so by living in ghana for a year makes you think you have got the full facts? how about living 10 years in both countries and in different parts of both countries. you lack deeper insight to think that being quarantined from a toddler age to age 30 or even later in classrooms where people teach you their ways of thinking and analysing things means you are intellectually with it. I will humbly submit to you to learn from the oneswho have never sat in a classroom. life is a school. whereas am not against formal education, i think people like you need to take a hard look at the basis of your perceptions in life. you are a product of a system forcefully and aggresively thrusted in your minds to make you percieve that what you have had is proper education. hence you overwhelming confidence in statistics which are grossly based on assumptions. i will not give you any figures for you to analyse. i will appeal to your intellect to think outside stats. |
@Chambers you see you are quick to jump to conclusions without fact. me stating that i do not attribute authority to western style statistics based on assumptions does not fully imply that i assert the problems of Africa to be the fault of Westerners which you wrongly seem to be alluding to. its clear from your thinking that its seems too industrious for you to analyse arguments circumspectly without alluding to misconceptions. my friend understand me when i speak, if you don't get it you can seek clarification its no sign of stupidity to seek clarification. Its rather embarrassing to wrongly assume things and based your points |
chamber2:I have already stated my background as a philosopher and a biomedical scientist. now if you noticed my contributions to this debate, i have not yet stated my stance on the subject matter rather i picked out a quote from your post as deliberately biased. now based on that, i have noticed am unable to communicate with you due to your twisted sense of self affirmation. you are very content with self worth based on GDP, GDP per capita hdi etc. i will never make an assertion that Ghana is better than Nigeria nor will i assert that Nigeria is better than Ghana. but i can understand why some people might stand by the former. having interracted with people who have lived in both countries, and examined the facts on the ground, there is little to choose between the two for me but nevertheless Ghana will edge Nigeria. you can dispute this by quoting the western styled indices's but, i strongly will use other indicies based on sound logical realistic facts. |
chamber2:you see you and those who fail to understand me all lack critical thinking skills. what i am trying to achieve with half educated people like you is to examine whether or not these parameters used in categorising us are true reflections of what development is all about. but you see you just went through education without attaining the hallmark of lateral reasoning. instead you bought into the old age trick of western education which seeks to categorise you so that you can easily be manipulated based on stats which are gross assumptions. am a science graduate and a also a theologian, i analyse things philosophically as well as scientifically. since you do not know the rudiments of the game, it is impossible to reason with you on a higher level that is why i will play your game and statistically define you as being half educated at best and ignorantly arrogant at worst. |
@chambers. My expressions are very consistent with my thoughts. for you, you lack the capacity to reason laterally. for you everything has to be black or white. That is why you will claim superiority with statistics neglecting the deep suffering of your own people. comparing figures which are largely inconclusive to the subject matter. and boy dare not compare your bush self to moi. we are not in the same class. sorry mate. you are as i stated earlier at best half educated and at worst ignorantly arrogant. |
chamber2:have you ever wondered that this is a social forum and for that matter writing here is no academic exercise thereore one can use any form of writing as long as your readers can comprehend what you are writing. I must say you are very stupid to think not answering yes even to what makes sense means you are intelligent. on the contrary it reveals your ignorant arrogant nature. niaralanders and for that matter nigerians intelligent than all sub saharan africans? on which planet. Bush egoistic man who does not have the ability to separate reality from fiction or faction. undiscerning low level man who thinks he has to claim superiority to affirm his identity. i pity you |
@chamber2 and what makes your ignorant self think ghanaians do not attend good schools in the world? highest no of educated people for where? in no may be yes but as a percentage per populace definately no no. boy u are at best half informed and at worst oblivious. you are very vain to think 6th largest gas reserves by itself translates into tangible impacts on peoples lives. dont you get it? the situation the ground does not match the potentail nigeria has. untill then nigeria isn;t in no shape or form better than ghana period. take it or leave it but the truth is absolute. |
you lack the true meaning of education. the wholepoint of a degree( which am beginingt to doubt if u have any) is to be a critical thinker you do not confuse reality with figures. life is not about figures. yes stats are samples from reality but if you care to lnpw every statistics hypothesis is based on assumptions. it is these assumtions that makes every statistician use the figures only as a guide but not as authority. my friend u seriuosly lack critical thinking. you have only gone through education and come out as most people average. |
chamber2:my friend i prefer to think that you are smart, for you to confidently claim superiority based on figures compiled by someone else is said. you are clearly defined by figures. when nigeria is noted as having the third highest cases of hiv in the world with perharps the highset level of inequality in the world you confidently defend your appalling state with figures that awe all know are clearly manipulated . so what will be your argument come two years when Ghana's oil production makes the statistics very better for her and surpasses yours. you need to exercise critical thinking and compare reality with reality than comparing statistic with statistics which more often than not are very different from situations on ground. |

