Hello guys pls ur contribution will be highly appreciated ,I have a sister who want to visit her husband who just left for Canada a month ago ,what kind of visa can she apply for and can the husband who is just amasters student send invitation to the wife and note pls he was still single when he got the visa ,it was after he got his canada study permit visa he got married to my sister.what kind of visa can she apply for to go visit her husband?
Your sister should apply for a spousal open work permit- SOWP. There is an SOWP thread on Nairaland, you can visit the thread for info. Also check CIC for details on the application/eligibility requirements It does not matter that they married after her husband's visa application, you can show proof of that with the marriage certificate and also note that in your explanation letter if you wish to attach one to your application.

Visit the CIC link below:

Regarding the age reduction option you will be considered a minor, here is a link with some information on education for minors

Good evening house, have been following this thread for some time now, and i can say this platform is the best. Thanks to all the gurus that has made this platform so educative.
My story is quite dicey but i need your help.
I would be applying for a canada visitor's visa by May this year. I plan on getting over there and continue my education from grade 11, so i can get used to their educational system and enroll in college later.
Please my questions are
1. As a 19 year old with family members in canada who are ready to sponsor my trip and shelter me in canada, what should my statement of account look like?.
2. Do i need to show ownership of properties etc?
3. And what are the chances of getting a travel visa if i step down my age to 17 years to facilitate my entry into high school over there.
Thanks
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by jpepper: 8:45pm On Jan 09, 2019
You cannot attend school on a visitor visa, unless you will be studying for less than 6 months... you need a study permit; to get a study permit you need an admission letter from your high school.. You might want to visit the Canada CIC website, plus google search info. There is a Canada study thread on Nairaland as well but the focus is on post secondary education so not sure it will be helpful, you can try asking your questions there as well.

There are guidelines for sponsoring a relative(note that this is different from just paying your expenses, it is kind of like adoption). Maybe there is a way your relatives can sponsor you to school there without a study permit, I am not sure what the conditions/rules are ? Check details on the CIC website

It depends....

Niceyenuf:
Hi beautiful people,
A little bit of a success story and some questions as well.
I applied for my mum to visit me in Canada on October 12, 2018 (I applied for a 3 month visit). Biometrics done October 24. Original Passport request: December 7. Visa about 5 days after.
I must admit I was initially bothered because she was not asked to do a medical test and thought she would be given less than 6 months but she got almost 2 years (to passport expiry).
Online app:
Documents submitted:
Pension statement
For me was just a letter from my employer showing I was employed and my yearly pay.
Letter of invitation.
Letter of sponsorship
Plus all online documents required.

My questions:
Is it advisable for her to stay more than 6 months? Saw something about not staying more than six months at a time even they give you a number of years.
If she can stay more than 6 months, must she book a return ticket? Will a one way ticket create issues at the point of entry.

Thanks for your help guys. smiley

I applied for a visitor visa for my parents, they got 3 years based on the expiry on their passports, they PROBABLY could have been given more if they had a longer duration on their passports...you can get multiple years with TRV

OmoBendel24:
Congratulations....

Return ticket is almost mandatory for a smooth POE experience on her way into Canada. TRV doesn't permit more than 6 months stay, it's got to be less than. Or is it a SUPERVISA for parents you did for her?

Congrats

Is this their first attempt? Did they apply online or via paper route and how long did their application stayed before they got approved? What is their travel history
Yes it was their first attempt, online route. Submitted their application on June 18, they did their Biometrics on July 3rd. My dad is well travelled, my mum does not have a strong travel history just pilgrimage(hajj) and she once went to France with my dad. I was worried about her application cos she does not work so no bank statement but it turned out okay.

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by jpepper: 6:44pm On Jun 21, 2018
You do not have to share the same surname for you to be her sister, I believe there is a section in the form where they ask if you have a sibling/relative in Canada, you should select yes and provide her name. Then provide your birth certificate and hers to show you are from the same parents, you can also show her change of name document(or an equivalent of that). I think that is enough proof that she is indeed your sister. Good Luck

Gooday! Nairalanders,

I have a sister In Canada that is married and working. She has a residence visa and she want me to come to Canada. Unfortunately for me I don't bear the same surname with her.

Please what method can we use to apply?

I just complete my degree education waiting for NYSC call up letter.

Thank you so much
manlikegb:
@jpepper, while you wait for elders in the house to provide a well detailed guide to your requests, let me give a try my own little way. I know for sure that both your parents' applications can be treated together regardless the route(paper or online). The trick lies in the answers you provide when answering the questionnaire. When your dad(primary applicant) is answering the questionnaire, it will get to a point where he'll be asked if he wants to submit an application for a family member, he has to pick 'YES' here. Then he should just follow thru till he'll be asked again if he wants to submit an application for another family member, then he will say NO, and then continue till the end. When done, a checklist will be generated for both him and your mom.

I don't think it should be a problem that she's a Home-Maker. While I have never personally used such, I know it flies for USA application(if applying with hubby) so I believe it should work with Canada too. Your dad will just have to make sure his own Proof of Funds, Home ties et al satisfies the visa officer.

In my opinion, given that your parents will be handling the most part of their application themselves, I'll suggest you consider the paper route so they won't have to deal with the stress of having to scan and fit documents to usual 4MB.

As for your bank statement, sounds like a good idea if its included but I just don't know how to bring it in now especially because you're not the one inviting your dad who is the primary applicant. I'm thinking he can mention you in his "Introduction you" and perhaps provide your details that way. I don't know for sure, let the elders chip in.

No of years issued for the visa is totally up to them. I have been issued 1year TRV before, and I have later been issued till passport expires. The VO's use their discretion and I believe thats down to how convinced they are by the applicant's profile.

