In the ward, I was given drip and much later DH went down to the lab to pay for the blood , soon a donor was contacted and blood was ready for transfusion. One of the nurses that is part of the Antenatal class came to my ward and was like “why am I here again in the most soothing but painful voice “ she was like have you not been taking your Pregnancy drugs?? I told her I have . She listed somethings I could take to build my PCV and told me to get mosquito net that it’s not good for a pregnant woman to be down with malaria. When she left, I found myself crying and kept feeling like I had failed in being a good mother to my baby, like I couldn’t even eat the right things just because I hated them. I promised myself to start eating right.
DH informed my MIL and she was so angry and stated that we would have called her before the transfusion, that she doesn’t buy the blood transfusion idea. She told DH list of food I should be consuming from that moment and so DH went out to buy some food . The next day, I was given another pant of blood making it two pants of blood . DH went to the market bought enough Vegetables and cow liver , went home prepared soup with it and brought it to me. I ate and I started feeling better . I started including vegetables in any food I ate with fruits in between. On the 3rd day I was discharged and asked to run another PCV test, result came out and my PCV had gone from 22% to 27% after 2 pants of blood transfusion.
I went back home and promised to make sure I eat well so my PCV will increase more before my Antenatal 2 weeks later cos the money we spent, was over a hundred thousand Naira for just those two times I spent in the hospital in December. I started taking squeezes vegetable juice and malt, eating liver , fish and vegetable soup. I cooked everything literally with vegetable including beans. When I went back to the hospital 2 weeks after, my PCV was at 31% and I know it has gone beyond that cos I have been eating right. Ever since I got back from the hospital, my baby has been kicking well, always turning and full of energy . Honestly, my second trimester was not funny but I have a great feeling that my third trimester which I just entered will be so smooth.

MY ADVICE TO FT MUMS
1. Endeavor to eat right cos you could be eating thrice a day yet your body isn’t getting any nutrients. Focus on food rich in Iron, protein and e.g vegetables, egg, fish, liver cos these will help in building your PCV and supply a good amount of oxygen to your baby in the womb.

2 . Study your body and watch for signs of weakness, loss of breathe , swollen foots and hands, discharge from your private parts . Go to the hospital and just see a Doctor cos prevention is better than cure. For the low BP I had, the Doctor stayed that its normal at a particular stage of pregnancy and that it will go back to normal before I put to birth or after so no cause for panic.

3. Try and have people around you as a pregnant FT mum cos you might need assistance of some sort or might be in a place of emergency .

4. Pregnant Husbands try and be of assistance to your wives cos there are times when your wife might not even be able to explain how uncomfortable they are cos it’s their FT and your help will go along way to sooth their pain and discomfort.

Honestly I thank God for my DH cos he has been the strength pushing me through. Constantly asking me what I want and getting it for me, tolerating my craze cos I do shout at times and get angry this period, comfort me when I cry for no reason and cook for us without complaining. He even reads about pregnancy and symptoms to expect at certain stages more than I do, he will screenshot and send to my WhatsApp and tell me to read . God will bless him for me.
I wish all mothers a safe, stress-free, smooth, soft and great delivery. May we continue to celebration more BS and for our TTC moms, May the blessings of conceiving and child-birth be yours in IJN
Thank you moderator for this thread, I have learnt a lot from it and I pray to share my BS with my bundle of Joy in April. Thanks for your audience.... I love you all

Goodafternoon mums and pregnant husbands

BACK TO MY STORY
cont...

