Yet again, another moment of grief in Plateau State as victims of the latest attack suspected to be Fulani herdsmen get a mass burial.

Report has it that, no fewer than 11 people were killed and many injured as a set of villagers who were reportedly returning from a market in Hoss village got ambushed. Unknown gunmen opened fire on their vehicle from the near by bushes.

According to reports from viewpointnigeria, these are names of the victims:

Simi Daniel, a 17 year old SS1 student in GSS Sopp, Riyom LGA of Plateau State needs help to survive.

Simi was shot in the thigh at point blank range by one of the soldiers manning the check point because she had refused his lustful advances.

On the 19th of October this year during a protest by people of the community against the soldiers, this particular soldier single out Simi and shot her in the leg, he wanted to finish her off with another shot but was stopped by another soldier who came along.

He proceeded by kicking her several times in the face and body.

Simi and another man Danjuma Kaze who was shot in the leg during the process with his son Irimiya Danjuma who was shot in the jaw were all taken to Plateau Hospital where they are currently on admission.

Simi is being taken care of by her grandmother who is too weak to cater for both of them at the moment.


(1) Her earlier scheduled surgery had been canceled due to lack of funds

(2) Her treatment has also been suspended because she couldn’t pay for blood given to her on arrival

(3) Simi Danjuma’s grandmother is the only person with her in the hospital.

The shooting if this girl, an unarmed civilian is in direct violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 which says women and girls MUST be protected in situations of conflict because they have been unduly targeted by those who should protect them and perpetrators of violence conflicts.

The Special Task Force in Plateau State, code named ‘Operation Safe Haven’ has confirmed a gun attack on commuters in Riyom LGA by yet to be identified persons.

The attack which occurred in the late hours of Tuesday, near Rim, sources say left about six people dead and at least three injured.

The victims who were returning from the Makera market on a Golf-3 car were reportedly ambushed by the assailants while offloading at Diyan junction near Gako village.

The assailants who were riding a vectra car, a source said had trailed the victims from the Rim junction in Makera village where a military checkpoint is located.

It was however not clear who was responsible for the attack, although a survivor claims he saw the attackers wearing army uniform.

When contacted, the STF Spokesperson, Capt. Umar Adams confirmed the incident but could not issue details.

According to him, the Task Force personnel were instantly mobilized to the scene on receipt of the information.

“By the time our troops arrived the scene, the attackers had fled but we are still doing our ground work to see if we can trace and apprehend them,” he said.

Civil authorities in the locality were unavailable for comments as at the time of this report.

A Saudi prince was killed on Sunday when a helicopter with several officials on board crashed near the kingdom’s southern border with war-torn Yemen, state television said.

The news channel Al-Ekhbariya announced the death of Prince Mansour bin Moqren, the deputy governor of Asir province and son of a former crown prince.

It did not reveal the cause of the crash or the fate of the other officials aboard the aircraft.

News of the crash comes as Saudi Arabia pursues a sweeping purge of the kingdom’s upper ranks, with dozens of princes, ministers and a billionaire tycoon arrested as Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman cements his hold on power.

Already viewed as the de facto ruler controlling all the major levers of government, from defence to the economy, Prince Mohammed is widely seen to be stamping out traces of internal dissent before a formal transfer of power from his 81-year-old father King Salman.

The helicopter crash also comes after Saudi Arabia on Saturday intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile near Riyadh’s international airport after it was fired from Yemen in an escalation of the kingdom’s war against Iran-backed Huthi rebels.

On Sunday, Saudi Arabia announced rewards of up to $30-million for information that would help arrest or track down some of the top Huthi rebel leaders and planners.

A Saudi-led coalition that began its military intervention in Yemen in 2015 has accused regional rival Iran of supplying ballistic missiles to the rebels.

The missile attack was the first aimed by the Shiite rebels at the heart of the Saudi capital, underscoring the growing threat posed by the raging conflict in Yemen.

The war in Yemen has increasingly spilled across the border.

Saudi Arabia led the intervention to prop up the government of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi after the Huthis forced him into exile.

Hoping for a quick victory against what it saw as Iranian expansionism in its backyard, Riyadh has so far been unable to remove the Huthis from Yemeni capital Sanaa.

The Instagram account of Cool Fm controversial On Air Personality, Daddy Freeze has been banned.

A search on the photo/video sharing platform reveals that his account cannot be found.

According to Freeze, his Instagram account was hacked by some pastors who are against him.


He tweets;


This comes days after he exchanged words with singer Timi Dakolo on the platform, over tithing and divorce.

