004gist: I don't understand because they taxed me every month. All months i work they removed taxes of 20%. Except the first year they refunded saying it was my first year. Aa far as u work more than 20hrs u will be taxed If you earned more than £12,570 a year you will be taxed at 20%, your employer will start taxing your wages/salary from the first month , if at the end of the year you earned £12,570 or less the taxman will refund you all the money taxed. Lastly its pretty possible to save £1700 a month...depending on how much you earned and how you spend it.... Let me just add this for you....your utility bills are high, shop around for cheap deals..if you live alone and spent £200 on food alone then you are not responsible. £30 on phone? Contract phone or data? |

004gist: ..
I don't understand ur 12570 untaxed.. Because the government only tax 20% each month from my pay slip. The only time i got a refund was my first year which is the 12570 u talking about right?
Like say u enter uk free of charge.
We have people spending 40 to 50 million to UK right now on study visa.
So tell me how u gonna recover that money with just 1 and 6 months post study ? This should be the conversation now that sponsorship is almost not in existence or u think uk will give u visa as a laborer? It means that if you earns £20,000 a year, £12,570 will not be taxed, only £7,430 will be taxed at 20% |

This is getting very interesting... Former Conservative chancellor Nadhim Zahawi has defected to Reform UKA former Conservative MP, Zahawi was chancellor for two months under Boris Johnson and served as a government minister from 2018 to 2023. He said he felt the UK had reached a "dark and dangerous" moment, which was why the UK needed "a glorious revolution", as he outlined why he was joining Farage's party. In a speech to Reform supporters, Zahawi said issues with free speech "on X or even just down the pub", and anyone trying to earn a living "without getting ground into the dirt" by taxes were reasons for his move https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0lxn75gw1do |

nairalanda1: Mein Gott! Why are you lying so badly? Tv Licence is mandatory for eveyrone in the UK. Even for foreigners living there temporalilty for studies and so forth. It's only IF You don't have a TV that you don't pay. You are ignorantly calling me a liar? Let me repeat this again, in the UK you don't pay TV licence if you don't watch live program, you do not pay TV licence if you only watch recorded or repeated progs. Okay.. 60% of nigerians on meter bypass it 40% Overall of nigerians don't pay 20% of nigerians pay a cost reflective tarrif. the rest of those who pay underpay or pay subsidised rates, which gofment has difficulty paying for subsides on That's why discos ripoff consumers like overcharging unmetered customers, and doing estimated billing. They are losing so much money due to price controls that things are messed up 60% of Nigerians bypass paying for power supply? You still wonder Nigeria is crewed up? You have the gut to compare cost of living in Nigeria to that of the UK? And do you pay council tax plus income tax in Nigeria? Council tax in the UK can be between 180-200 pounds...monthly Or,345000-390000 naira monthly?
Most of us don't do above, and we want UK level of schools, streetlight, steet cleaning, and the list goes on?
Are you dreaming? You don't pay council tax in Nigeria but you pay income tax and got nothing from it. Where is the benefit when only 10 million people pay out of 230 million, and tax to gdp is below even that of Niger republic?
You are like the husband that gives his wife 200 naira to cook a pot of goat meat and chicken peppersoup that should last one month!
(I am not defending any useless PBAT government, or APC Or PDP or obi or atiku or buhari...I am just telling you reality as it is. Good things cost a lot of effing money. Nigeria is not making enough money, that is why your government is a mess, and why corruption must be fought at all costs!) Nigeria is not making enough money as an oil producing nation? Nigeria is not making enough money but your politicians earns more than politicians in the UK? So if you don't pay tax or hate paying one ...why are you expecting to enjoy benefits that comes from taxes? |

nairalanda1: Haha, no.
As an example, if you have a TV in your house, in Nigeria, you pay nothing to the government, in the UK, you pay a TV Licence. Also, you can spend as much as 30 pounds monthly for power supply for a one room house..that's 60000 naira. Then there is council tax, etc. You only pay TV licence if you watch live prog else you pay nothing for watching TV in the UK and you don't pay to the govt. You don't pay for electricity in Nigeria? Even when you don't get power supple for days? Council tax you pay for police, bin collection, road maintenance, street light, street cleaning, free school for kids and the list goes on.. What do you benefit from your tax you pay in Nigeria? |

Jerryblaq: Before you start .... on this update Remember the bills upon bills u have to pay in UK for survival. The lady might end up not saving enough after all the stress that she may have subjected herself to Bills she pay are for things she use daily, you don't pay bills in Nigeria for things you use and even things you don't use? |

Yes it can be done in your account and addition to the letter you need to also add your birth certificate, this is very important. |
