Dolly Children Foundation (DCF) is an organization with the mission of inspiring the African child to adopt 21st-century skills through education, capacity building, and advocacy programmes

They do this by providing a conducive environment for learning, empowering educators, empowering less privileged children.

Their main interventions are targeted towards eliminating child illiteracy in rural communities, reducing child labour, and abuse as well as absenteeism in public schools.

They endeavour to assist the Government to make quality education available and help dropouts and street children take advantage of this opportunity.

Can one expect stipends or allowances?

For some organizations they may provide that. They may also give you certificate or recommendation. For the stipends and allowances. It usually works for big organization like the United nations for example. For other smaller organizations they may go the other way,considering that they need more hands and can't really afford to get a standard staff. Either ways it is all dependent on the organization.

Now for you who wants to volunteer, it is not really advisable to have that has a focus in your volunteer journey. Volunteering as a lot of benefits that many people fail to realize that even money can't afford. So you should have to know your "why" to determine your "what".

I talked about all these in my online class on telegram recently, thankfully you can read old messages on there even if you join the group newly. You can check my signature and you can join the group and catch up from there.

Over the past two years, I have involved myself in volunteer work with nonprofit and Non-Governmental organizations. It hasn’t been an easy task, it takes a lot of dedication, resilience and passion.

Due to the nature of the kind of society we are, it is hard for anyone to imagine working on their own free will without any monetary compensation.

People have asked me, “why do you work so hard for an organization that won't even pay you (payment in this context refers to money).”

Initially, this got me upset and over time I understood that it wasn't really their fault. Most people have not fully grasped the idea of volunteering especially in Nigeria.

Anyways, I have gained a lot of networks, friends, improved my skills this short period and I will keep volunteering till my last breathe.

I noticed that there are no particular threads on nairaland that focuses on Volunteering opportunities. So I will be posting opportunities here for people to sign up to.

Also if you have volunteering opportunities you can also post here.

Please while posting ensure to have the following.
