Just when you think you have seen it all, other surfaces. A young Nigerian man, who is identified as Prince Sanko took to social media to share what his Mom complained about after she attended a burial.

Sanko who took to his WhatsApp story alleged that his mother went to a burial after they served them food, everyone ate and departed to their various destinations.

Sanko's mother on returning home complained bitterly about how the soup they served her lacked salt.

A 24-year-old man, Godwin Banchir, who beat his 65-years-old mother to death for not responding to his greetings, was, yesterday sentenced to death by hanging by Plateau High Court, sitting in Jos.

Justice Daniel Longji, handed down the sentence as he found Banchir guilty of killing his biological mother.

Delivering the judgment, Longji said: “Going by the findings of this court, you Godwin Banchir, mercilessly took the life of your mother, Mrs Saratu Banchir, in cold blood.

“This sentence is mandatory, as the law states that any person convicted of murder shall be punished with death by hanging.

“The sentence of this court upon you is that you, Godwin Banchir, will be hanged until you are dead, may God have mercy on your soul,’’ he said.

It was gathered that the convict was first arraigned on June 6, 2016, charged with culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code punishable with death upon conviction.

The convict was said to have committed the crime on Jan. 21, 2016, when he used a stick to beat his mother to death.

Banchir in his confessional statement said that he returned from the farm on the said date and found his mother sitting in the compound and when he greeted her, she ignored him.

He said that infuriated him and he picked a stick and hit her.

In his words: “I got angry when she did not respond to my greetings, so I picked the stick of an axe and hit her around her ribs.

“She fell down and started shouting, which attracted our neighbours who came to beat me up and later took me to the police station.

“I have been having misunderstandings with my mother each time I return from the farm, she doesn’t cook for me on time, and she always quarrels with me whenever I want to bathe with the water she fetched from the stream.

“Her actions always annoyed me, I did not know that she was going to die from the beating she received from me.”

The sudden death of Chisom, a final year Medical student of the Anambra State Universty, Anambra State (ANSU) has left many of his friends in deep shock after the news was broken to them.

One Collins Akilas, a student of Enugu State University Of Science and Technology (ESUT) has been reportedly stabbed to death by some unknown personals.

JTownConnect metro gathered that the late Akila was a 400L student of ESUT from the department of Mass Communication.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says at current numbers, the programme costs $1,767,169.48 per day and over 183million dollars has been invested so far in the programme.



According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Osinbajo stated this in his keynote address at the closing ceremony of the 20th Annual Global Child Nutrition Forum held at Four Seasons Hotel in Tunis, Tunisia, on Thursday.

Osibanjo was quoted as saying over 9 million pupils in 49,837 public primary schools in 26 states across Nigeria benefitted daily.

According to Osinbajo, “The programme employs 95,422 cooks, and over 100,000 smallholder farmers linked to the programme, supplying locally sourced ingredients.

“This translates to 594 cattle, 138,000 chickens, 6.8 million eggs, 83 metric tons of fish that are procured, prepared, and distributed each week. As you can imagine, the quantity of starch and vegetables required for this programme on a weekly basis is equally impressive”

Tears flowed as the 19 year old University of Jos student, Shedrach D Kums who was shot dead inside the school premises on a Sunday afternoon after some military men invaded the school hostel and open fire on students.

Shedrach who is popularly known asd Kums is a 300level law student of University of Jos.

In continuation of the search and rescue of Maj IM Alkali (rtd) The COAS has constituted special task force to carry out a sting operation aimed at finally locating the whereabouts of the missing senior officer.

The first phase of the operation involved combing the entire Doi Du Community in Du District of Jos South LGA of Plateau State. 30 suspects were arrested.

Weapons recovered from Some of the Suspects Include, 3 X Locally Made Single Barrel Guns, 3 X Locally Made Pistols, 5 X 7.62 MM(SP) RDS, 30 X 9MM RDS, One Pistol Mag and an Empty Case.

Others Include 4 X Knives, One X Locally Made Sword, 3 Cutlasses, One Iron Rod, 2 PAIRS OF Boots, 3 X Vigilante ID Cards, 5 X Motor Cycles, One Tricycle, One Thousand Korean Currency Note, A Wrist Watch, One Power Bank ,25 Assorted Phones, 2 Car Keys, 2 House Keys and A Hoe. One Paul Majie, a 29-year-old unemployed man, on Thursday committed suicide in his room at Dadin-Kowa in Jos South Local Government of Plateau.

Shocked neighbours, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the incident, said that Majie’s lifeless body was found hanging in his room in the morning.

“We do not know why he did that, but we suspect he killed himself out of frustration,” a neighbour, who refused to disclosed his name, told NAN.

