The Enugu State University Of Science And technology (ESUT) on Wednesday, 13th of September, 2017 commenced the University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) screening for no fewer than 45,000 candidates seeking admissions there for the 2017/2018 academic session.

This was made known on the university official website www.esut.edu.ng

It is also made known that the university’s cut-off mark had been pegged at 180 as the minimum.

Heartbreaking Story How 6year Old Boy Who Went For Holiday Drowned In Soakaway In Jos

News reaching our desk narrates how a 6year old boy who came for a holiday in Jos drowned in a soak-away 3days ago and was found dead this morning, 5th September, 2017.

An eye witness narrated to to JTownConnect Nigeria as thus:

This happened in St Joseph Catholic Church Jos. In the church compound, there was a soakaway dug so water could always gather when there is too much rain. The family in which the boy came for holiday lives in the church boysquarter. The boy got missing for 3 days, after much finding, he was nowhere to be found.On Monday morning, 4th September, 2017, one of the family member coincidentally came around the soakaway, found the boy slippers, she called the rest of her family members and some men were called to search the soakaway, they used a tall stick to search the water, after few seconds, they felt something heavy, when it was pulled up, behold it was the body of the boy.

School was supposed to resume next week, lets hope the boy parent receive the sad news in good terms. May his soul rest in peace

In a shocking development a 30year old man has been apprehended by the police for defiling a 2-year old girl.

A Jos Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama, North Local Government Area, on Wednesday remanded one Hambali Musa, in prison for allegedly r*ping a two-year-old girl, The Nation reports.

The presiding judge, Suleiman Lawal, denied the accused bail, contending that the offence of rape was not bailable. Lawal adjourned the case till Aug.21 for mention.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Ibrahim Gukwat, told the court that one Aminun Musa reported the case on July 3, at Nassarawa Police Station.

Gukwat said Musa, of Dulla Jos, reported that on June 29, his wife Layuza Lukman, informed him that the little girl jerked and cried endlessly when she tried to wash her private part.

The prosecutor said when the toddler was asked what the cause of her pains was, she mentioned the name of the accused as the one who had carnal knowledge of her.

The prosecutor said the offense contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and his prayer for bail was turned down by the court.

A Rivers State High Court, has sentenced to death three persons in connection to the lynching of 4 students in Aluu Community in 2012.

The Court presided over by Justice Nyordee has also discharged and acquitted the remaining 4, TVC reports.

According to the Judge, the prosecution failed to prove it’s case of murder against the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th accused persons beyond every reasonable doubt.

He however found the 1st to 3rd defendants guilty of murder.

As seen online between one Blessing Nkiru and Ndubuisi Nnaike Henry fight over a Facebook status update.

According to Blessing who called out on Ndubuise, alleged that Ndubuise copied her post word to word without giving credit to her. On approaching him via inbox, Ndubuise claimed she has no prove that the post belong to her, this argument therefore lead to showers of insult between the two users.

A 25 year-old man, Micheal Atseng, who allegedly posed as ‘female’ s*x worker in Jos has been apprehended by men of the Plateau Police Command.

According to the command’s spokesman, ASP Terna Tyopev, the suspect, was arrested at Gwom Guest House, Hwolshe area of Jos.

“The hotel management alerted us that someone is lodging in their hotel who poses as a woman but with physical features of a man.

“We mobilised our men and at exactly 9:30 pm, he was accosted and had been in our custody, ” Tyopev said.

Tyopev, who described the suspect as a “habitual homos*xual’ said that in 2016, he was arrested by soldiers but returned to his normal business after he was released.

He said the suspect, who usually disguised as a female prostitute, had lured many men in need of s*xual satisfaction.

The spokesman described the suspect’s activities as ‘criminal’, adding that he was being thoroughly investigated.

“In the first instance, posing as someone you are not to deceive the public is criminal because only God knows how many men must have fallen victims of this act.

