rvp20182: Which company data that I am not aware of. Concentrate on stuff you know. Kenya total cargo is not 50m. It cannot be expected to carry this. In fact when the SGR was being built - the kenya cargo was 17-20M. They had project in 20yrs - it will rise to 35M - and SGR would carry about 20m - the rest left for tracks. We are there in less than a decade.
like I usually say, you don't know much until educated by foreigners on things happening in your own country.
So why did SGR only carry only 5 million tons last year?
rvp20182: Total cargo handled at mombasa port last two years been about 35M metric tonnes. This year it will be about 40M. SGR carries those mostly destined to Nairobi - now they do 5M. Once SGR is built all the way to Kampala and beyond - it will carry more.
which won't happen anytime soon because China has reviewed it belt and roads funding and by the time Uganda even get the sense to do it, losses would have buried your SGR.
The only solution will be to fund the entire construction towards the border and ban all foreign bound cargo from being carried by road
rvp20182: He is misinformed about many things - and usual - doing the chinese hating western propaganda - while they are neck deep in two trillion plus china debt.
They would prefer they borrow from China - and we borrow from them - the same chinese money,
so your own company data is lying and is propaganda, because that is what he used?
rvp20182: That is your nonsense. The railways is designed to carry 20m at full capacity. Not 50m. Total cargo is kenya is not even 50m. We have railway development levy with lots of money to pay for this and others.
This year total cargo will probably be >40M. 50m is another 2 or 3yrs to go.
Good luck telling the Wall Street Journal that they are lying. It miraculously went up from almost 5 million last year to 40 million?
You can really be ridiculous, what do you get from lying ?
rvp20182: It nearly making operational profit. This year they made 15B kshs with expenses at 18B - operational loss of 3B - a year or so ago - the loss was 10B kshs. They will operationally break even in 2yrs. They might eventually pay for the loan. This long term project and railways make "profit" by saving roads, reducing accidents, faster logistics, improving tourisms, zero congestion in ports.
Nobody has gone to a road and says this road is making profit or not - unless its a toll road. These are public good projects. Tax payers will happily foot the bill because of it's multiplier effect.
Everyone already knows that the tax payer will have to shoulder the burden. The problem is, it is not carrying even 10% of the load needed for it to break even.... The yearly loss will bury it unless you court Uganda to complete the other section and start lifting it goods through rail.
rvp20182: Smart because you have gold (money) and you can hopefully buy in CEDIS. You will be exchange money(gold) with paper.
It's called smart move
The fear of upsetting Washington has kept so many countries from doing this sensible thing... Not anymore
Another important fact is, 48% of all gold mined here is done by Ghanaian owned small scaled mines whom the central bank has just created a market for by just this single act.
What a waste, this shit show will never make profit. It will keep piling on debt until it become scrap metal.
It needs to carry 55 million tons of cargo to make a profit and it's only doing 4 to 5 million tons and this will decrease further, since Ruto has removed the ban on cargo by road.
Shma2022: Don't speak about escape when you're a man with a kitten. A transgender - not sure. A WUSS, yes! Remain in that cocoon until we start dealing with your debt-ridden weeny zoo. Don't always pop up in the middle of serious topic to fix that dwarf nation.
Diversionary tantrums of a slave
Hungry dwarf
Your zoo has no place here yet you keep forcing an argument
rvp20182: Why cant you not call the aircraft manufacturer to fix their thing? Why would you call Nigeria! You depend on daddy for tissue paper manufacturing to MRO for something they dont manufacture?
Who do you think operates and certified various MROs if not the manufacturers of the various airlines.
Stick to things your limited mind understands.
You can check up on how air worthy certificates are issued
rvp20182: I'd love to hear more about the aircraft maintenance. You call Oga to come fix your aircraft? and bring along the spares? Is this Nigerian Airways crew biting dust coming to fix Ghana Airways that is rusted to the ground? How does it work!
rvp20182: Yeap they import spacecraft, military tanks and warships from Nigeria. In reality they import manufactured goods like Indomie,Nestle, Dangote and I bet even water.
I like how desperate you are
We rent jack up rig, PSV and etc from Nigeria yearly, which will be considered a yearly import since Nigeria has been in the business for long
rvp20182: THE MOST SHOCKING STATS OF THE DAY. Maybe Nigeria GDP is indeed real. I didnt realize West Africa was such a backwater.
In Africa, Nigeria is the main source of Ghana’s imports. Ghana’s imports are dominated by manufactured goods, which account for 65% of the country’s total imports. The import of manufactured goods has been growing faster than the country’s total imports. The study also found that Ghana’s imports demand is sensitive to changes in a number of factors, such as trade openness, economic growth, and the exchange rate.
These are the things Ghana import from Nigeria Natural gas- 200 million dollars yearly and an extra 100 million dollars in services like from Aircraft maintenance in Nigeria. That's Ghana total import from Nigeria. 300 million dollars
That is less than 3% of our total import.
Next time, get your info from legitimate source This is what stats look like
rvp20182: We import maize mostly from Tanzania - its taken to millers - and turned into maize floor. That is raw materials. I dont know if there is any made in Tanzania product in kenya supermarkets. Maybe one - I think I have seen one shady energy drink sold on the streets.
rvp20182: We are not Ghana that import finished goods. We import petroleum, cooking oil, cars, medicine and machinery. What we can easily displace is cooking oil - of about 1 billion dollars - and maybe we can start to refine our crude oil eventually - and produce more medicine.
As if you don't import finished goods.
Add all of that and you'll still need to add more to reach 20 billion dollars
Shma2022: Kenya revenue from agricultural products alone is $5B. If you add iron ,steel, machinery, clothing accessories etc... You'll hit more or less $8B to $10B.
Don't l*ck @ss.
South Africa only receives $ 5.1B from car exports.
Their biggest source of Export revenue is gold; $13B. Then platinum, diamond , coal, etc... MINERALS! MINERALS! BOERS! MINERALS! ... etc
Kenya total mechanized products sum up at 6.3 billion or so. The rest is service export which is 4 point something billion, that's how you get to 11. There's nothing like machinery, iron and steel.. those are just imaginary
