James 2:14 is following the context of the chapter, faith can't save you from temporal physical suffering but faith alone in Christ alone absolutely saves from eternal destruction
The more important question is, why did Jesus have to die a sinners death if your works could save you eternally.
Sowing and reaping will always exist and obeying or disobeying God has effect in this life saved or unsaved. But entering heaven is all based on what Jesus did for us. If you decide to obey and love God you will have rewards in this life and the next, but heaven is free by faith because Jesus paid for everything with his blood.
Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

First of, none of the writers of the new testament called someone a brother if they were not saved.

Hence this chapter is not a chapter talking about salvation, the people being addressed are already saved.

This chapter covers Christian service and how having faith alone which is enough for salvation is not enough for profitable works

I've always been a proponent of fight the battle you inherited, looking for greener pastures would leave you to fight other men's wars. But Nigeria! Haba....if you've been to teaching hospitals, your heart go bleed. God may overlook certain things to bless you on earth, but He will never overlook holiness when it comes to you entering heaven.

Again, God makes holiness achievable if you hunger and thirst after righteousness. But many people are not so positively desperate for righteousness and holiness.
