Citec International: One-Stop Shop for Housing Development in Nigeria

In Nigeria, many people are living in sordid conditions. Homes are very expensive. For those who cannot afford expensive homes, they have to settle for far less—homes without the amenities that all humans should enjoy and take for granted. Worse still, some fear for the issue of building collapse.

How would you feel when you deal with experts you know will solve your problems from the beginning to the end? Citec International Estates Limited is one such firm, which has gone from building homes in Nigeria to manufacturing raw materials for building state-of-the-art homes for Nigerians at reasonable cost. It is a one-stop-shop for all things construction of homes and their management.

Using EPS Technology to Solve Problems
Sitting on 5-hectares, Citec is well positioned to turn things around in the built industry. Since 2001, the company has concentrated on building homes. But it doesn’t stop there. Clients can get further components and elements that they need for satisfaction.

“The factory is made up of various sections. There is the wire-mesh production section, the polystyrene process, the expansion process, the crystallization process and others such as the recycling process so as to make sure nothing is wasted. There is also the cement associated section of the factory. This can give us any grade of concrete we want and a host of others,” MD/CEO, Citec International Estates Limited, Oludare Bello said as he intimated BER team about the innovations going on in Citec.

The Polystyrene foam is a thermoplastic material obtained by polymerisation of styrene. As a material, EPS is formed by union of so many beads of polystyrene produced during a modelling process with supply of heat as water steam until the required process is achieved.
Polystyrene is part of EPS regarded as a new technology in Nigeria, but not so in the developed world. It is a popular technology in places like UK, China, Italy and has been used consistently for the last 40 years.

According to Bello, “Citec ensures the doors, windows, kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, burglary proof materials are manufactured by the company to ensure that these products are churned out in a more mechanical way than pedestrian.

“We break down the house to elementals, not just to build and deliver the homes. From the foundation, installing of doors and windows, to provision of drainages, we ensure that we provide elements needed, not relying on third-party contractors to provide these.

Autos / Which Cars Were As Popular As The Actors? by judchuks20(m): 6:53pm On Sep 08, 2018
Which Cars were as Popular as the Actors?

The Aston Martin DB5 – Movie: Goldfinger

Do you remember James Bond? His legacy brought about the possibility for making cars popular. The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 007 was used in the Goldfinger and Thunderball movies. That car was a work of art which made possible many special effects in the films.

This car is perhaps the most beloved car of all time. For the car, there were cool tricks such as ram bumper, machine guns, ejector, seat, smoke screen, oil-slick sprayer and more. There was also a map screen in the James Bond car and this foreshadowed our modern-day navigation systems.
Accordingly, one of these antique original James Bond car sold for $4.6 million in 2017.

Politics / Nigeria: Who Will Be President In 2019 by judchuks20(m): 8:44pm On Aug 24, 2018
How did the APC government take the complaint before they merged with R-APC?
I’ve told you, for us to get to this particular stage, it means that the APC has shut its doors to discussions, to negotiations, and to constructive bargaining. So in order for you to continue having platforms to speak to these issues those who share in your aspirations will naturally co-habit. We are very powerful. In a matter of days you will see how powerful we are. We have governors, we have House of Representative members, we have senators, and we have ministers that are part and parcel of us. In a matter of days you will begin to see that.
Doesn’t that amount to disloyalty if we have seven governors who are still lurking in the shadows?
You see, they are serving Nigerian people. They are not serving the Nigerian president. The media helps us to alter the narrative. We should remove the narrative of ‘boss’ from our narrative or from our body politics because people tend to arrogate all the powers, the whims and caprices of the nation in the hands of one man and think that he can decide.

I give you a typical example. The president for example endorses a particular candidate. Among all the aspirants that contested for elections under APC, which of them do you see campaigning round the country, getting himself acquainted with the party? None, because it is a matter of unity least. You blame a party we ousted from office of power on unity least. You are doing your own unity least. What makes you different? So immorality confronts immorality. How do you explain that?
Tell us about the geo-political zones that have governors that are with the R-APC. I’m not asking you to tell me state by state.
The Reformed APC has members from the six geo-political zones, front members. They are people from different constituencies, different senatorial districts, and governors drawn from all the zones. Whether you like it or not, in a matter of time you will be seeing how the game unfolds.

