rvp20182: You're still a .cking communist nation with all the land owned by chiefs, princes and kings and with entire economy nearly informal. The private sector is very minor part of your country.
In low income countries such as Nigeria, Mali, Tanzania, Ghana and Rwanda, permanent/formal wage employment in the private sector represents less than 2% of total employment. Permanent/formal wage employment in the private sector is on the other hand largest in the three middle income countries in the sample, peaking at 46% of total employment in South Africa, 23% in Botswana and 18% in Egypt (Table 3)
something is wrong with your head
Chiefs are the rightful owners of land, held in custody for their communities. 40% of all lands, 30% are family lands.
This is not Kenya where your communist oligarch have taken all lands, leaving 99% of Kenyans extremely poor. With no land to even farm on.
The private sector in Ghana is the single largest employer and the largest contributor to Ghana's GDP.
Ghana is not a fvcked up country like Kenya where the private sector is minute and almost non existent. Here in Ghana, 94% of all companies are privately owned. 90% of all employment is created by the private sector.
In Kenya, the private sector only employs 67% of people. This is extremely small
A low income country like Kenya where per capita income is a meagre 1750 dollars
rvp20182: Tanzanian communist state failed in 1985 when country became broke..Nyerere apologized for the failed experiment and retired owning only his bicycle. Ethiopia went through many famines until Meles zenawi in 90s took power and adopted some capitalism.Ghana became broke in 1962 and went through many famines until they dumped their communism.Kenya continue to do well despite being largely arid because we refused to go communist way.Kenya is more food secure than Tanzania and is well known food exporter...not just to regional markets but worldwide..all from 11% of it arable land
rvp2018: Political economics - the realm that deals with political systems (democracy) and economic systems (capitalism). Ideally capitalism is closer to economics (market economics) hence very successfully in creating wealth- and communism is really politics (equality) - popular but a colossal failure economically -and socialism is an attempt to marry the two.
I wonder what you wanted to achieve here.
Anyway, since you made some of my points for me, I'll pass.
rvp2018: You've ran away with your ugly 1/8 town houses - and apartment - boy just shut up. Even South African will shut up in apartments when it come to Nairobi. Egypt Cairo yes.
another diversion
Say no to low standard living in Kenya and you might be able to build beautifully well-developed communities like Ghana has and your standard of living and quality of life will improve
rvp2018: East Legon has a Total area of 4.95 km². That is as small as kibera. Westland const - which is not inclusive of kilimani/kilelewshwa in that list is 97 SQKm. That is 20 times bigger.
East Legon Measure 32 square kilometres in size.
Next time dont depend on outdated wiki info.
There are simple map tools to use
Kilimani/kileleshwas,westland, muthiaga is 28 square kilometers in size.
gallivant: Can you stop abusing the world mansion to sound sophisticated it's annoying. Don't call a bungalow or a maisonette a mansion it reaks of a village mentality.
Combine Kilimani, kileleshwas, westland, parklands, muthiaga and Runda and you will have the size of East Legon.
rvp2018: Nairobi Middle class - mostly town houses and high class apartments - they are still in good side of Nairobi - these are KIlimanis, Kileleshwas, Westland, Parklands.
rvp2018: Apartments in Kenya have their standards - from upper middle class to lower middle class - to pipelines. Some apartments in Nairobi cost anything from 0.5M dollars.
And they are not temporary. People buy units there. It's people houses. Majority of course by landlords.
Yeah we know the standards
Its is extremely low, rusty and rotting away.
The only nices apartments in Nairobi are usually for short stay rentals, because 99% of kenyans cant afford it.
rvp2018: These are LOWER middle class estates. Not even proper middle class. These estates you find in Nairobi Eastlands.
In Nariobi - to help you - any house that sit on a 1/8 of an acre - that is lower middle class.
At least 1/4 acre you start becoming middle class.
But generally from 1/2 acre to 1 acres is upper middle class.
1 acre plus is now upper class - high end. This is why Karen is very highly ranked because units there on average sits on 5 acres of land - now reduced to maybe on average 2 acres. Previously it was NOT possible to subdivide Karen into unit less than 5acres - but majority sit even on 20 acres or more. The house in East Legon are SERVANT QUARTERS for staff in the rich house of Nairobi.
The more land the more facilities - but 1/8 of an acre - and you're saying the BEST you got
What can you squeeze in 1/8 of a plot.
Rants
Even the rich in Kenya live is miserable properties.
In Nairobi, those mess of a property in Runda with shity interior designs and stuffs sitting on acres of land are village properties in Ghana.
Giving one acre for one person to live on while the remaining 4 million people live on 28 acres of land is miserable.
Here, we sell lands to make sure that whether rich or poor, you can at least afford to own 1/8 or 1/4th an acre to build your own mansion and live comfortably.
Again, this is one of many reasons why Ghanaians have higher standards of living and Quality of Living than kenyans
Until kenya fix it housing crisis for Kenyans to afford owning homes, the quality of living of kenyans will remain low.
POKUASI2: ok, so when goods is loaded from a Bonded warehouse onto a truck with GSP tracker fixed on the truck. Can you tell me about that one too mr. I know it all that knows next to nothing
POKUASI2: I know as an average Ghanaian, English language has always been a challenge to you.. Oh sorry, I should have typed twi so you can understand the difference between live ( right now, and LIVED (time passed)
POKUASI2: I lived at spintex and pass by the seat of their govt everyday coming to Accra.. I pass airport city, 37 sankara, independence Avenue to Cantoment. There's nowhere in Accra that most of them here see on TV that I don't know physically
So you no more live at pokuasi, where you spend 5 hours in traffic? And you no more work at Accra CMB, you are now working with Orientals?
rvp20182: We import and export power to Uganda and Tanzania...soon Ethiopia. Planned maintenance are for selected areas.i have been Nairobi since mid December...I can say total hours for two months that power has disappeared is not even 5hours..kenya is nearly as good as Europe in power(power has never went out) and better in internet. The same with water...although some areas have issues..
