If you guys are oil exporters then you shouldnt be celebrating. we are celebrating because we will safe a lot. our production levels are lower than what we import for processing. |

gallivant: Importation is driven by demand, not to kill local production. Your reasoning leaves a lot to be desired. importation is driven by the desire to out compete the price in a given market dont be stupid |

i dont have the time to waste Ghanaian twitter is too sweet than this. jln115: Bro I have a honours in accounting and I'm busy with my CFA... Believe me when I say this... I know more about economics than you.
Besides I wasn't debating what you are saying now at all.... . Infact some of what you are saying now is exactly what I said a Government must do to protect local producers.....here is my post from earlier :
Also Trump didn't suddenly ban imports from China.... He spent years creating policies to empower local producers before this whole trade war begun.
Where your mistake lies is thinking Nigeria is currently producing enough metals, machinery and textiles that exceeds demand when in reality it isn't because if it was then it wouldnt be importing as much of these products as it is now. Machinery, Textiles and Metals are Nigerias three single biggest imports........ That doesn't sound like a country that produces those things as well |

jln115: I like the optimisim dont just like it fight for this Gaining market share means you have to fight the economics war It is more difficult now than when South Korea did it. |

jln115: Actually you should of said jln115 has a point since the bolded is exactly what I said.
Just30 is claiming that Nigeria is still setting up industries costing an arm and leg to produce locally and on top of that importing cheaper products from China asell.
I said if it is cheaper to import then you won't produce locally... But if you decide to produce locally you will stop importing... Exactly like your rice example. Dont produce locally in SA to create jobs and see what those angry unemployed people will do to you and see if the market will still exist. |

I just told you Nigeria import ban list exist to prevent the flooding of their market with things they produce best It is always cheaper to import from China. It doesnt mean you shouldn't set up local production to create jobs. whiles you build fantasies on the theory that because it is cheaper to import from China, no one should produce for their local market. jln115: Actually you should of said jln115 has a point since the bolded is exactly what I said.
