My fellow Naija people. Please train up your kids (in the way of the Lord/Law).

Years ago this lady's case generated a massive argument here, many Nigerians in this thread supported this terrorist.

I'm glad that the govt won again.

I guess there is some mix up in my presentation.
What I actually meant was:

1. I will never pay by bank transfer untill and unless I have met the person. Inspected the good(s), and I am satisfied.

2. I will never pay via PayPal or bank transfer to an account supplied via Facebook.

3. I can pay cash if I meet the seller at the town centre, or the retail park. And I test the goods. And I am happy with the items.

I agree with your number one point but disagree with the rest.

2. It doesn't matter whether the account details were given to you in facebook or in church, if your bank accepts the bank details then no prob.

3. Its a bad idea to make cash payment to an item you bought from facebook, if anything goes wrong with that deal you have no cover or evidence. If you are unlucky and someone sold stollen item to you and police get involved you are in a big mess. retail park or town centre is not shop or business address. Collect from an address so as to have a cover.

I actually like Ebay. You just need to buy from a reliable and well known seller with good reviews. Never buy from an individual seller.

If there's a dispute, eBay would deal with it for you. I buy my laptops from Ebay

Why?

Wait Justwise… pay by bank transfer, to someone you just ‘met’ on Facebook marketplace?
That is a No.No for me

For me, Facebook marketplace is a community market. I only buy from sellers who are near enough for me to meet at the town centre or the pub or under the fourth lion on Trafalgar Square.

Yes i will pay by bank transfer rather than cash or Paypal.

What are you afraid of by paying by bank transfer?

My only issue with CeX is their exploitative tendencies.
CeX will buy an iPhone for £100 from a customer, and sell same for £250.
I would still prefer Facebook marketplace (with eyes wide open and only pay after I have collected and tested the item, never ever ever bank transfer). Or eBay.

I disagree, pay by bank transfer for record keeping in case things goes wrong with the deal.

Cash payment is a bad idea

Hi people,

Please where is the best place to buy an iPhone (new or refurbished ) here in the UK. Someone mentioned back market a couple of days ago, not too sure. Which is better to buy? A friend in Nigeria is asking to know whether it is better to buy here in UK and ship down or buy in Nigeria.

Thank you.

Ebay or facebook marketplace

Thank you so much @justwise
Please permit me to ask you another question?
A friend said you can extend your visitors visa on medical ground like complicated pregnancy?
If the doctor are able to issue a "not fit to fly", is this true?

My question is if you are on visitors visa in Uk with your children, and you apply for extention on medical grounds, will your children also qualify for the extention?

Thanks once again.
Please no vex, we need clarity on the UK immigration palava.

Yes that is true but expensive because you have to pay for the medical bill and you have to provide the payment receipt in your next visa application, yes your kids will be included if they are under aged as they will not be able to travel back to Nigeria alone.

@justwise please help
If the wife come with visitors visa, she will use the opportunity to search for jobs and return home to apply if she gets the job

Or

Stay in Uk on visitors visa and extend it until the husband finishes school and start working

Note: The main applicant will start paying the loan 6 months after graduation. The loan only applies to UK masters and not MRes or PHD.
Thanks

I suggest you take the first option, avoid the second option by all means, she can not renew her visiting visa in the UK and overstaying that visa will be a serious mistake.

Ireland is wealthy on paper.

Wonder why these countries have really high GDP, but poor standard of living.

I never thought there were homelessness in Europe until I visited the UK and Ireland and saw young and old people sleeping on the street.

Are you sure you have ever visited any country in Europe apart from the UK and Ireland?

Hello Guys.

Please Kindly help with some valuable advice and insights.
My uncle, who resides in the UK, has generously offered to support me in relocating there through the study route. He suggested pursuing a Master's degree program.
However, as I have no prior experience with this process, I'm eager to learn more about what it entails. I'd be incredibly grateful if anyone who has successfully relocated to the UK using a Master's degree program could share their knowledge and experiences.

Specifically, I'm keen to understand the costs involved, What is the typical range of costs associated with tuition, living expenses, and the visa application process?

Additionally, please let me know if there are any other crucial aspects I should be aware of that could impact my decision or the success of my application.

Was this how Zimbabweans felt it in those days in 2008?

You log in to transfer 20£ to your aburo. It’s 40,000 naira.

Between the time it takes your phone to refresh, the same £20 has now become 46,500 naira.

That is an ‘increase’ of 6,500 in a few minutes…

E be like say Tinubu & Cardoso dey carry us go where we no know.

Yes and i hope we are not heading that way, we exprienced this in Zimbabwea. it was cheaper to use the Zim dollar as tissue rather than buying one with the money because you will need a bucket loads of it.

Price changes as you shop, we have to travel to SA for shopping as there is nothing in the shops in Zim.

