LNG-to-power projects have been booming from Asia to Latin America in recent years as they allow nations to switch from dirtier fossil fuels to keep the lights on. And for sellers, integrated LNG-to-power provides a guaranteed outlet for the fuel.

Tema LNG Terminal Co. received the floating regasification unit from Jiangnan, China on Wednesday, paving the way for the supply of 1.7 million tons of natural gas per year for power generation sometime this quarter, Edmund Agyeman-Duah, project manager at the company, said.

The company, backed by Helios Investment Partners and Africa Infrastructure Investment Managers, began building the $350 million project about two years ago.

“Ghana can now start to service the rest of the region with fuel that is continuously growing in popularity because of the cost and the significant environmental benefits it provides,” Agyeman-Duah said.

with demand for power growing at 300MW plus every year, we need more electricity.

The current growth in industrial activity will push that figure to 500MW plus yearly just after this year.

The reason why you import from Japan is all in costs.used Japanese cars are cheaper than new cars.The same way applies in SADC,someone prefer a used car from Japan due to lower costs than buying a new car made in SA although its much easier,and quicker to just pop in the showroom in Lusaka or Dar or Gaborone and get a car same day same time.

South African cars are sold everywhere in SADC since their showrooms are all over the place.

importing new Japanese cars from Japan is cheaper than importing Japanese cars from any African country where it is produce in.

Import a Mercedes benz from Germany and it will be cheaper than importing same Mercedes Benz from SA.

It's all because of the trade barriers we've placed in each others way.

It is far cheaper and easier to import a car from japan than to import one from Nigeria into Ghana.

It is easier to find vessels and agents to ship a product from japan to Ghana or any other country, than you will find in any other African country.
