I guessed that this would happen.
Unstructured behaviour is already threatening to kill the poetry club before it starts.
The poem analysis has been derailed midway, and now everyone is just posting their own poems.
I had hoped for better, but knowing Nairaland, I am far from surprised.
Erm we can always go back to the poem analysis bros.

PS: I love your moniker. Reminds me of Darth Nihilus, the Darth Lord of the Sith in George Lucas' Star Wars franchise.

A thousand Nairalanders watching you in 3D screen.
Ah,the Queen's beauty when she's young can be compared to the sky when its blue.
But Joseph's ink curves and straightens, drools, for rozzay and now the Queen too?
Ah,lend me a lengthy minute, for infedility before I get Joseph sued.....

They just want to feel good that they can speak English

I blame Nigerian secondary schools for not teaching many Nigerian languages grin seriously. I would have had A1 in Itsekiri and not F9 in Yoruba
Bottom line is many of us don't really speak 'Queens English'. We speak our own version and make annoying corrections all over social media.
EducationRe: 10 Most Annoying Nigerian Media English Expressions. by joseph1832(m): 11:10am On Nov 26, 2014
People often mistake or have little understanding of the word 'communication'.

Patrick Obahiagbon will blow grammar from now til thy kingdom come and many will applause him without having understood what he's saying- communication not established.

A market woman will make a grammatical blunder many will rush to correct her- communication established.

We like pointing our flaws to ridicule ourselves. If you want to correct a person's grammatical expression, do so without making a mockery or monkey of the person.

Cheers.

This is what you should expect when most of our reporters and editors are SSCE holders or graduates of other fields. How many of them read Journalism? most of them by chance found themselves reporting for a medium, They don't really have passion for the profession which would definitely make learning difficult for them.

Thanks so much Op. As an upcoming journalist, I will with all energy available take into cognizance the pointed mistakes and corrections.
Before you go ahead and heap praise on the OP, wouldn't it be prudent to ask the OP of his qualifications as regards the English Language.

Otherwise I believe this is a clear case of 'teacher no teach me nonsense'.
Christianity EtcRe: 10 Ways Atheism Qualify As A Religion by joseph1832(m): 10:58am On Nov 26, 2014
AllNaijaBlogger:
As a christian with many muslim co-workers, I have to ask how atheism is a religion?

What do they worship?
Do they have a god?
What are their religious practices?
What are their religious symbols?
Atheism is not a religion. It is just the belief in the non existence of gods or God.

Many mistake it to be religion.

9 MONTHS.

Oh sing,freedom song
for mother,child and 'dada'
the heave as placenta
strings are detached
at the right time.

Sing the song of nine
of safe delivery in time.

Oh dance,the toddler's dance,
the shaky legs quivering
to the tune of mama's voice
dance to the solos of nne's lullaby
rocking to slumber,
papa and nwa.

Sing the song of nine
of safe delivery in time.

Oh,cry with wide open mouth
yell for a gulp of milk
off mama's pouch
gnaw at those brea.sts
and claw to your satisfaction,child.

Dance the dance of time,
chant for the fruit of nine.

Christening,drinks and loud chatter
tell,what name would junior bear?
Nkem? Ola? Sanusi?
What beyond the clouds,do you see?

Shout,out in prime,
fruitful wails of time.

Nice. Check this out.

Attraction is what draws me to you
Distraction and retraction no more
Opposite poles attract
But with you, like poles attract

The power of you I can not phantom
For I cower at the power of your presence
Be it solar, nuclear, fusion, fission or hydro I can not say
All I know, I am attracted to you the way a magnet is attracted to iron.

*just goofing around*.

Seriously?

This op is very very very elitist and ridiculous!!

Even UK and USA newspapers have their grammatical idiosyncrasies

See the nonsense the op is saying?

"As at the time of" is actually grammatically correct and more applicable to the sentence.

"at" is more applicable than "of" when talking about time- eg-

-at what time do you close?
-It was at 10pm he died.

And to see that many Nairalanders are supporting this ridiculous op! Wow. English is dead
You'll have to wonder who made the OP a guru of the English Language. You see many of them here on Nairaland correcting people grammar as if they're proficient in the language.

lolz. Naso na @tosyne2much.
This life/country is already too hard and serious. We need means of unwinding and sincerely Nairaland provides it @times.

The people that exude unconscionable levels of odious and rakish attitude here are the acclaimed 'mature ones'.
I think being civil is a thing of the mind, it can't be narrowed down to one set.

You have said it all. Check traffic of threads, those jonsing threads pull more traffic than the 'serious ones'. There is something the mods know about how these thing(s) works- that we don't. My own is that, every one should be civil.

Nope, I don't get your drift, Sir.
It's a name + pet name.
Well I am actually not surprised you reason this way! The country is hard, yes it is but I tell you we as Nigerians are not serious!. The jonsing thread as you said pull more views, but what else do you expect from docile people, people who no not when matters are getting out of hand!.

Let me give you an example: Iran threatens Nigeria with nuclear strike-2,352 views and 321 comments. D'banj proposes to Tonto Dikeh- 125,361 views and 80,651 comments. This is what you see here on Nairaland.

The blatant truth about a people who don't know what to take serious. I tell you, the unserious ones are the very reason why we remain a stagnant country.

You mentioned civility, well do you expect an illiterate to be civil or one who doesn't know the meaning of the word. Believe me Kachisbarbie we humans are not civil the least bit. Take away the laws governing us or put a human in a tight corner then our true nature is revealed, just like Thomas Hobbes said "Homo homini lupus est".

I sit down in the corner of my room sometimes and think if it will be possible if nigerians can just co-operate for once and stay at home during the general elections and let Jonathan and Buhari decide whoever they want to put on the seat. Since we have rip the dividends of democracy since 1999,I see no reason why we should keep voting for politicians that don't even care about us and fail woefully at the end... Believe this are times we need FELA,cos he is the only one that could make Nigerians see reason... As for me o,I jus did the voter card but I'd die if I ever vote..
In the words of chief Zebrudaya: "Fa fa fa, Fao". The picture below clearly show my stand!.

»joseph1832« You said facebook is kind boring lately and Nairaland seems to be fun

Let me tell you something, those you refer to as immature ones are actually the ones making it lively and fun

If everybody starts acting like a matured man and woman on Nairaland therby creating sensible threads and comments, it will be so boring more than you could eva imagine
My good man, there's a fine line between funny and stupid.

Me saying Nairaland is fun is not the kind of fun many engage in. My definition of fun defers from yours.