We have seen the future of ride-hailing services, and it includes Renault’s EZ-GO, an autonomous robo-taxi that can be summoned via an app or a special station. Once it arrives, the vehicle opens its front-facing door, lowers its active suspension and deploys a lighted boarding ramp. Four-wheel-steering offers maximum maneuverability, while Level 4 autonomous technology driving enables the vehicle to make split second reactions on the road, thanks in part to its many LiDAR, ultrasound and cameras.

Crime / No Rest Until Last Kidnapped Girl Returns – Buhari Features & Reports by judchuks20(m): 11:12pm On Mar 14, 2018
DAPCHI, Nigeria, March 14 (Reuters) – Nigeria’s president told the parents of 110 abducted schoolgirls on Wednesday he had ordered all military and security agencies to search for them, in his first visit to their home town since suspected Islamist militants took them a month ago.

Muhammadu Buhari – who made security a cornerstone of his 2015 election win and could face voters again next year – promised a rennewed offensive against Boko Haram militants and defended his government’s record on limiting their territory.

“I’ve directed the army, air force, police, DSS and the rest of the security agencies to find the girls wherever they are,” he said at the start of tour of security hotspots across Nigeria.

Security has become a politically charged issue with less than a year until the next election, scheduled for February 2019. Buhari has not said if he will seek a second term.

The attack on the town of Dapchi in Yobe state on Feb. 19 was the biggest mass abduction since Boko Haram took more than 270 schoolgirls from the town of Chibok in 2014.

Earlier in the day, Buhari told people in Yobe’s state capital, Damaturu, that the government would not rest until the last girl kidnapped by insurgents has been released.

Boko Haram, which has killed tens of thousands of people since 2009 in its bid to create an Islamic state, lost most of its territory in the face of an offensive by Nigeria’s army backed by troops from neighbouring countries in early 2015.

But factions of the group have continued to carry out suicide bomb attacks and gun raids in the northeast, Cameroon, Niger and Chad.

Buhari told the audience Boko Haram had controlled large parts of the northeast before the crackdown. “But now, they only resort to bombing, killing, brainwashing young girls for bombing in mosques, churches, markets and motor parks.”

That marked a shift from past statements when he had said Boko Haram had been totally defeated.

The 75-year-old former military ruler promised a new push in the offensive. “Federal government will use all its power to direct the Nigerian Army, air force and all security agencies to see to the end of insurgency and bring peace to the country,” he said.

Nigeria has also seen clashes between herders and farmers in other areas in recent months and is trying to maintain a fragile peace in the Niger Delta where militant attacks on oil facilities helped to push Africa’s biggest economy into a recession in 2016.

The abduction of girls from Chibok caused international outrage and criticism of then president Goodluck Jonathan for his handling of the attack, contributing to his election defeat.

Business / Indonesia Wants More Crude Oil From Nigeria by judchuks20(m): 12:16pm On Mar 12, 2018
Indonesia has expressed the desire to buy more crude oil from Nigeria, a request having been made by the Head of Economic Affairs of the Indonesian Embassy, Mr. Dwiyatna Widinugraha, who led a delegation from the country on a courtesy call on the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Baru Maikanti, Wednesday at the NNPC Towers, Abuja.

Speaking on the purpose of their visit, Mr. Widinugraha commended NNPC for its support in crude oil supply which has helped Indonesia to achieve energy sufficiency, adding that the country needed further assistance in the form of increased crude oil allocation.

He stated that Indonesia with a population of more than 250 million people needed about 1.6 million barrels of crude oil daily to meet its burgeoning energy needs as an emerging economy and would love to have a Government-to-Government arrangement with Nigeria in that regard.

Shedding more light on their mission, Vice President of Pertamina, the Indonesian National Oil Company, Mr. Anizar Burlian, said they were in Abuja to thank Nigeria for helping them meet their local oil demand and to further explore better arrangements of buying the country’s very high grade crude oil.

Crime / O.J Simpsons Confesses To Murder: Case Closed by judchuks20(m): 4:19am On Mar 12, 2018

After 24 years any mystery surrounding the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman is over … because O.J. Simpson confessed.

Fox aired “O.J. Simpson: The Lost Confession?” Sunday night and Simpson walked author Judith Regan through what happened on June 12, 1994. He starts out adamant — he was just talking hypothetically, which is weird, because if he didn’t do it what’s his basis for creating the hypothetical.