I used the word "Tautology" for want of a better word to convey the import of what I said, not because I do not know the meaning of the word

It pisses me of when Nigerians use sentences such as "Borrow me your book" instead of "Lend me your book" or "Am going to the supermarket" instead of "I'm going to the supermarket"

It is true that we are not native speakers of the English language but if you have lived long enough among native speakers of English I expect to see some improvement

@ToshoTosin my post was not meant to diss you so please don't think too much of it smiley

Hello people (especially AmEx users).
Can I transfer or donate my Amex BA companion voucher? I do have one companion voucher which will expire in March.

Also, I just maxed out my avios for the year (I spent £12,000 and have got a new companion voucher. Will any more spending accrue more avios for me? Or I have to wait till June to start getting avioses?

I know one can transfer to nectar as I have done before but not sure about donating.

I have maxed twice but only transferred few points to nectar. Don’t even know that those points can expire until I read your post now

You are 100% right, many that came in from 2021 even before naira prob cheated during visa application by using untouchable loans to get a visa hoping to work and pay fees. They openly discuss and encourage it here, agents openly advertising proof of fund here.

Now they are crying and complaining, opening threads and lying to people about the cause of their predicament.

Thanks @justwise

They do give feedback and its always on the spot for my role. What I don't understand is why such little detail will be a means for not progressing when he ticks major boxes like subject knowledge, assessment, behaviour management. Lessons can't be 100% for a new teacher.

What about those who gave feedback to wifey and said "no area in particular is needed for improvement"?

This is what happens when employers are spoilt for choices, it happens from time to time especially with increased number of immigrants too many people are chasing very few job positions. Like i said before don't give up because you have something that attracts those interviews.

Goodday Seniors, I have been on my third interview for a teaching role in design and technology. Although I got almost 15-20 interview invite but I declined to those with sponsorship.

The locations of the schools I have done my interviews were East Finchley, Ilford and Mansfield Woodhouse.

The schools commended my subject knowledge and assessment, behaviour management but gave what I'd like to call flimsy excuses for reasons not to go ahead with hiring. One even said I did not address myself as 'Mr' to the student.

Where do you think I am getting things wrong?? I am refusing to attribute it to anything related to 'racism'.

Same thing with wifey, the hiring team for her admin role in NHS said loud and clear "sincerely, you ticked all the boxes and there is no area we can say you needed to improve but we are sorry, we are just unable to hire you" this was their response on phone call (phone on speaker, so i heard too), after she had gone for the interview.

What tips or advise can you give us, it's getting frustrating

I’m glad you did not see this racially even if it’s, don’t give up applying for more jobs, you are getting closer, getting more interviews is a good sign.

The only tip I may give is to ask for a feedback after rejection email. Ask them to tell you any area they think you need to improve on going forward.

Ra***sm, tri****sm or serious discrimination is not limited to the whites alone please. It's something deep rooted in every human being, whether we like it or not. But we must make conscious efforts to water them down. For someone like me, I can't deny that I harbour serious resentment against those LG***Q nonsense as I still see them as sick people and that's classed as discrimination or even ra***sm in a way. But I've learnt to let them live their life while I live mine, we work together, eat together etc but they remain sick to me.

I usually remove hateful post like this and the other poster that used another hateful word ''sadEast'', but no because sometimes its important to shine the stoplight on our own behaviour towards other race/tribe etc.

That's another story entirely. Looking at my last P60, I feel like the small me is fully responsible for a junior doctor's livelihood.

Years ago I emailed the HR to tell them to stop sending me payslips and they did. Don’t want to see those taxes.

I actually think this adult social care thing benefits the economy in a few ways; mainly because funds from councils keep the care & support homes afloat... Some service users/patients receive as much as £17k monthly from the councils. Without these funds, care homes won't be able to pay staff (immigrants inclusive) working in care. Add free ihs, free school for children generally (immigrants inclusive.) It's a complicated relationship.

However, as long as funds are not being looted like in Nigeria, the system would keep going sustainably.
How is wasting taxpayers money beneficial to the economy? That dude was able to save £50K after all expenses, he is even demanding more money for holiday. Council tax going up every year, roads and city centres hardly maintained, government stepping in financially to help some councils, so where is the benefit to the economy?

This only came about, because of the recent change in legislation.......

The government is aware, people are gaming the system......

i support the action of the council to take back some of the money. This is just insane. He is even arguing that the council should pay for his PAs to accompanying him on holiday. He saved £50k but refused to use part of that money to pay for his PAs.

The benefit system in this country is one of the biggest scam ever

I was shocked when I read that story on BBC website. £11K a month he is getting for round the clock care and he was able to save 50K for holidays with his two PAs. No wonder city councils are going broke. Shocked !!
