look thru Ghanaian student performance. NSMQ. It is a annual program. Must of those who participated in it and won are constantly giving free scholarship to study abroad or the best Private uni in the country. A dinner or lunch with president for just winning the competition , this is how we strengthen academic excellence . We made them recognised their value. We even reward them heavily with lots of cash and their teachers as well.

The lady who won the 2021 competition last year was admitted to three ivy league university abroad ( Harvard , MIT and one that is off my head for now ) the lady later choose pre medic program at Harvard uni. This is a lady completely from a poor family .

This guy single handedly revolutionized manufacturing engineering, products design, automation, AI and material science in Ghana.
Today he has steered thousands of Ghanaian students unto to R & D projects globally
Mention any R & D project in the US that you know off and he has been part of it.
Today young kids are being taught manufacturing engineering and product design. Preparing them for Ashesi engineering school and Academic city engineering school.

So your KCPE essays are written as fill in the blanks ?

Isn't that shit a Kindergarten stuff?

We are not a Pisa member country and Dont take those.

Kenya scored less than 20 in the science and maths test for the African level.

That's why you couldn't go global.

You don't need gold to have a great educational system like Ghana. Ghanaians out in the global North and South running top level R&grin and innovating in all field of knowledge usage.

All this your useless argument won't safe you... Let your educational system speak for itself by results and not noise.

Honestly count yourself lucky you never schooled in Kenya during our time..there was absolutely no chance any school would allow you sit for exams..lower mean grade and get them murdered...they would murder you first..you will be beaten senseless..and have to repeat every classroom..you would finally at 20yrs quit primary school .I remember in std 7 I changed school and then found myself sitting next 20yr old...he was very good in football but had no hope of going to stay 8..the pass mark in std 7 was tough..you could repeat 3 times.Kenya we take education very seriously. That is why people murder teachers.Schools eventually registered poor kids in fake school B.Education in Kenya is serious business...nursery kids can find themselves before dawn in schools.
Why will I leave a better schooling system that exist in Ghana with good fun boarding system to come to your broken down system?

The Ghanaian system is so good such that most Ghanaians abroad prefer to bring their kids to Ghana government schools for their first and second education, so they can dominate in the US and Europe.

Just look at that. How can such a society produce normal children? From 4:30am to 9:30pm! And you wonder why boys are attacking female hostels. grin

The parents are derelict, busy riding motorcycles to be involved in children's education. I can only compare them to people in some parts of northern Nigeria. grin
Exactly

One time my results were poor in a few subjects, growing up and my father immediately went to my school to go and ask why and sat in class a few times to observe my teacher teaching.
He gave me a few whippings for some time and until he realized that I needed an extra teacher at home for those subjects.
Few months later my grades started improving because I was mostly ahead of the entire class and lessons at school, in those particular subjects became like revision for me.

Well teachers are not murderers.. The responsibility of making your child learn lies in the Bossom of parents.
Do they even take time to visit their kids school to find out how they're doing academically?

As we've seen here, Kenyan exams at high school should be written by primary kids

Can you imagine?

If you see their final year results, you'll feel sorry for them. Kenyan parents shirk their duties and expect the school to right everything that's wrong with their kids. The parents on their own parts don't know much as is displayed here by many of the kenyans.
exactly what I said above ...
You can't absorb yourself of the education of your child and put the responsibility solely on teachers and expect different results.

Your kids in Kenya are just not good enough. Stop looking for excuses. Lynching teachers or parading teachers shoulder high are not signs of a society that take education seriously. I've posted results from Kenya of the final year secondary school exams over a five year period here. It's simply egregious, my boy.

The problem is that your teachers are poorly trained and the kids are dullards who can't wait to get out of school to go and make some money riding motorcycles.
students having to go to school at 4.30am and close at 9.30pm just shows how poor Kenyan kids are at education such that despite the sacrifices of teachers by putting in extra hours still turn to yield terrible results.
This shows that parents are not involved in their kids education

It a cycle.
Parents pay - some at least half their income - to schools.
They expect school to perform - and do all it takes.
The school expect the kids to perform - and do all it takes.

Parents give teacher the pressure - the teachers give student pressure - and poor kids when they cant endure snaps.
Teachers cannot crack the head of students who don't want to learn or are mentally deficient and put books inside

You have an English comprehension problem.

The video clearly provides all the answers.

I clearly said the obsession with exams not wholesome education is responsible chiefly for schools' unrest and of course boarding system on its own need to be reduced. Kenya has world highest boarding school kids' ratio - and all these unrests are signs of a broken system.

All these issues have been studied in length and kanya is now on it's 10th year on the new system that has done away with "final" exam for continuous assessment.