Simpson starts by talking about his “friend Charlie” … whom he says for some reason went to Nicole’s to snoop around. He says Charlie came over to Simpson’s home, told him what was going on and Simpson responded, “Whatever is going on it’s gotta stop!” Unfortunately, Regan didn’t ask Simpson what Charlie said was going on.

http://medianet.info/2018/03/12/o-j-simpsons-confesses-to-murder-case-closed/

Simpson says, hypothetically, he and Charlie drove to Nicole’s with a cap, gloves and a knife under the seat and parked in the alley. Simpson says he walked around the property and Ron Goldman appeared, saying he was at the restaurant where Nicole dined and was returning the sunglasses her mom left behind.

Simpson says he got angry at Ron — presumably thinking he was there on a date with Nicole — and started screaming at him. Nicole came out, things got heated, she told O.J. to get the f*** off her property, and then he says Nicole fell and hurt herself. In fact, he swung the knife at her and hit her in the face with the blunt end.

Now the confession … Simpson loses the hypo and starts talking very clearly — undeniably — in first person, saying Ron got in a karate stance, O.J. responded, “You think you can kick my ass?” and then he says, “I remember I grabbed the knife.” O.J. eventually checks himself when he realizes he’s talking in first person and actually starts laughing … seriously. Check out the video for the rest.

By the way … he also acknowledges dropping a glove on the property, which totally blows up the theory cops planted a glove.

Case closed.

Crime / AI Warn Regarding Hate Speech by judchuks20(m): 7:43am On Feb 26, 2018
The world is reaping the terrifying consequences of hate-filled rhetoric that threatens to normalize massive discrimination against marginalized groups, Amnesty International warned today as it launched its annual assessment of human rights.

Last year our world was immersed in crises, with prominent leaders offering us a nightmarish vision of a society blinded by hatred and fear. This emboldened those who promote bigotry, but it inspired far more people to campaign for a more hopeful future.
Salil Shetty, Secretary General of Amnesty International

Nevertheless, the organization found that a growing movement of both first-time and seasoned activists campaigning for social justice provides real hope of reversing the slide towards oppression.

The report, The State of the World’s Human Rights, covers 159 countries and delivers the most comprehensive analysis of the state of human rights in the world today.

The transparently hateful move by the US government in January to ban entry to people from several Muslim-majority countries set the scene for a year in which leaders took the politics of hate to its most dangerous conclusion,“The transparently hateful move by the US government in January to ban entry to people from several Muslim-majority countries set the scene for a year in which leaders took the politics of hate to its most dangerous conclusion,” said Salil Shetty, Secretary General of Amnesty International.

Politics / Utomi Thinks Nigerians Should Clap For Buhari – Daily Post by judchuks20(m): 9:25pm On Feb 24, 2018
A frontline political economist and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Pat Utomi has said Nigerians should be grateful to the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, noting that it will take time to address sixteen years of Peoples Democratic Party’s rot.

He said it was the PDP that left the country in ruin.

He said this while responding to a question on why Nigerians are yet to feel the impact of change promised by the APC government, adding that socio-economic change is a gradual phenomenon and it is not automatic.

“If you remember where we are coming from, you will give Buhari government acclamation and commendation.

“The country was under a highly corrupt and incompetent system; our resources squandered by a few political office holders in the worst form of impunity and recklessness ever seen in Africa’s most populous nation.

“Yes there are challenges of governance under the present administration, but Buhari has shown commitment and sincerity to effect a resounding change in social, economic and political development of Nigeria.

“He remains a man of integrity, self-discipline and modesty with a high sense of moral rectitude. These are the cardinal attributes of a good leader.

“We are enthused that he is the President of Nigeria at this time. He is on a rescue mission. He does not pay lip service to patriotism. While calling on well-meaning Nigerians to continue to support Mr President on his mission to re-order the country, he enjoined Nigerians to also pray for Buhari to succeed.

“Buhari is passionate about the progress and survival of Nigeria. Every reasonable Nigerian should support him. He deserves all good will because he is not a corrupt and irresponsible leader.”

Food / What To Do If Your Teeth Hurt From Eating Meat by judchuks20(m): 9:47pm On Feb 23, 2018
It’s good that you brush and floss, and it might be good to do these again after eating the meat. Chewing tough meat fibers can work bits of meat into the spaces between your teeth.

Sore gums suggest that your brushing and flossing need to gently clean along the gum line and at the base of your teeth. Also brush the gums, to massage them and stimulate blood flow.

If your work and social life permit, you can help accustom the tissues to this work by chewing a wad of chewing gum well beyond the point where it loses flavor and softness. This can build up your jaw muscles (which will make your dentist think you’re grinding your teeth), and it will toughen the gums and tooth sockets. “Self-limiting” pain from this chewing should keep you from doing damage.

