l think it has to do with both countries economy,if check you will realize nigeria and zimbabwe have very weak currency so they thought the reason why Nigerians are in they country is due to weak currency and it will make it difficult for nigerians and zimbabweans to go back to they respective countries.

Honestly nigeria has a long way to go,when l read one South africa guy post on one social media that you can connect flight to any countries of your choice even in their villages without going to their big cities actually made me realize nigeria really has a very long way to go.

Do you know why nigeria has low unemployment rates compared to countries like South africa is because most nigerians mainly engaged in informal economic activities which can lead to inefficiency,low productivity, maltreatment,harassment and exploitation of employees unlike South africa that is mostly run by formal economic activities.

This constant agitation for micro-states is unserious. Real states are built around economic viability, infrastructure, and governance capacity, not just sentiment.

Until someone can define the hard criteria, population size, GDP output, landmass, resources, this noise about turning every LGA into a state is nothing but a distraction.

States in Nigeria is equivalent of counties in USA and Nigeria a equivalent of sates in USA since some state in USA is as big as nigeria such as Alaska and california which almost equivalent,for me more states and LGAs should be created and LGAs made autonomous as this will help bring development much closer to the people and help reduce poverty as it is obtainable in UK.

Why can't their abolish the state system and replace them with counties,creating more counties will sound more appealing than saying creating more state since state appears to be bigger geographically and landmass as it is obtainable in the USA,each counties will have it own local governments and the local governments coming together to make up the counties,Governors and local governments chairmen or mayors are elected to lead the counties and local governments respectively,each counties elect a house member and counties that are geographically located or close to each other will be designated a constituency to elect a senator for instance Ebonyi south Will be changed to Greater Afikpo constituency for senatorial election and edda local governments and Afikpo local governments will emerge to form Afikpo counties which will make up 3-4 local governments and l use Afikpo because Afikpo is the populous town in Ebonyi south,this way governments will be much closer to the people and federal or central government will be responsible for monthly allocation to the counties and local governments and the counties and local governments must work hard to improve their Gdp and Igr through infrastructural development and investment in Agriculture.

Please l want to use this medium to solicitate the federal government to move the federal teaching hospital or FMC in Abakaliki the Ebonyi state capital to Afikpo the second largest town in the state,l think is anomaly for both the federal teaching hospital and FMC and Ebonyi state teaching hospital to reside in a particular locality,moving the teaching hospital or FMC to Afikpo will not only benefit Ebonyi south but also Abia North and cross river central since these both places are closer to Afikpo,l know that someone will argue that Afikpo already have federal polytechnic but don't forget that ikwor also houses college of education and federal university.

It shows that the greatest impediment to country's development is corruption,no wonder china is developing infrastructure ally, economically and technologically. Wish nigeria could emulate from China

The problem of this will be for example, a Governor Ododo shielding a former Governor Yaha Bello from arrest and prosecution....using the State Police.

We never get State Police, the high and mighty are already abusing the privilege of Federal Police.....they will surely use this to oppress political opponents.

Although, it will be a good thing as far as local security is concerned...

I hope there will be a way to checkmate possible excesses of such State Police

From the comments l can see that so many people are myopic and full of hate for Ebonyi state,if manchester city that is smaller than my community in terms of landmass could own an airport is it Ebonyi state as big as it is couldn't own an airport,if Ebonyians couldn't afford an airport you have to blame the fed govt for making wrong policies that is affecting the gdp per capita or purchasing power of nigerians,or let me ask you what if a foreign investor and expatriate want to come to Ebonyi state and he doesn't want to go by road but air trip don't you think that it might prevent the expatriate from coming to Ebonyi state thereby affecting the development of Ebonyi state,for me any state that doesn't have an airport in this present nigeria consider how insecurity is everywhere on our roads is not ready for development.

I'm from Ebonyi state sometimes l always feel l can have an independent nation comprising present day Ebonyi state,Imo state,River state,Abia state,cross river state and akwa ibom excluding Anambra and some parts of Enugu. We will converts the states to provinces and counties and strong parliamentary system of government devoid of tribalism, segregation, corruption and tribal superiority just like South Africans.

Umahi didn't rig anything,l'm from Ebonyi South and looking at the results in the front page you will discover that Umahi did well in Afikpo north despite Afikpo people not voting Umahi but voted massively for their brother in Apga making Pdp to win with low margin with high Apc votes coming from Unwana that further reduce Pdp wining margin,in Afikpo south Apc won with high margin which is the lga of the current senator and Apc also won with high margin in ohazara lga which is the lga of dave umahi.
