ARK ENCOUNTERS OF THE WEIRD KIND
Who else noticed Ken Ham's Ark Encounters religipark opened to paying visitors on the 7th of July. The park features what Ham believes is a full-sized replica of Noah's Ark and was built to "spread the truth of God’s Word".
But what was in God's word? Apparently, God decided to make a new start with life on Earth. So he planned to kill every living thing in a world-wide flood except for a single family and breeding pairs of each kind of creature. He would save these specimens by asking 540-year-old Noah to build a boat with his wife and three sons, Japheth (40), Shem (38), Ham (36) and their wives.
The boat was to be made of wood and had to be large enough for Noah's family and all the animals, with enough food and fresh water to last a full year. The four men and four women accomplished this task in 60 years or so and then God gave them seven days (yes, seven) to find all the kinds of animals across the entire globe, transport them to the boat and get them aboard.
Luckily it all went swimmingly well, no animals died in transit and the boat was filled by the time God unleashed the terrible onslaught of water that, within 40 days, covered everything, even Mount Everest.
So how did Ken Ham show the truth of God's word?
He built a boat that is not seaworthy at a cost in excess of $100 million. It was designed by experts in large structure design using the latest computer aided design and structural analysis software.
He employed over 1,000 craftsmen in the construction together with an unknown number of labourers and volunteers. Power tools were used extensively during the build and heavy lifting equipment was on site until completion. Instead of wooden dowel fixings that Noah would have used, Ham used 95 tonnes of metal plates and fasteners.
He used some 4,400 tonnes of finished timber, transported to site in a fleet of heavy trucks. Preparing timber in the sizes and to the accuracy required was an exacting task. So much so, that only one sawmill in the USA, Colorado Timberframe, could accomplish it using the latest computer-controlled power mills.
Ham built a boat that Noah could not possibly have built, that does not float and contains not a single living animal (although there are several stuffed replica animals).
The entire project, far from spreading the truth of God’s Word, shows it to be a complete lie. |

Someone said it was time we unshackled Onazi and give him a more advanced role. That is, have someone sit behind him to shield the defence. He used a term, a kind of Vidal.
I disagree because with Etebo and Mikel in the side, it will prove difficult playing Onazi ahead of any.
So, if Onazi does not want to sit, then he needs to make space for another. I agree with you. |

He can produced even more than Etebo did since he packs skills with his work rate. Then Nwobodo is an excellent choice too. Bundle of skills, hardworker. I want Rohr to give him a chance. |

The discussion is not Mikel Roaming. Mikel roamed in the game against Zambia. Iheanacho played attack midfield and Onazi shielded.
The discussion is Onazi Roaming. Which is a No, No. I have no business with Onazi in this discussion. I rewatched the match today and he is not as bad as I first thought. This discussion is about Mikel. He can sit with Onazi and free up one space ahead of him for Iheanacho, Iwobi, Etebo or Aluko. |

Mikel is not sitting. He creates for others with his simple ticking passes. He keeps us possessive with his passing.
If Mikel plays as a pivot with Onazi, Onazi has to sit and Mikel roam. Onazi is not a better passer than Mikel, long or short.
So if Onazi does not want to shield the defence, he should make way for someone who is ready. What is wrong with Mikel roaming? Is this going to be the first time he is doing it? Mikel is one of the finest DMFs in the world.
We would need to try out different formations in the Eagles. And the prospect of playing Iheanacho, Iwobi, Etebo or Aluko is very enticing. All of them can give good passes.