If the soreness persists longer, see your dentist.

Music/Radio / 10-year-old Beyonce Performs With Her Group In 1992 by judchuks20(m): 9:46pm On Feb 22, 2018
Twenty-six years ago, Beyoncé was the lead singer of a burgeoning musical group. It just isn’t the one you think. Before Destiny’s Child, there was Girl’s Tyme, a musical act that mixed hip-hop and R&B and included Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett.

Ted Owen and Co — an auction house — is selling what they claim is Beyoncé’s first professional recording as the lead singer of the group. The teaser for the video is peak-’90s, which means there is a fair amount of neon-colored overalls and choreographed dancing.

Crime / Yobe Boko Attack: 50 Girls Still Missing by judchuks20(m): 5:48am On Feb 22, 2018
About 50 young women remained missing Wednesday after Boko Haram extremists attacked a village in northern Nigeria that is home to a boarding school for girls, provoking fears that they may have met the same fate as those kidnapped from the town of Chibok nearly four years ago.

Abdullahi Bego, a spokesman for the governor in Yobe state, said that authorities had no credible information that those missing from the village of Dapchi were taken by Boko Haram. Some witnesses, however, recalled seeing young girls being taken by the armed militants who also abducted 276 girls from the school in Chibok in April 2014.

“I share the anguish of all the parents and guardians of the girls that remain unaccounted for,” Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari tweeted Wednesday evening. “I would like to assure them that we are doing all in our power to ensure the safe return of all the girls.”

Armed Boko Haram fighters invaded Dapchi on Monday evening, forcing residents, including students of Government Girls Secondary school, to flee into the bushes.

Police and the state ministry of education had initially denied claims that students were abducted.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Bego said that more than 50 of the 926 students were still missing. Earlier reports indicated that about 90 were not in class Tuesday, suggesting that some had returned within the past 24 hours.

Aishatu Abdullahi, a student at the school, was among those who escaped on foot and spent the night hiding in an abandoned house.

“They were shooting guns and everyone was confused. Then we started running all confused,” she told reporters, speaking in the Hausa language. “We saw some people pushing some of the students to enter their vehicles.”

“Many of us are traumatized,” she said, adding that the school had given students a one-week break after the ordeal. “But, in all honesty, I am not willing to come back here because we are scared of what could happen to us in the future.”

About 100 of the 276 girls abducted by Boko Haram from Chibok in 2014 are still believed to be with their captors. Some escaped, while others were released as part of negotiations.

Politics / Nigerian Military Rescue Abducted Yobe School Girls In Bush by judchuks20(m): 5:10am On Feb 22, 2018
Many Yobe State schoolgirls that went missing after Boko Haram insurgents stormed their school Monday night were rescued by the military.

Some were also rescued by the military, according to residents and state government officials.

They were said to have been rescued around Jilli and Muwarti villages on the border with Borno State.

Daily Trust learnt last night that those rescued by the troops were taken to Gaidam town for medical check up from where they would be transported to Damaturu, the state capital.

Residents of Gaidam celebrated the rescue and commended the troops.

The Director-General, Press Affairs to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, Abdullahi Bego, who issued a statement last night, said more of the girls had been rescued by the military.

“The rescued girls are now in the custody of the Nigerian Army,” he said, adding “We would provide more details about their number and condition in due course.

He said the governor was pleased with the gallantry and hard work of the Nigerian Army involved in the operation adding that he was monitoring the situation closely and would make a statement in due course.

Bego in an earlier statement yesterday said during the attack, the students were helped by their teachers to escape through the night to the surrounding bush and villages as the terrorists stormed the town last Monday.

“Out of the 926 students in the school, over 50 are still unaccounted for as of the time of this statement. However, the Yobe State Government has continued to receive information about some of the girls being found in the general area to which they escaped,” he said.

Villagers to the rescue

A source in the school said some of the students who returned were rescued by villagers in bushes around Dapchi town.

“You know, some of the children trekked 15 to 20 kilometres in the bush to save their lives. We also received calls from Fulani settlements that they are bringing more students they found in the bush,” he said.

He said there was no record of dead among the students so far. “Only one of them had snake bite and she was treated locally and would be taken to the Specialist Hospital in Damaturu for more treatment,” he said.