A renowned Muslim cleric and seasonal blogger, Yusuf Olalekan Abdullahia was yesterday, Friday, 27th October assaulted in Osun State by some members of security operatives believed to be from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS over alleged accusations of been an internet fraudster (Yahoo man).

One of the day I'll never forget in my life is Today., On my way to Jumat, I was stopped by an unknown guy, he asked me, "where are you heading to?

He held my hand and then dragged me to the other side of the road where a mini bus was parked. On getting to the bus, two other guys jumped out with an Ak47 all putting on black. I was like. "OMG". "This is Federal SARS", I said to myself.

The Young man sitting in front of the bus ask me to come closer, I did and he asked what I was doing? I was just confused and don't know what to say. He asked me to enter the bus without giving me chance to say a word.

I stepped in, the next question was, How many years have you been in the game? I asked, what game?, I politely told him I was on my way to Jumat, before I could say one more word, I was landed a heavy slap that got me deaf for 10 seconds.

He Said, "You're doing yahoo yahoo abi. Give me your phone and he asked me to unlock it."

He checked my Facebook messenger. The first chat he saw was the one I had with a hosting company, DomainKing.ng, because I was having issue with one of my blog so i was having a chat with their customer service.

He said, "you think am a f**l, so you're doing online dating right? I said this is domainking, I want to buy a domain name for one of my blog.

He went next to my photos, viewed all my photos but could not see anything related to yahoo. He then got angry for picking the wrong guy. Now he checked my email and saw a mail I used for my USA Google Adsense. On seeing it, One of them gave me another hit on my face, this time a heavy punch.

He ask the driver to move the bus, they took me from Tinumola area in Osogbo to Offa road along Ejigbo. That's about 2 Km if am not mistaken. On our way, they stopped at a particular place which I don't really know. Their boss stepped down with one of his boy and I was left with a lady officer and the other guys in the Bus.

The lady asked, "Where are your parents? I said they are in PH. OK, do you have someone to call around or we should we go to the station. I replied MA, please help me. She slapped me a thunder slap and said, "Do you think we are f**ls, better corporate with us.

OK. Can you afford 100k or we should take you to the station, she said. She added that, if they should take me to their office I will pay 200k and I just keep silent. Now the boss come back and asked how far, has he corp-orated. The lady replied No, rather he wanted to run away.

The boss asked me how much I have in my bank account so we can go to the next available ATM. I replied, "sir I don't have anything, please am not a yahoo guy, am just cleric and a seasonal blogger".

After some minutes, their boss asked me to come, he gave me my phone and ask me to go.

They left me all alone in an area I don't even know. I walked the whole day before getting to my destination

What appears to be, perhaps the longest elusive academic jinx in Nigeria was recently broken by Ozibo Ekele, a 2016 graduate of the famed Ibadan School of History (Department of History), Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan, where he finished top of the Faculty and Department with a B.A. (First Class Honours) and a CGPA of 6.6 out of a possible 7.0.

By this feat, he became the first person to graduate with First Class Honours in the 69-year-old Department. Ozibo who is also a 2013 Mass Communication graduate of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, is therefore expected to cart away several academic Prizes in the forthcoming 2017 Convocation ceremony of the University of Ibadan.

These include, Best Graduating Student of both Faculty of Arts and Department of History; Dr. Robert Bradbury Memorial Prize; Irving and Bonar Prize; Oba Lipede Prize; CUSO Nigeria Limited Prize; J.A. The establishment of the Plateau state disabilities rights commission has been described a bold step to giving the physically challenged a sense of belonging. State commissioner of local government and chieftaincy affairs, Dayyabu Garga stated this when the chairman albino foundation Plateau state chapter, Abel Mvenoaga led other members on a visit to his office.

The albino foundation was established in 2006 for persons with albinism and vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities in the society.

The foundation equally partners with disability organizations and institutions in Nigeria to ensure that person with albinism and other vulnerable groups are socially and economically empowered.

Plateau state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Dayyabu Garga said his ministry in collaboration with all the 17 local government chairmen in the state is to engage them in ventures that will improve their lives.

Garga urge them to accept their condition as an act of God.

Earlier, Plateau state chairman Albino foundation, Abel Mvenoaga said they are at the commissioner’s office to seek areas of collaboration with the government to involve them in appointment and decision making.

Abel commended Governor Simon Lalong for establishing the Plateau state disability rights commission.

Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Thursday in Abuja commended Nigerians for the outpouring of prayers and show of goodwill to President Muhammadu Buhari since he returned to the country.

