It doesn't need to say that, if a soul is experiencing fire and that much corruption, it can be said that soul is being destroyed.

The body destroyed here can finish burning, but the body in hell can keep being destroyed and still won't burn completely to ash. Since hell is eternal the body of death will burn continuously without finishing
