vaxx: You were talking as if they are coming based on the border closure which I am changing your narrative, that it wasn't so, unlever never left Nigeria for once, they only increase their production elsewhere in which they still maintain up till date, Nigeria poor electricity infrastructure is the reason behind that, Bata was kicked out of buisness by other competitive, it wasn't so much a big deal. the Nigeria border closure has never attract anything of significant apart from what is cooked in the custom service department .
If Nigeria had the border close till December, Nigeria growth will be frustrated and shrinked further ( It is already growing just above 1 . 94 percent since June and had experience a sudden jump in inflation) so hyper inflation at this minute is easily predicated. let's wait till last quater of the year and see what Nigeria buisness statistics will have to say.
Nigeria was able to close the border cus Nigeria crucial product (oil) had never been affected . master all this hyperinflation thing Nigerians have not heard it before oo they dont know what youre talking about they cant understand. Basically, recession is coming |

CaptainMeks: This is your foreign Aid for budget dependent Ghana. Know the truth about your country and not the lies your Government feeds you which you have been regurgitating here. You said the last Budgetary aid Ghana received was 10 years ago right? Well this below is for 2019. Your economy is a sham.
SEND Ghana in its preliminary assessment of the 2019 budget statement identified several cross-sector and sector-specific concerns. One of which was that, after over 60 years of independence, the Government of Ghana still heavily relied on development partners and the capital market for funding.
According to SEND Ghana in a release signed by George Osei-Bimpeh, its Country Director and copied to Newsghana.com.gh, while sector-specific exists, issues such as overdependence on donor and private funding, fragmentation and weak governance, short-changed goods and services, and poor targeting also cuts across assessed sectors.
It also said the projected budget for 2019 was too dependent on donor and private funding. Indicating that, in the health sector, government failed to allocate enough GoG funding to the Ministry of Health for capital expenditures in 2019.
“In fact, 73.9 percent of the allocation for capital expenditures is expected to come from development partners, with the Annual Budget Funding Amount and Internally Generated Funds providing the remaining 26.1 percent, whereas in the education sector, free primary and secondary education has increased the number of children in schools. However, this increase has led to overcrowding and exposed wide infrastructure gaps within the education system. Without predictable funding, we have observed that many education infrastructure projects are stalled and require critical financial support to progress past low levels of completion,” SEND revealed.

CaptainMeks: If indeed Nigerias education sector is the only one getting donor support for up to 20% then that is way better than Ghana whose capital expenditure as a whole is getting a whopping 73.9% Donor Aid in your budget hehehe Capital expenditure in Ghana in financed by 50% loan and 50% tax payers money and not donor funding. pick a budget statement of any year from 2009 and read . CaptainMeks: More for you about your beggarly Country Ghana
Elected at the end of 2016 on his third attempt, the 74-year-old leader of the centre-right New Patriotic Party (NPP) began: “It is not right for a country like Ghana, 60 years after independence, to still have its health and education budgets being financed on the basis of the generosity and charity of the European taxpayer. By now we should be able to finance our basic needs ourselves.”
A nation, he said, should chart its own development path and not allow priorities to be set by donors. Although Ghana receives less aid than many poorer countries, it is still supported by bilateral donations from the likes of the EU, France and Denmark. Other organisations are also involved, like the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the US aid agency, which is pumping $498m into Ghana’s electricity sector. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation supports agriculture and health programmes. One MCC is an investment being made in Ghana's lucrative power companies and not an aid.
MCC is taking part in the privatisation of some part of a distribution company. what you are posting is just a propaganda statement from a politician who had no idea what he was saying as an opposition leader just to gain power.
since 2009, Ghana had not had it education and health sector supported by aid all budget statement were fully funded by Ghanaian tax payers.
worry about your country The US will keep looting from you till you learn sense and start voting for reasonably educated people

Imagine from 2007 they redenominated the cedis. From about 0.92 cedi to one US dollar to about 5.4 cedis today (about 6 times devaluation)
Naira was about 120-125 to one US dollar to 360 today (about 3 times devaluation). so the Cedi used 13 years to devalue to its current value and it is a freely floating currency meaning it is better in the first place. whiles your naira that is controlled and pegged used 3 months to devalue to that horrible level Go learn sense |

Which statistics, the one Ofori Atta presented to Parliament that has Ghana development partners funding the budget up to 30 percent? Why is Akufo Addo championing Ghana beyond aid? Ghana will loose one billion dollars if they don't succumb to US demand. Olodo, read that UK court case again... SoNature: If Ghana does that, they will be risking too much because Nigerians practically run most of their foreign businesses.
In 2010, a Ghanaian official disclosed that 60% of foreign businesses in Ghana are owned by Nigerians.
Ghana is not like South Africa, where Nigerians go to hustle. Nigerians practically have a stake in Ghanaian economy. If those businesses pull out, their economy is in trouble.
Nigeria is an economic powerhouse both in subSaharan Africa and beyond. What does not exist in Nigeria is visionary leadership.