Receiving a delegation of well wishers to the President, led by Amb. Eze N. Ebere, Adesina said President Buhari deeply appreciated the prayers during his ill health, and after his recovery, from both the Christian and Muslim communities.

The Special Adviser also said the positive reviews on the President’s handling of conflicts in various parts of the country had been most encouraging for the administration, noting that the President remains focused in serving Nigerians, and ensuring an improvement in the lives of all.

“The President really appreciates all the prayers, and will like to say a big thank you for your support for his leadership style and handling of the conflicts,’’ he said.

Adesina assured the delegation of the President’s commitment and transparent leadership style, promising to deliver a letter brought by the group.

In his remarks, the leader of the delegation, who is also the National Patron of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), said the association remains thankful to God for restoring the health of the President.

“We are here to commend the President over his leadership style, especially the way he handled the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) issue, and others, by ensuring that peace is restored across Nigeria,’’ Ebere said.

He pledged the association’s continued support for President Buhari’s administration.

The Justice of the Peace, an association, gave Adesina a special recognition as a “Peace Conservator’’.

Reports has it that another attack has just occurred at 7:30 pm this evening (24th October 2017) in Tarai hamlet of Jol, Riyom LGA.

Four people were said to have been ambushed by suspected Fulani militia as they were returning from a nearby village (Vwak), where they went to seek medical attention for Miss Suzana Choji Daniel (a 16 year old JSS 3 student at Government Secondary School, Rim) and her 29 year old cousin, Mr, Joel Choji).

As the group of 4 were walking, bullets were said to have been rained on them from nearby bushes, instantly killing the teenage girl (Suzana Choji Daniel). The remainder of the group of 3 then fled in different directions as they sought cover.

Two of the adults who were accompanying the patients were chased down by the assailants and shot multiply (i.e., late Mildred’s mother – Mrs Rebecca Daniel and Mr Dachung Yakubu). However they survived with life threatening injuries and are since receiving treatment at a hospital in Jos.

The other patient (Joel Choji – 29 years old) who ran in a different direction could not be found initially and as such was declared to be missing. However a quick search by youths from the Jol community, found his bullet riddled corpse amongst the bushes.

It would be recalled that Jol village has seen numerous attacks by herdsmen in the past few years (up to 27 by ViewPointNigeria’s count). Last week, the Operation Safe Haven operatives quit the village, purporting disagreements with youths in the community.

This would be the second attack in Plateau in the past 24 hours. Earlier yesterday evening, Fulani militia were purported to have attacked and burnt down Mai Farin Moto village in Jos North LGA.

ARMY MEDICAL OUTREACH

The attention of the State Government has been drawn to an on going medical outreach being undertaken by the Army in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
The State has been made to understand that the exercise is part of Army social responsibility to members of the public.

However, strong apprehension among the populace has followed the exercise leading to withdrawal of students from schools by parents, misconception of the actual motive behind the exercise by stakeholders, community leaders and a general reservation by the public for whom the outreach is intended.

To this end and to ensure no further escalation of the situation, His Excellency the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has contacted the Army Authories and advised for immediate stoppage of the medical outreach until wide sensitization is conducted to reassure people of its intentions and benefits. The exercise has therefore been put on hold.

Parents and guardians are strongly advised to stop withdrawing their wards from schools as the situation has been handled. All schools within the State will remain open as there is no cause for alarm! Community leaders, Presidents General and all Stakeholders are hereby reassured of the commitment of the Governor and the State Government to the wellbeing of Ndi Anambra.

The State Government also strongly condemns observed rhetorics on social media completely misrepresenting the situation with insinuations of spread of diseases and death of students in schools arising from the exercise.

The Monkey Pox epidemic, was first detected in Bayelsa state, appears to have spread to Enugu as there a confirmed case of the epidemic in Enugu State.

One confirmed case has been recorded in the state, while 1 other suspected cases are under investigation.

This latest outbreak was confirmed by a medical practitioner in the Enugu State University teaching hospital, he shared it in one of the WhatsApp group to alert others.

According to the statement, the disease which has no known treatment or vaccine exhibits similar symptoms to smallpox, but it is milder, and larger rashes appear on the skin.


The statement warns residents to avoid excessive handshakes and abstain from eating bush meat. regular handwashing is also advised.

The first reported cases of the Monkey Pox outbreak were recorded in the Fangbe area of Bayelsa state on October 5, where 13 people were hospitalised and 49 suspected cases quarantined.