Efforts to speak with his family members proved abortive as they appeared to distraught to discuss the matter with anyone.

Mr Terna Tyopev, Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Police Command in Plateau, who confirmed the incident to NAN, said that Majie’s body lifeless body was found hanging in the morning.

“Today, at about 7:15.a.m, one Augustine Nyam of Dadin-Kowa area of Jos reported at our Rantya Division that Mr. Paul Majie had committed suicide.

“Our detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene of crime. On arrival, they brought down his motionless body and took it to the Specialist Hospital, Jos.

“Unfortunately, the doctor on duty confirmed him dead and the body was deposited at the mortuary in the same hospital, “he said.

Tyopev said that an autopsy would be conducted on the dead body to ascertain the real cause of his death.

He also said that investigation on the case was ongoing (NAN)

At about 10.30pm, 2/9/18, people in a moving vehicle arrived Latya and Lakwandet community, close to Guratopp in Rayfield Jos South.

Our correspondent confirmed that the gunmen shot and killed several people.

They came in a Hilux alighted in the community and began shooting people in a commando style, all these killings took less than 5 minutes to execute.

As at the time of this report, 11 people were killed and at least three persons are at Airforce Military Hospital receiving treatment for gunshot wounds

In a similar event, farmlands belonging to residents of Dorowa in Barkin Ladi LGA were yesterday morning found cut down.

The incident was said to have happened when gunmen arrived the town on the night of 1/9/2018 with sporadic gunshots.

Former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang and a 2019 Presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says Nigeria's Middle-Belt region deserves a chance to produce the next President for the country.

This he said is because the zone has yet to produce an elected President under the Nigerian constitution despite being at the centre of the country's sociopolitical growth.

"The Middle Belt is a huge statement about the Nigerian diversity. It is the glue of the north, the bridge of Nigeria, the guarantor of national unity and oneness, and has sustained the north over time," Jang said while declaring his intention to run for the office of the President in 2019.

Mr. Jang who is the current Senator of Plateau North in the National Assembly said the region should be given a chance "in the spirit of one Nigeria, for the inclusion of minorities, for the purpose of fair play and equity."

He assured that the country will experience robust transformation if given the mandate in the 2019 general elections slated for February 2019.

"The Middle Belt is a firm believer in Nigeria and the Nigerian project. Under me, the best of Nigeria will emerge," he said.

"I believe we can make it to the top ten nations of the world in no distant future. I have come to help position the country in that direction by purposeful leadership."

Jang who is currently standing trial for corruption vowed to foster justice, fairness and the rule of law while prioritizing peace and security nationwide.

He said, "Alongside growing the economy, all anti graft agencies will be strengthened and made to fight corruption within the confines of the rule of law.

"They will be given space to operate freely and independently, and periodic review of their laws will be undertaken.

"The fight against corruption will be total, balanced, consistent and sustained."

He also vowed to restructure the country's political system for better efficiency.
"The clamour for restructuring will be addressed in line with the provisions of our laws.

"Restructuring and reorganizing Nigeria to the comfort of all Nigerians is a task I will face with commitment.

"If we have operated a system for 58 years and Nigerians are asking for a review of the structures, there is no need to delay it further."

Jang is contesting the highest seat in the country's political leadership under the PDP alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed Makarfi and a host of other gladiators.

I was travelling with Peace Transport to the nearby state. They stopped our vehicle to search. They asked me to come down and i did. They asked me what i do for a living, i told them i'm a student perhaps i don't even wanna go further so i won't attract unnecessarily questions to myself so i quickly presented my school ID card.

While the interrogation was going on, one mad one just jumped on me, he said i'm a criminal, a fraudster and a cultist, Oga how? i asked. He slapped me and kicked me. I didn't even understand what was going on because i was confused. i tried fighting back and he cocked his gun to shoot me.

I was frightened. He asked me to kneel down and i did. He kicked me on my stomach and used his scissors to cut my Hair. Damn!! The people in the Bus couldn't say anything.

They were just watching as these guys tried to kill me there for NO REASON. After turning me to a mad man they forced me to enter the bus like that. Mehn those guys hate progress, they hate fine boys. God will judge them.

Ahead of the 2019 election, pictures of the Plateau State Gover, Bar. Simon Lalong was spotted on the street buying groundnut from a hawker.

Here is what he wrote:

Many people lose sight of who you are (I dare say you might also lose sight of who you are) because of the office you occupy or because they associate you with a level of power.

So, when they see you do things you ordinarily love, they see it as extraordinary.

To me, there is nothing more than being the ordinary human God created.

These pictures taken by my PA John made me laugh wholeheartedly that is why I'm sharing them.

