying Nigeria cannot win the world cup, how do you expect him to have a plan for world beaters. Nigeria makes me so sad. |

From being attacked by angry mums to Chelsea’s first-team – the rise of Victor Moses

The Blues wing-back is finally having his breakthrough at Stamford Bridge, but his talent was unearthed in the most remarkable circumstances by a youth-team manager Victor Moses’s early years in England were not easy, according to his first manager. At 13, he was attacked on the field by a woman for humiliating her son and accused of cheating while playing for “the worst team in the league”. Despite his struggles, though, Tony Loizi was convinced he had found a special player when he welcomed him to Cosmos 90.
Loizi met Moses when the youngster approached the Tandridge Youth Football League team looking for a game after he had been resettled in England following the religiously-motivated murder of his parents in Nigeria.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic rise to become Antonio Conte’s first-choice right wing-back at Chelsea. But it was Loizi who introduced him to the English game after getting the permission of his foster parents to sign him up to play in the youth league just outside of London. The manager was so impressed by him that he still has the documentation of his former player to prove that he discovered the former Wigan winger.
"We were the worst team in the league and he just walked up to us and asked to join the team," Loizi told Goal. "We watched him play and he was doing back flips and tricks. We all just stood there with our mouths open. I couldn’t believe it, he had a shot harder than a rocket.
"I said, ‘what team do you play for?’ and he said ‘I don’t play for a team', then I replied, ‘you have got to be in an academy?!’ and he said ‘no'. I immediately went to his foster parents' house to sign him up and they told me his story.
"There is a one-in-a-million chance that sort of player comes to an ordinary Sunday league side, it is almost impossible. They are normally snapped up so early, they are in academies before you know it. He came up to us, we didn’t find him, he found us!"
Moses arrived in England when he was 11-years-old and attended a state school in South Norwood before joining Cosmos 90 FC as a 13-year-old for a seven-month period.
Cosmos 90 ultimately folded after Moses left due to Loizi being unable to continue as the club's manager but he remembers the Nigerian's debut with huge clarity.
"His first game was against Chipstead FC and they beat us 8-1 only a year earlier in the cup," Loizi, who played in Arsenal's academy, added. "My son was due to play in goal but fractured his arm so I put his cousin in goal who was only about two feet tall! I put Moses at centre-half who went to my nephew 'don't worry, I'll look after you'.
"We won 10-1 and Victor scored eight goals from centre-half, Chipstead were one of the best as well, as their first team was semi-professional and all their parents and the manager were calling us cheats.
"They said, 'he is not the right age' and I said, 'look we have the documentation, he is the right age, so tough'. I knew he would dominate as, when I first met him, we put some balls on the halfway line and he was scoring from there - and at only 13-years-old!
"Another moment that I remember was when Victor goes up to the goalkeeper, puts the ball through his legs, turns around chips it back over his head and then beats him again. The kid was in tears as he absolutely humiliated him.
"Then the mother of the child comes on with her handbag and starts hitting him over his head with her handbag as he humiliated him. I said to him after that, it doesn’t matter how good you are, you have got to be humble.
"He was like Gareth Bale when he plays for Wales. Without Bale, Wales are an ordinary or average side and without Moses, Cosmos 90 FC were worse than ordinary!"
At that age, Moses named Zinedine Zidane and Frank Lampard as his footballing idols. The softly spoken and polite Nigerian became flamboyant and confident as he stepped onto a football pitch. He was a naturally gifted athlete who had the ability to perform the same leaping somersaults that he can do as a 25-year-old and it wasn't long before he drew the attention of London's biggest clubs.
"We weren't the best team so we used to only draw crowds of two men and their dog, but once we got the word out about Victor, we had one hundred people come along, then close to two hundred, including many of my friends," said Loizi.
"Before the game, I would get called up and asked 'is Victor playing?' If I said no, they wouldn’t come down! They only came to watch him as he was so amazing. So many clubs were after him and then Crystal Palace came in. I said to him, ‘look Victor there’s no way I would hold you back' and I asked him to come to Crystal Palace with me.
"I said, 'if you sign for Palace you will get to the first team quicker than at any other clubs' and in the end he chose to stay with them. I remember his first game, which was against Millwall youth and he nearly scored from the halfway line.
"He is a nice kid, we had a great time with him and as soon as he left, we lost a lot of our next few games. Although we eventually went on to win the cup which was, in part, down to Victor giving us confidence.
"They say that one player doesn’t make a difference on his own, but when they are as good as Victor, they do in youth football. He was very helpful to his fellow players, he would always back them up and things like that."
After Moses signed his schoolboy contracts with Palace, he was set up with a place in one of Croydon's best private schools, Whitgift. There, he continued his success at youth level by winning the FA Youth Cup for Whitgift.
Grimsby school were blown apart by Moses as he scored all five goals in a 5-0 victory, who were managed by ex-Chelsea star Colin Pates, in the final back in 2005.
Moses went onto sign for Chelsea for £9 million from Wigan Athletic in 2012, but has only now broken into the first team on a regular basis after Conte switched to a 3-4-3 formation.
Conte's use of Moses as a wing-back has led to a five-game winning streak in the league with Chelsea yet to concede in their new formation.
Loizi, who now works as a courier across London, is a Chelsea fan and is delighted with the impact of Moses after breaking through into the Blues's starting XI under Conte.
"I think talent-wise and skill-wise he is up there with Eden Hazard, perhaps he needs further refining. Now, under Conte, he has a role and he carries that out. He has become more disciplined since the early days and Conte's tough approach will be good for him.
"That skill he has, you don’t teach people that, he was doing things that not even an adult was doing. Someone either taught him in Nigeria or he was a complete natural. A lot of the stuff he does now for Chelsea wasn’t much different to when he was with us.
"I am delighted with how he has come on and you can see some of the tactical things he has been taught to do, because when he was a kid he wanted to take the whole team on which I am sure he will still do for Chelsea, from time to time."

