Hey zombie from zombieland

That man is awesomely dressed for the moment in question.
A man proud to dress in his traditional attire.

while at it, you should get your president good wine so he doesn't end up drinking that crazy thing that makes his eyes all red like blood.

Also take him to the Dentist so he can get his teeth scaled cause at current, they look pretty nasty. grin grin grin grin

you are funny

who will want to compare his country to a shithole like Kenya that is below her in everything?

Kenya as usual has been whipped back and forth by every country you guys have tried to compare it to
Because your shithole is highly underdeveloped.

So deprived of glory, you guys sleeps and wake up here on nairaland in order to paint a picture of a prosperous country
But we all know the facts.

Your pig pen of a country will continue to remain a shithole until you guys grow brain cells to demand better from the group of thieves you elect to rule over you.

Keep wasting your time trying to compare yourselves with us
Your noise wont get you there but real action might.
Saddamochieng00:
We stop debating long time ago when we discovered Ghana is nothing but a dignified shithole. You are the ones stressing yourself day in day out trying to compare yourselves to Kenya.

Our energy is just too precious to be wasted on hobbits. Use your energy in developing your shitty Accra not to look like a chicken coop.

Only a madman can compare that village to this. cool
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Just30: 5:47pm On Jul 04, 2020
chicken coops are really better than those smelly Pig Pen you guys have in kenya.

Even Monrovia is better than your pig pen
That shows how shitty your country is.
rvp20182:
Yes Ghana cities are indeed like chicken coop.I mean look at our neighbors whom we like to deride...they are better than them.By time Tanzania is better than you..then you're truly crap

when the figures comes out, you will see
The economy did not boom but it did pretty well.

Hello blood drinker

You need to come to the reality that your economy will not recover till 2024.
Hey, you can pat yourself on the back with a cup of blood
rvp20182:
You cannot boast of covid 19 response and expect your economy to boom. You cannot have you cake and eat it too.Kenya is very resilient and you'll see it.Already exports are up 15% compared to last year...our agriculture is on unprecedented 5yrs of sufficient rainfall... anyway so far only tourism and many gov services are crawling...most of the other sector are strong. But rat eater this too much for your puny brain.Go get a bunny and feast on it so you can boast your economy

dream on boy

Your economy is already under recession
rvp20182:
Every African country grew in Q1.Kenya grew by 4.9, Nigeria 2%..but the contraction in Q2 will be shocking...most countries were in some lockdown with some sector regressing to near zero.Q3 is under way and doesn't look good either. This is akin to war situation. Some countries like Uganda,Ghana,Rwanda and South Africa went for total lockdown...so expect gigantic contraction like Libya or ivory coast when it was at war...-50% this quarter is possible in some sector. One month lockdown can take off -5% annual. This year will produce some shocking GDP figures last since maybe in great depression of 1930s..

Mauritius is now Africa's first High Income Economy
GNI is $12,740

South Africa GNI $6040

Nigeria GNI $2030

Ghana GNI $2220

Kenya GNI $1750

Kenya GNI has dropped after poor economic performance.

Lets wait for second-quarter economics figures

First quarter economic figures was strong at 4.9%
If second quarter figures come with a 3% growth despite the lockdown, then Ghana's economy might end up growing at 4-5% this year.

Justnotyou:
You're quick to respond. Am not trying to belittle Ghanas progress but one still has to be sincere, do you seriously believe you'll grow by that much with the year being halfway done already?

Sorry I don't think any country is growing this year. Can you find a more authoritative of IMF GDP PPP projection - say in the IMF April World economic outlook
Kenya GDP PPP was going to move from 191 billion dollars to 206 billion dollars this year but because of COVID, it wont happen

Ghana GDP PPP was going to move from 209 billion to 226 billion this year but because of COVID it might not get there.

Now shut up all of you and go back to your underdeveloped country

Man - your BASE LENDING RATE - is what 16% smiley - how is that even possible. Are you banks Charities? Now load bank profits and inflation - and you are talking 25-30% like i have seen.

Now with COVID it is 14.5% - that is what Ghana gov borrows at - basically risk free money to banks.

Kenya base lending rate is 7.5%.
Just so you know
SC Ghana is offering business loans as low as 10% to businesses.
Masloc interest rate for businesses is 8-12%
Ghana Exim Bank interest rate for businesses is 5-8%

and with those highs, we manage to build a highly successful economy

yes the Cedi is overvalued

Hence why it gradual debasement as the structure of our economy changes from import dependence to export-led.