The new education system also provides non-academic pathway early for kids who are gifted elsewhere in sports, crafts and leaving only the few who are interested in academic to proceed.

The verdict of new system will be known soon - maybe a decade - will kenya end up with happy fools like Ghana or South Africa - or smart happy kids like say in Finland.

That to me is biggest challenge...going forward...India/China academic focused versus Finland/Singapore versus South Africa/Ghana - kenya if not carefully could end up in South African/Ghana kind of situation as it shifts from India/China where kids are drilled to study like life depend on it.

Ghana situation is slightly better than Nigeria - but as clearly demonstrated in this thread - and in videos of kenyans - who have expressed frustration with holding basic of communication in English & logic - it's a failed system of education. Only those born and educated in diaspora are the shining light in a dark tunnel.

Ghana we know came bottom of the bottom of the bottom in PISA test - worse than South Africa.
So you watched the video and you're still typing something contrary to what was said?
Why do you like to act daft?

You're raising fools in school who come out to be hooligans because their parents failed at parenting them and their parents are also supporting such hooliganism by being hooligans themselves instead of finding out why their children are failing massively in exams during PTA meetings, despite the fact that teachers complete the syllabus.

Again you can't seem to address the issues raised in the video or the questions I asked you.

All this needless attempt to compare yourself to Ghana or SA or Nigeria education won't help you because students from these various countries are highly sort after globally

rvp2018:
None of that explain the root cause.

Google search "kenya parents lynch teacher for non-performance". TSC acts after parents lynch female teacher over poor results is the 1st results. Kenyans take education seriously - way too seriously - right from primary school - pressure on kids, teachers and school to excel is enormous .

The genesis of Kenya boarding schools that starts as early as lower primary was the obsession with passing exams as only way out of poverty.

This started in early 1990s as the SAP/Population/Sanctions dried up jobs - for the employed - and it became very tough to get a job. It wasnt until late 1990s that kenyan started to figure out immigration as options - which west africans have.

From 1990s - kenya schooling system became cutthroat competition like India and China.

Kids can barely sleep. It worse than prisons. In fact, most school disallow games and name it for final year students - kids barely sleep for 5yrs - and they snap.

Most kids are taken through that worse than prison school systems from grade 4 - and by high school - they hate schools - by university almost every kenyan kid hates education. University is only time kenya kids are finally free - and the last thing they want to do - is read another book - they now want drink and do all stuff they didnt do growing up.

Moi greatest legacy was his laser focus on education - having himself been a teacher - but I think kenya took it too much - now it's in dilemma to totally make education useless (no exams, no pressure, no boarding ) or continue with it's high quality education system that comes at very high cost.
None of this write up address the concerns raise in this video or the questions I asked.
The quality education we all know addresses issues of extracurricular activities so that, by the time the child leaves the school, they are roundedly educated and provided support systems.
You like writing baseless stuff too much.

The problem was never boarding schools

Kenyan parents were just terrible at parenting their kids.
The schools were poorly financed and PTA seem like astro physics which was completely removed from their circumstances.
What happened to guidance and counseling department?
What happened to student unions where students get to express themselves?
What happened to Entertainment and sports?

A school is not supposed to be a prison

See classic madness. When you can't pay for any reason you call your bank and negotiate. YOU HAVE NOT DEFAULTED.You can ask your bank to extend the repayment period because you're having issues paying.if they accept great if they refuse you pay.You only default if you disappear for three years then eventually reappear to unilaterally announce you won't pay and will pay when you want. YOU HAVE DEFAULTED. NO ONE WILL TRUST YOU AGAIN.Everytime you get into problems call you bank and try to negotiate...be honest..tell then business is bad due covid..see if they extend time or give you a moratoriumon interest..negotiate before shit hit the fan...but if you disappear..you default..then they start loading punitive charges .Ghana of it followed Kenya would have avoided default. You can see a storm coming and you continue swimming. IS THAT MADNESS OR INBORN STUPIDITY .Heck South Africa run to higher grounds of imf but here is Ghana running to gorge himself with Eurobond in middle of a storm.Eti afraid to get credit rating now..now look they are D minus. They might soon create F for epic failure if madness continues..3yrs to realise that economy was flattering is crazy

I like the way your argument shifts all the time to the abstract

Kenya is bankrupt.. FACT
Ghana is not .. this is also a FACT..

Kenya bankruptcy levels of 140% compulsory spending bill led it to default on 4 debt and counting.. Kenya has also pushed forward the payment of 10 debt instrument that were due to next year. Technically, you can call that a default as well.

Accept those facts as they are and you'll return to sanity if there is any left in your head.