When I slept and woke up , I had a mild headache and so I told DH. He fixed something and we ate thereafter I went back to sleep. On the 12th of December which was the next day happened to be Shiloh Impactation Service and since we had been connecting online from the beginning I told hubby that we should go to the church and fellowship with other people. We got ready and left home at 6 am.
In the church Bishop was already preaching and we were paying attention, soon Bishop Oyedepo started giving prophesies... Each time I stood up to grab the prophetic word grin there was a particular prophecy I embraced , Bishop said in quote “you will never be admitted in the hospital , the only time you will do is to put to birth” I said a big Amen. Later, they started singing and all of a sudden I felt some sort of weakness so I sat down. While I was sitting, o felt a tightening in my chest again so I started turning on the chair, I couldn’t breathe! I held on to my husband and he kept on telling me that I would be fine. After a while I got better and we decided to go home cos I felt I wanted to sleep.
On getting home I went straight to bed, it wasn’t up to 30minutes I started having a serious headache, I didn’t even notice my temperature was very high ,it was DH that came and touched me then he screamed. He told me to get up so we go to the hospital and I told him I will be fine, I was just prophesying to my self and speaking that I am fine and that there is no room for sickness in my body. This was around after 12pm. DH came to check on me much later and he confirmed that my temperature had dropped, he told me to keep my mantle on my stomach and I obeyed and then slept off again.
I woke up around past 3 pm and my temperature was crazily high, I jumped up from the bed cos I had a feeling that something wasn’t right , I went and looked for DH only to find him in the toilet. I told him that we have to go to the hospital. He complained of how he begged me initially for us to go and right now I would make him miss his Liverpool match slated for 5pm. He got out and went to the dressing room and I joined him to wear something to the hospital.
We got to the hospital and the nurse got my card and brought out my file, next thing was to check my vitals ( BP, weight, heart beat rate and temperature) . I noticed the worry on the nurse’ face then I asked her if all was ok and she replied that my heart beat rate was very fast and my blood pressure was low,I was in my 21 or 22weeks then. She took my file to see the doctor and DH and I were invited into the consultation room. The doctor opened my file and was like “Are you pregnant “? I said yes, He looked at the vitals report and was like “madam ,Do you have have a heart problem “? ....DH and I looked at each other in shock and I replied “No”, he told me to state how I was feeling and while I was stating the symptoms I was having he continued checking my file and was like “madam, I will have to admit you and you will be given blood transfusion. I started binding and casting, I told him it’s not my portion grin. He said ok, he told me to go to the lab and stated the test I should conduct.
We were waiting for the test results while DH and I were gisting, my husband was like why would that doctor ask if you have a heart problem, is he highhuh We just laughed and I still declared that Papa already said no hospital until delivery date. The doctor soon walked past us from his office and went to the pharmacy, we started hearing loud voices . He came out of the pharmacy in anger and started shouting that he won’t take that rubbish , he entered his office picked his bag and stormed out of the hospital. DH and I were like “maybe God made him leave so we could meet another doctor that will prescribe drugs and tell me to go home”....lol
Soon the test result was out and we paid 8500 for the test. We took the result and we met another doctor that came in after the other doctor stormed out in anger. She went through the test results and was like “ Madam, these results are not good. I have to admit you and you will receive blood transfusion, I was like whyhuh She said your record shows you were here few weeks ago for malaria and now you have same with typhoid plus my PCV was 22% . She said the tightening I was feeling in my chest was because of insufficient oxygen as a result of low PCV . DH said I should be admitted immediately and then few minutes later I was taken to the ward.

its funny that even those smelly Indians do same here in Canada. They are reluctant to sit beside blacks on the bus. But I understand that their own is due to inferiority complex...
Indians with their body smell and weird look. Honestly I do see them as fetish beings.

Hmmm, I really don’t know where to start from cos this pregnancy journey is one that is filled with up and downs but it’s always worth it☺️.
This is my Pregnancy Journey story , I just want to share this so other mums can learn from my experience and take precautions but have it in mind that I am doing fine and so is baby .

IN THE BEGINNING
I woke up one morning in August and I went straight to use my toilet. After urinating, I examined my urine like I always do sometimes when I wake up in the morning . On this particular day I noticed my urine was cloudy and had a strong smell like some sort of chemical and it really made my stomach turn. I flushed and then later had my bathe and proceed to work. At work I started noticing I was always feeling weak and dizzy and I was craving for a lot of things like crab soup etc It continued like that till some other day when I was standing and I almost collapsed. It then dawned on me that I had not seen my period for August and I had been having cravings. I quickly dashed to a pharmacy after work and got test strips, I got home and couldn’t wait so I quickly did the urine test and the two pink lines showed. I was dumbfounded and quickly called my husband to inform him. He told me to re-do the test and I did it the next morning , the result was still positive. My husband wasn’t still convinced so he told me to go for a blood test the next day, I did and the result was positive.
My husband got travelled down and we went for a scan in a private lab, the joy in my heart knew no bound cos I saw a movement in my stomach and the doctor confirmed that the baby was growing fine and healthy, he got the heart beat of the baby and stated it was quite rare to detect foetus heartbeat at 6weeks... we were too overjoyed.