“Also, the law prohibiting homos*xuality is still in force in Nigeria and anyone caught must be made to face full wrath of the law.

“We have had a lot of armed robbery cases where people are robbed at gun point, and people with such character also have the tendency to commit such crime.

“So, investigations are ongoing to unravel the real motive behind this act, to see if he is involved in other criminal activities, and to also forestall this bad trend in Plateau, ” he said.

Tyopev called on those who patronised commercial s*x workers to be extra careful.

He urged the public to report to the police the presence of such persons in their vicinity to help curb criminality in the state. Watch videos below

A Facebook user identified Peter Rahab, has taken to the social networking site and shared the shocking photos and heartbreaking story of a baby who suffocated to death after being abandoned inside a walking talking leather bag at the Angwa Soya area of Jos, Plateau State.

The Nigerian government has stated that no one would be left out in the campaign to enlarge the tax revenue.

She said some beggars were earning millions and that “proceeds from begging are taxable. You are supposed to pay taxes even if your means of income is begging”.

Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun said this in Lagos at a lecture at PWC’s Business School, with the theme: ‘Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) Interactive Session for Executives and Business Owners.’

She said to ascertain the income status of the companies/individuals and their lifestyle, investigators would rely on information derived from Bank Verification Number (BVN), records of property ownership, records of foreign exchange allocation, and records of company ownership from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), among others.

Adeosun said: “We are using some firms to trace assets internationally.The investigators’ findings will enable us to compare the income and how much tax the company/person is really paying, and that gives us lots of information.


“But we encourage people to come up and pay their taxes willingly. You can register a high-end car. It tells me something about your income.

“So, we look at your tax returns. If you registered Mercedes E-Class and you are paying N100,000 tax, then something is wrong. Those are red flags. We now have the capacity to assess people accurately.

“We are trying to build an economy where we have oil and other things. It is going to be oil plus and wider economy”.

A commercial driver in Amoshe town, Meiran, Lagos State, has been detained by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, for allegedly killing his wife.

According to PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect, identified only as Benjamin, beat his wife to death for allegedly getting drunk.
It was said that the victim, Stella, together with three of her friends – Fatima, Kafaya – and a man, Wasiu, had gone to have fun in a nearby bar.

She was said to have returned home inebriated, which angered her husband.

Benjamin, 34 reportedly beat her to a pulp and when it appeared tha she was dying, he rushed her to a church for prayer. She was later taken to a hospital in the neighbourhood, where she was confirmed dead.

A resident, Mr. Samson Adedeji, stated that Benjamin usually assaulted his wife whenever she was drunk.

Adedeji said,

“The wife came back home on Saturday, July 1, drunk. Her husband was angry, but people begged him to allow her sleep. He didn’t heed to their plea. He beat her up seriously. It was the following day that I was told the wife died in a hospital.”

Another resident in the area, Mrs. Aribisola Amoshe, said although she did not know what transpired between the couple, there were marks of violence on the deceased.

The Elderly woman said,

“I learnt about the incident through a neighbour. Before her body was deposited in a mortuary, I saw it. There were injuries on her body.”However, Benjamin reportedly told the police that Stella was poisoned at a beer parlour.
He said,

“I think she was poisoned because she vomited. She went to drink with her friends. I didn’t beat her.”But one of the deceased’s friends, Fatimoh, who was also arrested by the police, refuted Benjamin’s claim.

“The four of us were together that day. We took a bottle of beer each. My friend died from the injuries inflicted on her by her husband. She didn’t fight with anybody at the bar,”

As reported by American medium that the Popular American music maestro, Don Moen is dead but the death is rumour yet to be confirmed.

The American medium reported that the gospel singer evangelist died after a short battle with stomach pain.

“An American singer-songwriter, pastor evangelist, Don Moen has died after short battle with stomach pain.

“His family confirmed that he died early this morning at General Acute Care (GAC) Hospital in California shortly after being rushed to the hospital.