NIGERIA VS. ALGERIA: FIVE THINGS WE LEARNED

1. The ship is steady under Rohr:
There hasn’t been any form of stability in the senior team since the African Cup of Nations triumph of 2013, with coaching instability breeding a sense of uncertainty.
However, under the watch of Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles are playing more as a unit, with motivation and determination to succeed. Whatever magic the German tactician has worked, he’s transformed the team and has finally got Nigeria believing again.
https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/Goal_Nigeria/5b/73/nigeria-national-team_m5tb46xirw861vnkbqhwwzc2b.jpg?t=1548002008&w=480
2. The team bond is growing ever stronger:
Football is supposed to be a team sport, but many at times, the players try to make it an individual affair which often doesn’t bring the desired result.
Such has been the case with the Super Eagles in the past, where going for personal glory was more important than the team. However with Rohr on the touchline, there’s a better bond among players, and the result is more confidence and the fans loving our football.
https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/Goal_Thailand/93/92/victor-moses_kd3alzx15poj17jbm94ojlp35.jpg?t=1542447376&w=480
3. Moses is the man of the moment: Victor Moses started the new season with uncertainty over his future at Chelsea and his Super Eagles status was also put into question having played below par in recent times. However, a reversal of fortunes under Antonio Conte meant fans are seeing the best of the 25-year-old. Those fortunes have overflowed into the national team, and his dominant display against the Desert Foxes means there is more than enough to be happy about regarding the direction he is going.
https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/Goal_Nigeria/34/41/kenneth-omeruo_1ad2azmnxtmub1w2mcbga1p3rp.jpg?t=1548002008&w=480
4. The defence needs to be better:
It has become a regular occurrence to see the Super Eagles backline falter when the team is in a leading position. This allows the opposition to gain momentum and that’s what happened against Algeria. The defenders could not contain the pace of the North Africans when they threatened. There is need for the defence to remain focused at all times in future games otherwise a comfortable lead could slip out of our hands.
https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/Goal_Nigeria/2d/42/daniel-akpeyi-of-nigeria_16grmtxkd7knq1ic37gv0k9zjj.jpg?t=2022962950&w=480
5. Ikeme is the undisputed number one:
When it was announced that Carl Ikeme was withdrawn from the squad due to injury with Daniel Akpeyi coming in as his replacement and starting ahead of Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Alampasu, there was pessimism about the Chippa United goalie’s chances of filling in for his compatriot. He looked very shaky all evening, lacking focus and composure, and even though Nabil Bentaleb’s goal was not his fault, Akpeyi doesn’t have the kind of authority that Ikeme does between the sticks.
Source: http://m.goal.com/s/en-za/news/4622/africa/2016/11/13/29473832/nigeria-vs-algeria-five-things-we-learned The tone of this article shows the hand of Solace Chukwu. As much as I like him, he is like goodjoe, when he likes a player he likes him, when he doesn't, he doesn't. He doesn't like Ekong and he is always criticizing him unfairly. Someone who thinks Ekong's performance in the olympics was a fluke. For the life of me, that defence was solid and if not for the lapses in DMF, Algeria would not have scored. The chances Algeria had were from the lapses in the DMF.
I say that this nairaland thread is perhaps the best source of information about the Super Eagles on the net. |

safarigirl: I remember saying on this thread, when the formation came out that Kelechi cannot play as a lone striker.
Well, we've seen that. He's least effective in that role, hopefully, Rohr can play him behind Etebo or with Etebo in the next match. No one has to be dropped from this team Etebo would not be effective as the lead striker. He plays great as a SS, AMF or box to box midfielder. Someone has to go for a striker like Ighalo, Olanrewaju or Fanendo Adi; someone who can hold the ball and score as well. |

Icon4s: But Moses now plays as a LWB does that mean in the fore-seeable future that Rohr would no longer want to play him as a Wing Forward?
Shehu Abdullahi plays as a DM bt he is more useful to us a RB. Ndidi has also played RB. Omeruo also played RB yesterday. These are not positions these lads play in their clubs.
What of oga Mikel that plays DM at Chelsea bt plays as CM or Am for the Super Eagles.
Ronaldo and Nani were the two strikers for Portugal at the last Euros while also David Alaba played as an AM.
In the national teams coaches field players according to needs of the team.
I personally see Success as a striker that can also operate from the wings. We need to try him in that position for any of our friendlies. I need Iheanacho's more involvement in the game . When he(Iheanacho) plays as AM he plays as though we have an extra attacker on the pitch. He is like a beast in that position.
The team needs a beastly striker like Success and a beastly AM like Iheanacho.
If the problem would be "we dnt want to drop Etebo" then that is no problem IMO. Then Etebo should compete for shirt with Iheanacho, Iwobi or Mikel. Or is that not the kind of competition we have been clamouring for? This team is still evolving and in every game we will keep having 1 or 2 new quality players until the World Cup proper.
We need a quality natural CF. Success is no longer prolific. His clubs have dulled the goal-scoring potentials by constantly playing him as a winger. Don't place 100% faith in him as a striker with the Eagles. Let's see him in camp first. Left to me, he will have to battle with Moses, Simon, Musa, Iwobi and Imoh for the wings.
This Kelechi issue ehn...I don't think he has an automatic shirt in the Eagles again if Etebo continues to play like a beast he's playing and we want to try out better lone strikers. Well, like you said, that's what we want. |

