Cameroon Coach : Ex-Barcelona GK Rejected The Chance To Play Against NigeriaOne of the surprise names omitted from the Indomitable Lions squad that is set to travel to Nigeria for a World Cup qualifier against Nigeria this week is Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper André Onana. Cameroon manager Hugo Broos had to explain that he did not call up the former Barcelona youth-teamer because he refused to play for his country. ''I had an interview with André, he said that he no longer wants to be selected with the national team. He wants to concentrate on his club,'' Broos told reporters, according to camfoot.com. ''Honestly, I have a little doubt. I think the reason is elsewhere. I am really surprised at his decision'' . Onana's cousin, Sevilla Atletico netminder Fabrice Ondoa, has been included in the squad list. http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=24385

We must Beat Super Eagles – Christian BassongogCameroon danger man, Christian Bassongog, has sent a note of warning to the Super Eagles, ahead of the double header Russia 2018 FIFA World cup qualifying matches against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, which begins on September 1 in Uyo. The youthful Chinese Super League player, who was voted the Most Valuable Players player at the last AFCON has told FIFA.com that the Cameroonians are seeing the match against Nigeria as a must win, if they must remain in contention for the group ticket .According to information gathered from FIFA, Bassogog is “arguably the fastest player in the entire Indomitable Lions squad”, and he believes that the AFCON win and the FIFA Confederation cup may have prepared him specially for the great task, insisting that the game against the Super Eagles is one that the African champions must win. “Nigeria are a strong team,” he told FIFA.com. “They have very good players and many of them are playing in Europe. But we must defeat them if we are to maintain our qualifying hopes. We should take the game to them. We need to fight to defeat them. “Our players are young, but we are strong as a team,” he said of Cameroon’s progress under Belgian coach Hugo Broos. “He is a good coach. He knows what the players are good at so he can get the best out of us. In this team, everyone has his chance.” “These are matches I want to win,” he said. “We are not in an ideal position but these are qualifying games for the World Cup. I will do my utmost to help our team”. http://www.thebreakingtimes.com/we-must-beat-super-eagles-christian-bassongog/

Humility017: please remove ighalo and martins from that options.... I will prefer a combo of kayode and nacho start against Cameroon.... then the likes of success and iwobi can be introduced in the 2nd half... I can't risk ideye in that match....though... we can't afford miss chances You want to start kayode and nacho against cameroun You pipo think you are up against seychelles abi |

forgiveness: Ok. But you have not answered my question on why I should remove Ideye and Martins? Don't mind them. They don't want China based players but they want Mikel and they are scared of bassagog |

Icon4s: A striker that is only involved in build up play and no attempt at goal? Abeg.
The build up play you guys are always making reference to was it not bc of the Zambia game? Apart from that Zambia game please make reference to any other games Ideye was involved in any build up play worthy of note. When Mikel is in that AM position which forward player will not have a good build up play? If you recall in that Zambia game both Iheanacho and Iwobi were also involved in build up plays orchestrated by Mikel.
That's why I say put a very Lethal Iheanacho in front of Mikel the orchestrator. You are just shooting yourself on the foot Ideye was the one that assisted iheanacho's goal.Mind you ideye was the striker in that match Ideye might not score but he must surely assist You want to put iheanacho as a striker against cameroun... I laugh Against south Africa you saw how lost he was...no shot on target nothing nothing Play him as a striker against cameroun and he will be lost again

Icon4s: Yes, I knew you'll make reference to that Burkina Faso game because that was the only highlight of Ideye's game that is worthy of note through out his entire career with the Super Eagles. You forgot to mention his big flop at the 2013 Confederations cup.
Now comparing him with Musa: Musa did far better than Ideye did in the EPL plus Musa had more quality players to contend with in the starting lineup. And also Ideye is long past his peak and already midway through his declining curve while Musa can still get his spark back. You saw how he scored a brace against Togo even as a winger.
Ideye in China: Nothing worthy of note thus far. Is there any news about him scoring any goal? unlike what we have heard about Martins and Ighalo.
Abeg, no space for Ideye in this SE starting line-up. he has scored four goals in 11 games for taijin teda this season ....he has even scored more goals than ighalo in China all our strikers flopped in the confederation cup from musa to akpala...oduamadi was above average sha...so confederation cup is not an excuse and how do you know he has passed his peak. someone that was banging goals for olympiacos and is still banging for taijin teda has passed his peak? you are saying he plays in China?..even bassagog that you guys are damn scared of is also playing in China..The Mikel that will save us that day is also playing in China abeg say another thing |

AndreTAyodeji: This is actually my first time of commenting on this great thread and i really acknowledge all forumites.Keep up the good work y`all! However I watched the senegal game few hours ago and I think rohr needs to trust success on the right wing for the cameroon game.Boys direct running and power is already enough for their left back to get occupied and busy during the game. But what caught my attention most about success in the game is the way he was "skinning" Kalidou Koulibay(a chelsea target valued more than 50m pounds)lol welcome sir |

Humility017: I am very sure....you didn't watch the confederations cup the last time...because if you had watched....you won't start arguing for ideye or musa... those guys are far from being a striker... though ideye has a good build up play thank God you said it yourself that he has good buildup play and yes that is what we need against cameroun |

Icon4s: And when Kayode was brought in against SA were there any highlights about his game? Dude just became a passenger, nothing worthy of note.
This Iheanacho Vs Kayode debate has been exhaustive. Me no get the zeal for it again for now. I was talking about ideye |

He did not score but his build up play was awesome...you saw how emenike flopped @ the world cup because there was no ideye with him And don't forget the wonderful assist he gave emenike in the first game against Burkina faso Icon4s: Emm how many goals did Ideye score at that 2013 AFCON?
And did you say the Greek league? You've probably swept away the fact that he flopped big time at Westbrom before he was shipped to Greece. Did musa shine for Leicester? should I start mentioning players that flopped @ EPL?. shey that one mean say the player no good? Yes Greek league... @least they won euro 2004 What has England won with their world class league? |

TheSuperNerd: But Kayode is the team's 2nd choice no.9/Striker....... and also The MVP and top scorer of the Austrian Bundesliga... But most importantly, he is in form.
I think he should get the nod ahead of Brown but hey... you just gave me your preference. But I think Kayode is the one likely to start if Nacho is sent the bench or made to play as the 10 behind the striker. My brother Kayode or success will not start that match against cameroun Yes I am saying it with confidence You think rohr will just throw in success as a starter in that match |

Humility017: not every time he plays...we always score remember against Spain...he played and we never scored... please I will prefer kayode and nacho to start...nacho..as AM or SS... while Kayode or Success as CF... in the second half...iwobi and musa can be introduced... iwobi probably to replace nacho We scored against spain The match ended 3-1 I understand why you mentioned kayode but success |