EXCLUSIVE: Anichebe To Meet With Super Eagles Coach In London, Could Earn Recall For Senegal Friendly
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image-10.jpg
Victor Anichebe has been handed a lifeline by manager of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr, who will meet with the Sunderland forward in England to hold talks with him over his international career with Nigeria.
Rohr confirmed that he will be visiting London to meet with the father of Chelsea teen defender Ola Aina over the player’s international future.
He will also meet up with Anichebe according to reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com.
In 2013, Anichebe put his international career with Nigeria on hold, citing neglect after picking up an injury during one of the team’s game. He however made a u-turn a year later but his patchy club form denied him any chance of a recall.
Before putting his international career on hold he played 11 games for Nigeria and scored four goals, no thanks to injuries which restricted him to few games for his club West Brom before he was released at the end of the season,
The Sunderland forward has experienced an upturn in fortunes since his move to the Stadium of light, where David Moyes the man who gave him his breakthrough at Everton is coach.
He scored his first goal in over a year in the English Premier League shortly before the league went on break for international games, netting in the 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth.

Ekong has formed a formidable partnership with Leon Balogun in the heart of Nigeria’s defence, but Joshua who won the U-17 World Cup for Nigeria in 2007 as a defender believes Balogun is the brain behind the success of the duo.
”Troost-Ekong is good in his own right but I think he is suspect, he is not entirely convincing with the ball at his feet. Painful to say but I think he is overrated,” he told Owngoalnigeria.com.
”Balogun is the real deal, a complete footballer, good with or without the ball. He is a defender’s defender while Troost-Ekong is a cultured, old school centre back, pace, power and aerial ability. No real finesse.
”They are working well anyway. I like the nickname “Oyibo Wall”, it gives their partnership confidence to do more. But a suitable back-up is needed for the duo. Gernot Rohr would be worried in the event of one getting injured”.

Na wa. How is Ekong overrated, abeg? He thinks it's easy to be the finest defender in the Scandinavia to the extent that a German tactician could say that he is above the level of clubs like Gent. He should keep quiet! |

forgiveness: Brian Idowu can play RB, LM, RM and DMF.
He should replace Shehu Abdullahi.
Tiago Ilori can also play RB, CB and DMF but..... Idowu plays Right-Back, Right Midfield and Left Midfield. But he can't play DMF. See attached image. So he can't replace Shehu directly.
Tiago Ilori plays only Centre-back. See attached image. He doesn't play RB and DMF. Even if he can play, Ilori has not played a single match since September 2015.
Try again.

forgiveness: You are right about the two reasons we need a player but I insist Shehu Abdullahi is the wrong choice for those two reasons.
We have better players that can play three positions too and that is what I am talking about. Who are the better players you have in mind? Players that can directly replace Shehu in those positions he can be used. |

Teempakguy: I think there has been a misunderstanding. I am actually a young adult with my life ahead of me: as they say. I haven't finished my first degree, and I in fact come in contact with several members of the opposite sex regularly.
I think the key is motivation. an exam, no matter how difficult will be easily passed by someone who has the motivation to do so. someone such as me, who lacks the motivation to engage in romantc affairs is most certainly expected to find them troublesome.
what I find interesting is other guys of my age and even older. You, for example. seem rather motivated for things like this. while I am not. Pardon me...you should face your studies. Damn...faceless Nairaland! |