goldfish80: Akpeyi = He was solid enough between the poles. Commanded and organised the defence thus neutralising the Algerian threat from set pieces. The goal he conceeded was honestly a good shot straight to the roof. I've seen cech, Courtouis, Buffoon conceed such goals. Simply put, the ball was well struck by Bentaleb, partly because he had all the time to pick his spot. 7/10
Omeruo = was tidy in possession and strong to tackle. He matched Brahimi pace for pace. Most times he out paced Brahimi. Although am not surprised by this because durring the course the season he has been the most improved Nigerian defender. I have to say this, Brahimi over the past few seasons have proved a handful for world class defenders in the Champions league. Big probs to Omeruo for neutralising him. 8,5/10
Uwa Echiejile = (As an apostle of experience) Ive always said Echiejile is a big game player. The most experienced defender and by a country mile the defender with the most caps for the eagles. This guy knows what it's all about to compete at the highest level. He masterfully neutralized Mahrez. Mahrez could still be in his pocket as I type this. Uwa have yet again proved that experience is a huge factor that can't be thrown away. Kudos 10/10
BALOGUN/EKONG = Theses guys were rock solid all night. They double teamed on Slimani and gave the Algerian no sniff at all. Their proficiency reduced the Algerians to shoot from outside the box. They certainly dominated and owned every aerial battles they went in for. It was a promising performance by the pair. 9.5/10
Onazi = This guy was a soldier as usual today. He pressed and stifled the Algerians in midfield. This young man bleed for the shirt, even put his career on the line when he made that last ditch effort to deny the Algerians. He got injured and yet soldered on. Nigerians have been critical of the eagles in the past for lacking the zeal and effort to compete, here we are with a guy who is ready to die on the pitch to make sure we win, instead of giving him the praise he deserves, we rather throw him under the bus.
The goal we conceeded came as a result of Onazi going after Brahimi who cut back the ball to Bentaleb, unfortunately Etebo was out of position and the CBs were occupied with Slimani so they didn't press up to pressure Bentaleb. 8,5/10
Etebo = What a footballer we have on our hands. This guy ran the show in midfield. His pace and power proved too much for the Algerians at times. He put in a shift today and crowned it all by chalking an assist for the second goal. For those critical of Npfl players(cc Icon4s) , I hope you watched Etebo who was a player for Warri Wolves just last year. Another dynamite we have in the Npfl last season was Nwobodo (watch out for him)
8.5/10
Mikel Obi = It was a solid day in the office for the captian. His lack of game time showed abit in the first half but he picked it up in the second. He Oozed class and ran the Algerians down. He gassed out at the 70-75minute mark and was duely substituted. 8/10
Alex Iwobi = The young Arsenal man had a tough day today. He struggled in the first period because the Algerians had 2men on him all game. They certainly were scared of his abilities. He showed class when he was with the ball. And there I say he has the best first touch of any football player in the world at the moment. And that nasty piece of skill to put the Algerian guy on the poster will make a good Internet meme for awhile.. Oh dear! 8/10
Victor Moses = incredible performance. This guy was like a tank today. Bejesus! He showed the Algerians clean pair of heels time after time. They simply didn't know how to deal with him. Detailing 2 players to mark out Iwobi left Moses to run amork. Simply his best performance yet for the super Eagles. He should share Man of the match award with Uwa Echiejile. 20/10
Iheanacho = I don't want to say I told you so, but I can't help it. Ihenacho not a proper striker. His best position is playing off a striker. Playing him as the top striker neutralized his influence. He had no shot on target today and certainly was dominated by the Algerians aerially. However, I can see the sense in playing him up front today certainly because we needed the insurance of Etebo in midfield, hence Rohr had to do without Brown/Odion. 5/10
Gernot Rohr = The master tactician proved once more his tactical acumen. What a find by the Nff. His substitutions were understand and spot on! The timing of Musa's introduction was right on the money.
Such a shame Mr Rohr wasn't the chosen one immediately Keshi was sacked. He was the real MVP today. 10/10 Love this! But you goofed on Onazi. Onazi and Etebo were not on the same level |

Icon4s: He makes more impact as an AM/SS.
I fancy Success more in that role. We can even try Ahmed Musa as a CF in a friendly. If Success plays as a winger for his club, it will be difficult to tell Rohr to play him as a lone striker in the Eagles. |

Guys, we have to discuss o. Kelechi is not effective as a lone striker as seen in City and Eagles yet if he has to play as a SS, one of the guys in the midfield today would have to go (Etebo, Mikel, Onazi/Ndidi). How practicable is this?

Deserves a special round of applause. Most improved player and I wonder how Rohr did it. Defensively solid, helped the midfield by shifting in to work the midfield players.
Kept his position and reduced the gaps. He dropped into the eighteen yard box to help the central defenders keep the Algerian forwards away.
Still left gaps a few times, with more games and time with Rohr, Echiejile might become a trusted left-back. You see now that E hiejile is not as bad as you always say.
You should apologize for saying a player who has not played for more than 8 months should be considered ahead of him.Hehehe |