On a normal day, this is who I am. I love peanuts, and the occasional banter with anyone I'd meet along the way.

Nigerian Government has scrapped Award of HND Certificates by Polytechnics.

The decision was reached at the Federal Executive Council, FEC, yesterday where the approval of a comprehensive reform of Nigeria’s tertiary education system was made.

In effect, the award of HND will be limited to only the students currently admitted for the programmes.

Also, all the programmes currently being run by polytechnics, which are not technology-based, and which are about 70 per cent, will be scrapped.


Under the new rule, the polytechnics will now become campuses of the proximate universities with the Vice Chancellors of those universities appointing provosts for the polytechnics, subject to the ratification of the Universities Councils.

The polytechnics will now be limited to award of the National Diploma (ND) while those desirous of further education will be awarded the Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) by the proximate university.

To kick-start the new policy, the nation’s two most prominent polytechnics – Yaba College of Technology and Kaduna Polytechnic – will henceforth be known as City University of Technology, Yaba and City University of Technology, Kaduna.

And to give legal teeth to these approvals, the FEC approved the submission of two Executive bills to the National Assembly for enactment.

With education being on the concurrent list, the states may wish to consolidate their tertiary institutions. But if they do not wish to follow the federal example, their programmes will continue to be regulated by the relevant agencies of the Federal Ministry of Education.

The first bill will concretise the setting up of the two city universities while the second will approve the preparation and consolidation of all federal polytechnics and colleges of education as campuses of proximate universities.

The Ministry of Justice will do the preparation and submission of the two bills to the National Assembly.

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, told journalists after the weekly meeting of the council that under the reform measures, his ministry would, however, continue to license private polytechnics and colleges of education for the award of qualification at ND and National Certificate in Education (NCE) levels.

He said, “There will be no more award of HND.

“After we have exhausted the current students under the programme, there will be no more award of HND. This means that there will be no fresh admission for HND programmes. And in addition, any programme that is not technical will be out of the polytechnics.

“About 70 per cent of polytechnic graduates are in the non-technical courses. It is going to be a rigorous implementation programme.”

A ministerial committee to ensure the smooth implementation of all that is required for the take-off of the reform initiatives is to begin work immediately.

Adamu said, “The HND certificate will remain a legal tender in Nigeria and holders of such certificate will continue to be recognised as the equivalent of first degree holders without discriminatory remunerations and limit to progression in the work place.

“The NCE certificate will be retained as the minimum teaching qualification at the basic level of education. Any higher qualifications by these private or state-owned polytechnics will be only affiliation with a university. So, HND is no longer in existence, but existing HND will be respected and considered legal tender.”

Two conjoined sisters, who became famous when they began their studies at a Tanzanian university last September, have died at the age of 21 following a long illness, the president of the east African nation announced on Sunday.

Maria and Consolata Mwakikuti, who were joined at the abdomen, become minor celebrities in Tanzania where the media had closely followed their path through high school.

Their admission to the Ruaha Catholic University in Iringa in September 2017 had marked a first in a country where disabled people are often marginalised or abandoned at birth.

They had begun a course in education with a view to becoming teachers in history, English and Swahili, when they became ill in January, notably suffering from cardiac problems.

“I am saddened by the death of twins, Maria and Consolata. When I last visited them at the hospital they prayed for the nation. My condolences to their family… Rest in peace my children,” President John Magufuli tweeted.

After an apparent improvement in their health, the sisters continued their treatment at a hospital near their university, where they died on Saturday.

The twins were abandoned by their mother after the death of their father, and later taken in by a Catholic mission.

In an emotional statement on state television last July, Maria urged parents not to “hide or lock up their handicapped children”.

“They must know they as human beings, handicapped or not, are equal and have the same rights,” she said.

At the time, the sisters, who enjoyed knitting and cooking together, thanked the teachers who helped them through high school, as well as the government who provided a vehicle to take them from their home to school each day.

“We didn’t expect this day to come, it is by the grace of God that we are here today,” said Consolata, the chattier of the two, on their admission to university.

JTownConnect Metro, learnt that the teen lady was said to be 3 months pregnant and was disowned by her father for being pregnant.

She then decided to take it out in other to be accepted back to the house and in the process she lost her life.

His wife is in Bus Admin final year and He is in Pub Admin 300l. So it affect the faculty not only one department.

One of Enugu State University of science and technology transport shuttle was involved in a Ghastly motor accident along uguwaji road, Enugu.


According to an eyewitnesses, one Raphael who also was in the shuttle, narrated that a black Seiana tying to invade a traffic hold up rammed into their bus.


According to him, the shuttle was conveying students who have exams, but after the incident, students were left stranded on the road.


He also narrated that there was no live lost only some serious damages on both vehicles.