A highly valued currency was good when we imported everything but not anymore.

jln115:
I'll have to look but what I know is the Cedi is very very overvalued
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Just30: 9:49am On Jul 03, 2020
The Cedi is more valuable than your kshs

It buys 2 times more things than your kshs buys.

that is how useless your kshs is.
Mkenya2019:
The present day currencies are paper money. It's fiat money. It's no longer backed by gold reserves. It has no intrinsic value.
So a country can wake up and decide to print the "strongest" currency in the world - say 1000 dollar to 1cedis.
You give them like a few years - and that currency will be 1 dollar to 1000 cedis - if they allow it to operate in free exchange.
They can even go ahead - and forever peg it to a dollar - but that would require defending the currency against inflationary forces using forex reserves.

The cedis outside Ghana is useless. Worthless. What works outside our borders are global currencies - USD (the king), Euro, British Pound, Swiss Franc, maybe Japanese Yens and now the Yuan.

So for you to import anything - you'll need to buy dollars or any other global currency accepted. For you to fly abroad for education or medical need - you'll need to convert to dollars. For you (gov, individuals, companies) to repay international loans - you buy dollars.

So naturally the cedis will weaken - unless you're China or Saudi or Japans - with trillion dollars of forex reserve - and you can make your currency strong internally by keeping it weak internationally. This makes their stuff very cheap to import - leading to more forex - feeding the loop.

For the rest of us - if you try to defend your currency with your little forex reserves - you won't last long.

Maybe you can survive with your own rules if you live in Central Africa - with very little in international trade and business.

Therefore what is important for economy is A STABLE CURRENCY - this is part of the predictable environment that foster economic growth and sustainable development.

A stable currency is a currency that doesn't swing so much. A currency that stores values. Nobody want to wake up tomorrow like a zimbwean to find they now need 10 times the currency to buy a loaf of bread.

So you need a stable currency that doesn't depreciate or appreciate so fast against global currencies. Otherwise it will lead to inflation - price increases - will drive away investors - will generally lead to poverty.

The weakest africa currencies the last 60-70yrs without doubt is anything named Zimbwabwe, anything named KWACHA and anything named CEDIS.

This kind of negative feedback loop that plagues the CEDIS is hard to get out of - because many Ghanians and foreigners don't trust the cedis - so the economy become dollarized - people prefer to open dollar accounts - or to convert their cedis as quickly as possible to dollars - and try to store value. This leads to dollar strengthening...more dollar demands...more forex reserves are depleted. This weaken the cedis more.

Getting out of that rat hole is very very difficult. You should see Zimbwabweans now. It about getting people to trust PAPER MONEY.

jln115:
You do realise its not all about the value to the dollar right? Its about what you can buy with the Cedi in your own country. In other words it about ppp
sure

The Cedi buys 2 times more things than the kshs.

According to PPP

Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Just30: 2:30pm On Jul 02, 2020
guy shut up

kenya revenue is 13.7 billion dollars as at 2019 which is 14% of your supposed GDP
rvp2018:
Let me try another method.

In 2015 - Kenya ordinary revenues were 1 trillion Kshs - 10 billion dollars - from 65B dollar economy

In 2019 - Kenya ordinary revenues were 1.6 trillion kshs - 16B dollars - from 95B dollar economy

You see bigger GDP is equal to more taxes and more money for the gov - more money for business.

Nigeria overcooked GDP I bet has seen less revenues in 2019 compared to 2015 -

Let's face it - your country is OIL and nothing much more - just a sea of poverty with informal businesses.

Which rural areas of kenya are highly undeveloped. Turkana smiley maybe. And other deserts. Otherwise rural kenya where I come from - nearly everyone has electricity 24-7 - we have paved roads - and those not paved - are well maintained murram roads. Our small-holder agricluture is a model for Africa.
all the rural areas in your entire Kenya including the rural areas of nairobi.

unpaved roads, no pipe water and etc.

only 60% of your people have electricity which is unstable and very costly because 1/3rd of your electricity is provided by Diesel generators (640MW).
hence most people cant pay for electricity and are cut off.

Even Karen which is supposed to be your most developed residential area roads are filled with potholes.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Just30: 2:10pm On Jul 02, 2020
the question is

do you know what development is ?

Because you rural areas are highly undeveloped and it is where 70% of your people reside.

grin

world Bank says 87% of your population are poor.

94% of your people live in rented mud buildings and shacks
rvp2018:
Kenya has always had a rural-focus to development - because we knew from word go - if we encourage urban-rural migration - with level of our economy - we would end up like Ghana or Nigeria. With huge slum polis breeding poverty, crime and all ills.

You cannot have 50% urbanization when you're as poor as Nigeria or Ghana. South Africa got there recently. China is just about there.

no rural area in Kenya is developing

hence why most rural areas dont have roads in Kenya.

rvp2018:
Kenya is developing it's rural areas. Big difference with Nigerian villages. Majority of kenya rural areas have as good amenities as urban areas. You'll find electricity in nearly all kenya villages, piped water, and name it.

I was watching Mambila tea estate - and market center is shocking - the poverty in rural Nigeria is shocking.

In kenya - small rural centers have street lights.