As of right now, if you want to go paper route(in Lagos), you will need to go to VFS office, then they will give you a date to come back for submission.

Hope this helps. All the best to your folks.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by jpepper: 9:57pm On Jun 20, 2018
Thank you

ladylco:
Go ahead and apply online for them. The application will have same profile as long as you create a single profile for them, only that your dad will be recognised as the principal applicant. If feel online is their best bet as long as all relevant docs are submitted. I did same for my parents and they got their visas and their
applications were treated on a single profiles.
Your being a PR holder will even be an added ad vantage for them especially ur mom, just that their application muSt be document tight then vola the visas are theirs.

All the best

Hi Everyone,

My parents are planning to come to Canada on a visitor visa in August and I am not sure how to go about the Visa application to up their chances of approval. My dad is a lecturer, he is coming for a conference(5 days) and has been to conferences in different parts of the world, he has the invitation letter, hotel accommodation which is part of the conference package, I don't think he should have any issues.

However, My mum does not work and they want to apply together so that she can maybe ride on his application to get an approval for hers since her work history/travel history is not all that; she has travelled with him for one of his conferences, has been to hajj so a little bit of travel history.

I discovered that if I apply online their applications will be treated separately as per separate profile has to be created for each person and all that, unlike PR application; it may not work out well for my mum. I feel paper might be better since both of their applications will be packaged in the same envelope so perhaps they can treat them together, I know each person will probably be assessed individually but my dad has a letter of confirmation from his place of work stating that he will be travelling with her, coming back to his job etc so hopefully that counts for something.

She will not be coming with him, we just want to use the opportunity to get her a visa, Hubby and I are PRs in Canada. Need her to be able to come over when I have my baby so planning ahead cos we think applying for her alone at a later time may not work out well.

Any advise on the paper versus online approach based on the peculiarities of the application? Do I need to provide my bank statement for my mum?How many years visa so they typically give people for such short visits? Say we go the paper way do we need an appointment to submit at VFS or can they just go their with the docs?

Apologies for the long post

Notice of interest from a province to apply for the PNP
You can get an NOI irrespective of the stream u are applying for however u must meet the express entry requirement first
I see, I will look into that option then, thanks!!

Yeah, that's d answer.
Did u get a NOI yet?
No, I don't even know what NOI is, it that like PNP? I have less than 1 year experience here so I don't know if that makes me ineligible for NOI. Was really just going to work for one year and apply under CEC but i decided to try a faster route as the rules might change plus I have work experience from Naija anyway. I have a dependant which is why my point is low as I lost points for having a dependant. I didn't get my spouse to do a WES or an English exam because when I used their CRS tool to calculate my points before applying it was pretty high, I had points for the job offer so I didn't see the need for the trouble on my spouse's part. Looks like I have to revisit that option now

Hello Everyone

I have an issue with my CRS score and was wondering if anyone here could guide me as to what I did wrong. After I completed my EE profile, I noticed that I had no points for arranged employment/valid job offer. I do have a job here and I selected yes for that question while completing my profile, the job is also included in my work history as I am currently working in Canada(came here on a study permit so I have a PGWP). I am not sure why I am not getting any points for my job here, I understand that my Canadian work experience score will be 0 because I have not been working for up to one year but for valid job offer I should get the points. I don't know if it has to do with my response to the LMIA questions which was negative in all cases because I didn't need an LMIA for my work permit or job offer. Any clues as to what could be wrong. As of now my point is 409 which is quite low, I am missing 50 points from the Valid job offer
I guess i found the answer

It's general since d introduction of dis extra mark for siblings/yesterday. Very epileptic! I was able to log in successfully today after several attempts but couldn't achieve anything. They've even introduced a kind of questionnaire under work hence making dat section automatically incomplete until d questionnaire is filled. It's advisable for those in d pool to check and ensure that their filled forms are complete. I tried filling it today but wasn't successful. Guess they are still working on the website.

Retry later!
Thanks!

Wow Medical request for an October online application? I wonder what they are doing with the other applications that were submitted earlier in the year. What is wrong with these people? This is just upsetting, it is not fair at all

If they are not interested in issuing work permit to Nigerians anymore let them make the decision so people can move on with their lives.#AngryRant

Hi Jpepper,
I have bad and good news.
The Bad- No response sad
It seems these officers are concentrating on something else. I sent them an email referencing another medical my wife did in January for express entry. I sent Ghana cic an email says it was full and can't accept any more messages huh. Sent emails to cic lagos & by specific case but still no response undecided.

The Good - Another door opens shocked
Fortunately for my wife and I, we were approved PR visa last Friday - I couldn't be any happier. She wouldn't be needing SOWP anymore and they can reply whenever they want grin.

I just hope they process WP applications faster in weeks to come, life is hard already for young couples.
Awwww congrats!

Hello house I just got my 1st program study permit extended to November 2017 because of my Co -op program. I intend running my 2nd program by septemeber 2017. Please should my husband apply for a Spouse visa or Visting Visa to Canada because we intend applying next month?
Also be informed that for SOWP(not sure about visitor visa), they expect your visa to be valid for at least six months for your husband to be granted a visa(the house can please correct me if I am wrong). Paper method seems to be faster for now so i guess you are better off applying via that route as by my calculation you will have 8 months left before your visa expires if you apply by April. Also bear in mind that even via paper route you cannot be sure of when they will actually review your spouse's application. Just fyi....Good luck with your application

By d way, reapplying isn't an option. Funny you, why will i get d work permit and not use it... God will do it soonest. Thanks for ur response.
I understand your concern, you can update if you wish; but I believe CIC has the updated information on your husband's status, they have his records and will not rely on the information you have provided without verifying from their records. I am pretty sure they will see that your husband's permit has been extended