collinsfbi:mate are you implying that i have been plagarising? certainly not. that was a piece i typed very sensibleindeed but the moderators wants this animousity to continue so they flagged me out i still hold to my suspicion this forum appears to be manipulated. |
http://www.modernghana.com/news/310930/1/when-will-britain-return-looted-golden-ghanaian-ar.html WELL THE ABOVE LINK TELLS GHANA@S OWN LOOTED ITEMS FAR BACK IN THE 18 CENTURY FROM THE FAMOUS ASHANIT KINGDOM ENCOMPRISING PURE GOLDEN ARTEFACTS. INFACT THEY ARE DISPLAYED IN BRITISH MESEUMS. THE LOOTING AS FROM EVERYWHERE THEY WENT. THOSE ITEMS ARE WORTH MILLIONS IF NOT A BILIION CONSIDERING THE AGE, FINE NATURE AND QUANTITY OF ARTEFACTS. |
gernded:yeh ghana is certainly good and will get better. a new industry on top of what it has is in play now. OIL industry. it is said come 2012 jubilee field will be producing 250,000 barrels and thats from one oil well. there are about 6 major wells in development and its clear come 2015 more oil ill be flowing. at present its estimated that Ghana's total oil reserve ist aroung 10bl . this is smaller than nigerias at around 33 bl. but hey ghana is a country of 25 miliion and nigeria more than 150 million. ghana has very vibrant industries if you care to knoww check this out.http://www.nationsencyclopedia.com/economies/Africa/Ghana-INDUSTRY.html the industry contibutes about 30% of its GDP NOW AT 48BILLION DOLLARS OFF COURSE SMALLER THAN NIGERIA'S OF AROUND 180 BILLION. SO YOU SEE ghana IS HOLDING ITS OWN . I HARDLY BELEIF IN FIGURES . HAVING SAID THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE IN COMPARISMS EITHER . THE CASE OF NIGERIA AND GHANA TO ME IS LIKE USA AND UK. BOTH DEVELOPED YET ONE IS HUGELY LARGER IN EVERYTHING THAN THE OTHER. I MEAN GDP, POPULATION, LAND MASS ETC. YET UK NEVER |
Jen33:millions for where? why do you foolishly and confidently affirm what you do not know? |
there is something about some nigerians, very ignorant yet arrogantly foolish enough to be assertive. everyone who argues using statistics that he/she i mean your country has not got authority over is really pathetic. the west have got us wher they want. they decide who is developed or not by just manipulating figures. well the smart nigerian thinks yep am rich based on figures, hmm do they really translate into development, infact are they actually truthful or manipulative? whiles the majority of the population languishes in underdevelopment. |
why are people always buying into statistics, as it is they are always manipulated. so they hardly give a true indication. especially in our part of the world where economies are largely informal. |
i am begin to suspect this forum is been manipulated. my very sensible comment has consistently been flagged as spam. why? |
people need to read well posts before they comment. my response to a poster who said he thinks is arrogance that made britain keep its driving prefernace should not be misconstrudede with my choice of place of settlement. its an observation that i have mad and as it is, no situation is perfect but some are better than others. seconding what someone has observed is no indication that one necessarily is unhappy with where he is. I can easily handle people with differnet personalities. I have such an adaptive nature however it does not mean i cant form opinions shaped by experiences. |
you know i think this ghana naija thing should be settled in a war. but on a more seriuos note why? moderator you need not entertain such topics any further. |
Riot5000:ah bro i so much second u. i live here in the uk and what you so can not be further from the truth. they love to control you and when you resist they blacklist/ blackmail you. very arrogant. always believe their reasons for doing things are justified. truly its America that contributes greatly to their status and the europe in which they are. the other europeans know they are close to USA so by entertaining them, they get to be favoured with the us and this is how its been all along. |
collinsfbi:oh this story really saddens me eventhouugh am not nigeNigerianhave lost appetite for the discussion can we still be making those comparisma after such oh god this truly is heart aching |
Crude Oil:DID YOU WATCH THE WORLD CUUP IN SOUTH AFRICA? DID YOU SEE THE GHANAIAN MEN AND THEIR MUSCLES? WELL TONED BODY FAR FROM BEING SMALLLISH? |
being a gentle man and refusing to hit a woman is no sign of weakness fools if you care to understand it is patience born out of love in demonstration. they have reported the incidents because they want to resolve it amicably not through violence as some of you twisted people think men should behave or people for that matter. its refusing to be uncivilised or brutal. HUMILITY IS EXERCISING STRENGTH WITH RESTRAINT. EVENTHOUGH THE MEN CAN RETALIATE THEY CHOSE NOT TO THAT REQUIRES MUCH DISCIPLINE WHICH IS A GREAT SIGN OF STRENGTH. AND FOR THE ONE WHO THINKS SUCH MEN ARE WITNUTS YOU ARE IMPLYING YOU WILL TOLERATE ABUSE HOW SAD IS THAT RATHER? |

Litmus:@litmus, hey you have disrespected a whole nation and its people with your comment, thank you very much and i have one praye prayerou in whatever you do you may you encounter seriuoseriousgressionuntil you come to point when you will render apology to an entire great nationlike Ghana |
The poster has a legitimate concern, As someone who has been to few places on this planet and lived over ten years in UK, i was surprised with the wave of what I call ''Nigerialisation'' going on in my beloved GH. Personally i believe in diversity. i think what is going on is more of an erosion of national pride and identity due to the aggressive loudness of some Nigerians. the poster has a legitimate concern. just put yourself in the shoes of a proud person whose cultural identity is under threat. |
savanaha:YES AND NO CHOOSE ONE AND JUSTIFY YOUR ANSWER. IF YOU ARE NIGERIAN ANSWER NO AND IF FROM GHANA GH 4 SHORT ANSWER YES. THE ONE WHO WRITES MOST WINS |