Tetehjewels: I repeat you are confused and so deeply ignorant. Health care here in Ghana is not free. You pay for medical insurance and still pay for treatment and drugs at a subsidized rate. Speak on the things you know and not from your place of ignorance. Health care is not guaranteed for every Ghanaian because they die daily like fish over easily treatable conditions. Even their so called health care workers are ignorant of basic drugs for treatment. Every saturday here is a burial day for Ghanaians and you need to witness how many go on every saturday.
Herbal medicine is king here and not proper medical care.
Young man when they still live in mud houses with pit latrines in the village then i can say they are poor. Even their young men live in such mud houses and refuse to farm due to laziness. Moving to the city does not make it easier because they end up mass renting a room and go to public bath houses to bath daily. Some of them even prefer living in the village and travel to accra to work from monday to friday and return to their village on weekends.
Nigerians do not live in the villages of Ghana. The conditions there are too appalling for a Nigerian to cope. I do not live in a village. If you check my posts i Live in the central region and i am sure that for even you CENTRAL does not mean suburbs. You can read up the rest about me in my previous posts here and then cure yourself of this foolishness in your head.
Nigeria owns that much number of poor due to our large population which is the largest in the black community in the world. If we as a population of 200m have 90m who are below poverty line then we are richer and better off than Ghana who with 28m still struggle with poverty to the extent their ladies are sleeping with men in exchange for fish. 110m Nigerians are not poor and live above the poverty line.
What you see happening in Abuja is what is happening in the ENTIRE Ghana just so you get my point. Abuja is just a location in Nigeria while Ghana is a country. It seems you don't know there is poverty in Ghana. You are so blind. keep deceiving yourself Nigerians that are picking scrap metals in Ghanaian villages just to make ends meet |

Area4Area: Very apt, their currency is so useless and continues to depreciate . Virtually everything is so expensive and not as if their disposable income is higher than that of Nigeria. Naira from 120 to 360(about 3times depreciation) to a dollar and cedis from 0.92 to 5.48(about 6times depreciation) to a dollar and they feel they are making progress better than Nigeria. Nigeria could decide to remove 2 zeros from the naira and an American dollar becomes 3 naira 60 kobo today. The South Korean won is over 1,200 to a dollar and the Japanese yen over 120, I guess Ghanaians in the house can explain how their economy is better than than those of Japan and South Korea you are comparing the freely floating cedi that took 15 years to depreciate to where it is now to a currency naira that depreciated in two months |

wirinet: False equivalence. Nigeria is very different from Ghana. Our borders are way longer than Ghana's and so more difficult to man, besides most of the smuggling don't happen at the borders, there are hundreds if not thousands of bush paths and water ways smugglers use to smuggle into the country.
We have tried those policies you mentioned to no avail. I remember during IBB's time, a ban was placed on locating fuel stations close to the border. Placing trackers on all petrol tankers sound ridiculous. Do you know how many petrol tankers are on our roads. Fuel tankers line the whole Oshodi express way from tin can ports to cele (a distance of more than 10km) queuing load fuel. Same on the other end from tin can to Carter bridge blocking the whole of Apapa. There are thousands of petrol tankers coming and leaving Apapa everyday. Fuel consumption in Ghana is not up to 10% of what we consume in Nigeria.
How much fertiliser is smuggled from Ghana, I am sure it cannot be more than a few tens or at worst hundreds of tons, you want to compare it to the Millions of litres of petrol smuggled from Nigeria daily? How much subsidy do the government pay for fertiliser? Can it be compared to the N3 trillion Jonathan paid during his time, or the nearly N500 billion budgeted for next year?
Nigerians smuggling textiles into Ghana? That's news to me. Where are they getting the textiles from, as our textile mills are not working. Are you insinuating they import the textiles through our ports and then smuggle it all the way to Ghana through Benin republic and Togo? yep that is exactly what they do import textiles from India and China and smuggle it to Ghana. Togo and Benin cant dont anything about it because the goods is a transit goods. All they do is put a tracker on the truck to make sure it exit their country. If you keep giving excuses for your problems, you will never solve anyone of them. Do you know how many trucks enter and exit it southern border? Yet they track every single one of them |