‘Number of missing down to 46’

The number of missing students following the attack at the Government Girls Technical Collage Dapchi in Yobe state has dropped from 94 to 46, the state Commissioner of Education, Mohammed Lamin, said this in a telephone interview.

“This has brought down the number of missing students from 94 after the Tuesday’s head count to 48. We are still hopeful that more would be found soon,” he said.

The commissioner spoke before the news of the rescue of the some of schoolgirls by troops.

No case of abduction established – Police

The Police Commissioner in Yobe State, Abdumaliki Sunmonu, said yesterday that 111 students of the school were earlier missing after the night attack by the suspected members of Boko Haram on Monday.

He spoke to newsmen in Damaturu yesterday after a meeting with Governor Gaidam.

He revealed that as at Tuesday night, they had a head count and 815 students were present in the school.

He said: “815 students were physically seen in the school out of 926. We left in the night yesterday; they started trooping in one and two. Right now, I am waiting for the school authority to give me how many has been added to the figure we had yesterday.

“From us (Police), no case of abduction has been established, and from the military, they had not told me any because it is a joined operation led by the military,” he said.

How Boko Haram whisked away some of the girls

Credible sources in Dapchi, the town where the abduction took place, said the Boko Haram terrorists had actually whisked away some of the girls.

An uncle to one of the missing girls said they had established that some of the girls were loaded into a Tata truck by Boko Haram fighters who disguised as soldiers.

He said his niece simply identified as Maryam was yet to be found and called on authorities to dispatch rescue experts to help bring back the girls.

“The whole area where the girls fled to is porous, I fear some of them might die because of thirst in the desert,” he said.

A source at the Damaturu Specialists Hospital said few of the girls found in the wilderness had been taken to the hospital.

“Six of the distressed girls are being treated at the Specialists Hospital; three nurses from the Dapchi General Hospital who also sustained injuries while fleeing from the pandemonium are also being treated. This is besides five men who were also taken to the facility,” he said.

A source in Dapchi said the incident at the girls’ school was “saddening, traumatic and unfortunate. While the insurgents invaded the school firing gun shots, with some targeting where the foodstuffs were kept, others dressed in military uniforms parked their Tata trucks outside the perimeter fence of the school.

“They pretended to be soldiers and beaconed on some of the fleeing girls. They ended up going with them through the vast desert that leads to parts of Geidam and Yunusari local government areas,” he said.

Another source in Gaidam said the terrorists mobilized from locations around River Yobe that runs through Yunusari Local Government Area that shares borders with Niger Republic and northern fringes of Borno State.

Business / How A Scent Machine Can Increase Grocery Store Sales by judchuks20(m): 4:34pm On Feb 15, 2018
Scent marketing is the newest way to attract customers to businesses with a physical location. It can help to keep customers coming into the store instead of buying groceries online. A study published in the International Journal of Aromatherapy by Hirsh in 1995 indicated that by spreading the smell of fresh baked bread throughout the bakery section, sales of bread rose almost fifty percent.

The concept has been used in some grocery stores for decades. Citrus in the fruit section, coffee in the dry goods aisle, and grilled steak at the meat counter invoke fond memories and encourage people to purchase more items. This is not accomplished by luck or sale pricing. This works because of science.

The Sense of Smell

Smell is processed by a different part of the brain that the other four senses. It is absorbed and delivered to the brain by the limbic system. This is the same system that produces memories, emotions, and perceptions in the brain. Smells, therefore, are closely associated to feelings and memories. Creating a warm and comforting atmosphere through scents will increase grocery store sales.

Diffusing Scents in Businesses

Spraying aerosol cans throughout the store is not healthy, practical, or cost-effective. Customers will become annoyed and leave quickly. A scent machine of the right size can introduce scents subtly. Machines that utilize patented technology can release the scent of essential or aroma oils into the air through the ventilation system.

All-Natural

Oils for machines are offered in a wide selection of all-natural scents. There are no artificial ingredients and no harmful chemicals. Choices include holiday scents, floral ones, spicy, luxurious, fruity, earthy, and many others. There will be no residue left on surfaces, shelving, or product packaging.

Affordable

Whether the business is a small one, or a large one with more resources, the right machine and refill scents are affordable. Owners can decide to purchase the machine from the company and order refills when needed. Bundles of oils can be ordered to save money, or they can be purchased separately.

Owners with limited resources can still afford this type of marketing through an all-inclusive monthly plan. The subscription includes a machine the right size for the space and new scents each month. This is also a great way to try all available scents to decide which ones have the highest effect on sales.