The next morning I woke up with some weird feelings and metallic taste in my mouth, it was like all the pregnancy symptoms wanted to spring forth at once. I started feeling nauseous but I didn’t throw up and my cravings sky rocketed with some food aversions on the side. I was craving for crabs and when it got it, I rejected it and it stayed in the refrigerator for almost 2 months without me touching it. I also used to throw up when I take “Milo” tea before pregnancy but I started taking it comfortably without feeling discomfort.

The Doctor at the private Lab recommended “Pregnacare” since I was yet to start Antenatal and I took it religiously till I registered for Antenatal care in a very good hospital which he also recommended when my bump was 2 months and 2 weeks. The process was going smoothly until 28th November when I bought pap (ogi) and Akara that Saturday morning for breakfast. I hurriedly used water from my kitchen tap and mixed the ogi. After breakfast I started scratching my body few hours later and then my eyelid , feet and palm began to swell, I started seeing things like bumps coming out of my skin and my temperature rose so badly. I knew this was an allergy so I quickly called my husband. We went to the hospital which I registered for Antenatal and the Doctor stated it was an allergy and I was given drugs and cream to apply to my body. I woke up the next day feeling better. Three days later I started feeling very weak and had so much waist pain, my appetite started declining and I started crying a lot. My DH started helping out with chores like cooking, sweeping, going to the market and even taking care of me. I started having tiny headaches from time to time and I felt it was normal.
On the 1st of December, I woke up with a very terrible headache in the midnight, my head was really pounding and my temperature had skyrocketed, my DH touched me and screamed. I started crying, I felt helpless cos I didn’t know what to do. My head felt like it was banging continuously, I begged DH to give me paracetamol but he wasn’t sure if it was safe. I cried more and he went online to check , I took the paracetamol anyways and went back to sleep. The next day the headache reduced but the temperature was still there and so DH suggested we go to the hospital and I told him I was fine. Towards 12pm the headache started again and the temperature went higher ,so we left for the hospital .
On reaching the hospital where I registered for Antenatal the Doctor did a scan and said that the baby’s movement was very slow and that the high temperature was responsible, he stated that he can’t let me go home and I have to be admitted. DH told them to start treatment immediately.
While I was admitted, a lab technician came to take my blood sample, she took my palm and was trying to puncture for blood but kept telling me that I was pale. She managed to get blood but told me that I should feed well that my PCV was kinda low cos of how pale I was.The result got out and it stated that I had Malaria and Typhoid with low PCV 29%. They administered drips and injections, I was even given pain relief as Intravenous injections and not tablets. After two nights I got better and requested to be discharged. The bill was 42k....I was shocked at the cost and I vowed never to allow mosquitoes bite me...lol . I went back home feeling stronger and so I resumed my chores. DH Warner me about sitting outside against mosquitoe bites . We started fleeting the house every night and I felt better. Meanwhile, I was still sewing from my house cos I am Tailor . I pull my machine outside to the Varenda and sew till evening, say 7 o’clock

On the 11th of December, I went to a popular big market and while I was buying materials for sewing, I started feeling dizzy and so I found a store to sit and rest for a while. I started feeling a sort of tightening in my chest, I felt I wasn’t breathing in enough oxygen. I tried to call my husband and I realized that I had no airtime on my phone, I left my second phone at home which I use for transactions. I tried to walk out of the market and board a vehicle while I was praying for DH to call me. Eventually he called as soon as I entered a vehicle and I explained everything, he told me to charter a vehicle that will bring me home straight. When I got home, he told me to rest and complained of how I have been over working myself. So I went to sleep.

To be continued tomorrow
