As a matter of fact, it saddens me to see a nation of such well educated and industrious people being so easily misled by a few greedy people whose overall interests can only be described as selfish in nature. The anger of the Igbos are genuine, but misdirected. They should hold their governors, senators, and other elected representatives responsible for all the years of neglect of their region. Everymonth, each state receives allocations, taxes, other sources of revenue which most of them are not able to account for. Why can't the Igbos demand what these monies are being spent on, instead of leading baseless protests and further destroying their own properties?
They say they're being marginalized, but so far none has been able to define what they mean by that.

Something interesting happened on my way to Oshodi this
morning. At the park this rough mean-looking conductor
also known as “agbero” in Yoruba was screaming for
passengers, his vernacular oscillating between Yoruba and
pidgin English.
“Oshod! Oshod!” He shouted angrily as I along with some
other passengers scuttled for seats. There was this beautiful
young lady who couldn’t throw caution and decorum to the
wind but waited patiently until the bus was almost filled.

Then she pleaded to sit by the agbero until somebody came
down then she would pay for a proper seat.
The agbero didn’t even look at her pretty face, he hissed and
shouted to the driver to move that why didn’t she rush when
others were rushing. The girl started pleading in Yoruba and
clean ‘oyinbo’ english; “please, ejó, help me out sir, I know
you are a good man, never mind all this shout you have
been shouting (people burst into laughter). Let me sit by
your side please”.

Finally with much squeezing of face the agbero relented and
she sat beside him. It was a tight squeeze but she didn’t
complain but rather started praising the agbero.
He in turn started teasing her, speaking (and sometimes spitting by
mistake) into her face but the girl never looked away, she
never let the smile leave her face. He asked her where she
worked and she replied that she was a student in the
University of Lagos (UNILAG) studying accounting.

He teased her in Yoruba about her boyfriend and car (maybe asking
why her boyfriend didn’t drop her at her destination…she
laughed it off and continued to gist with the guy in Yoruba.

When she reached her junction the agbero alighted the bus
for her to come down. She did and paid her transport fare,
then the agbero told her to give him a peck on the cheek for
being so ‘gentlemanly’. At this point some of us became
indignant, haba! He had been teasing her since, he should
let her go. [/b]

If you're going for NYSC in 2months, then I'll suggest you continue your present job of 20k. First you'll need it for your NYSC preps and all, and second, you are likely to have plenty of time during NYSC to run your computer programs

You don't need to know any one in any tertiary institution in order to school there. In the case of exams like post-utme, or to go make enquiries, you can always walk into any hostel and politely ask to 'squat' with a student for one or two days.
And after admission you make friends with students and lecturers alike...

Another factor to consider: if you stop your job now, will you still be able to sustain yourself while doing your computer programs?
If not then the next best option is to get another job that gives you more free time

With UNIBEN the issues of tribalism are much less reduced, your chances of admission remains 50/50. Just try to do very well in your exams and pray.

Ok, I was being sarcastic, but that aside, let me put it very simply for you:
If as an employer I see 2 CVs before me, one from UNIBEN and the other from NOUN, the NOUN applicant would have to have something really extra-special & maybe some bad-ass practical skills for me to chose him/her over the UNIBEN applicant.

get the admission first then i'll tell u which one to 'pick'.

Yes, you are right. But the fact is that most of them are either born by Muslim parents or they are Arabs. The fact that they don't practise the religion means they are not Muslims. That's what I believe though.

Remember a former Nigerian army commander said some of them caught could not even recite Suratul Fatia that all Muslims recite everyday. But what gives anybody the label of Islam, Christianity, Hinduism etc as the case may be is the religion which the person has chosen to identify with, not necessarily how good he/she is in practising that religion. Not every Christian can recite John 3:16 (the most popular Bible verse), goes to church at least once a week or prays everyday. But that doesn't make them non Christians in the nominal sense.
