Ekiti govt suspends 1,000 civil servants over roles in presidential election •They’re party agents -Govt

Thursday, 21 April 2011

NO fewer than 1,000 civil servants in the employ of the Ekiti State government have allegedly been suspended for their various roles during the presidential election, held last Saturday.

A group in the state, Ekiti Positive Forum (EPF), had alleged in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday, that the civil servants were “being victimised for voting for President Goodluck Jonathan in the election.”

The group, in a statement signed by its chairman, Chief David Oke and secretary, Evangelist Gbenga Adekunle, alleged that “no fewer than 1,000 civil servants across the state have been issued with suspension letter in the last two days,” saying that “it is worrisome that a government that was installed through the instrument of the rule of law is now victimising workers, because they were suspected to have voted for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

But, while reacting to the allegation, the state Commissioner for Information, Communication, Civic Orientation and Strategy, Mrs Fola Richie-Adewusi, said the workers who were sanctioned by the state government were those that served as political party agents during the election.

Mrs Richie-Adewusi said the suspended workers flouted an order of the state government that no public servant must play politics overtly, adding that the number of the affected workers was not readily available.

According to the commissioner, the disciplinary action affected all culprits in the civil service, irrespective of their political affiliation, adding that it was meant to serve as deterrent to others.

The group charged traditional rulers and other well-meaning citizens of the state to prevail on the state government “to desist from victimising public servants, who were only carrying out their civic responsibilities as prescribed by the laws of the country.”

A statement by the spokesman to the president, Ima Niboro, said that the suspension comes "as a result of a number of lapses in the political leadership of the ministry traceable to his personal and official conduct. For now, his continued manning of the ministry is not in the interest of the nation."
The man was accused of anti party activities. Right.

But removing the minister for non performance for what happened was OK.

The minister supposed to have planned and coordinated the activities of all the security agencies well.

President Jonathan has to start from somewhere.

This is new dawn

Most respondents except some few doesn't understand my point, they think it is because Buhari lost the election.

Runner ups doesn't lose an election, but just doesn't get the required number of votes to win an election, you can't compare the number of supporters of Buhari with that of Goodluck in the North, and that of Goodluck with Buhari in the South. Someday, it will be a southerner that will become the runner-up, and then he will take up the right position of the Prime Minister. Even in sports, the runner-up take the silver while the winner take the Gold, so better understand that runner-up is not equal to a loser.

Prime Ministerial Positions will serve as an avenue to provide peace of mind and a sense of belonging between the North and the South, all sides will feel they are rightly positioned to govern the nation. No side will feel disfigured
. If this will continue then very soon the country will be divided, I bet it won't be peaceful, because the North must get rid of all non-Muslims in the region, while the East must get rid of all Muslims in the region, it will lead to massacre, bloodshed, and only God knows when it will end.

As simple as A,B,C
We need to move towards the direction that everybody feels as Nigerians.

By the way the intention of our leaders across the nation to support President Jonathan was to avoid unnecessary friction in the country. Let have our mind on that way.

Excellent talk from our leader.

They should behave well to make things work.

Thank God that there is calm already.

Protest without violence should be enough.

The other side of the country is already tired of many many times irresponsible violence.

The elections so far are free and fair enough.

Hope the next election would be better and INEC will perform wonderfully.

Our votes are needed in the next election. The turn out of electorate was not impressive in some areas during presidential election.

Voting right governor and house members is really important.

ACN is the answer, development and progress.

have u all thought for a moment that the woman in question could be a bit mentally unstablehuh it takes a mind that suffers a degree of insanity to resort to such means just to have an audience or whatever else with the guy.
methinks she is not alright and in fact needs medical assessment to verify her sanity level.
." She also asked him if he remembered the first time they met, in 1998 at the home of his stepfather's mother.
He said he did not remember the occasion. Ibru said: "I remember that very well - the first time setting my eyes on you, not just in a newspaper."

Action Congress of Nigeria [ACN] candidate for the Governorship election Senator Ibikunle Amosun in his own reaction said “what I noticed since morning is that the turnout was not very impressive. Surprisingly after some few hours, we discovered that even those that are voting today are slightly even more. But I can assure you that come next Tuesday; we will see a more impressive turnout. But we have to congratulate INEC really and the law enforcement. So far so good, there is a slight improvement from that of last week.
We need to go out and encourage people to go out during next election.
Politics › Re: Iyabo Obasanjo Dumps Jonathan? by juman(m): 10:13am On Apr 17, 2011
I think she will stay in PDP, but they need to rebuild their party.
PDP performance SW is not acceptable. Even all over, except some governors like that of Rivers State and few others that they are performing.

The performance of ACN in NASS election shows that PDP need to look inward and make some serious corrections. They should not blame someone else for their problem. That will not be the solution.

PDP need to start and operate like movement-like party. Where their is a leader that they rally on. I mean in South west/yoruba area.  And they should be more sincere and deliver to their people. Certainly people will tends to them. And they will become formidable opposition.
