Foreign Affairs › Re: Empty Classrooms: S/Korea Shuts Down Over 4,000 Schools Amid Birth Rate Crisis by Kaczynski: 3:16am On Jan 05 |
Gerrard59: South Korea's own is finished, anyway. Until artificial wombs are invented, I don't see the birth rate rising to the minimum TFR. More schools to be closed. The sources of preferred migrants are Vietnam, China, parts of Southeast Asia and Central Asia. Except for Central Asia, the rest are experiencing low birth rates. Central Asian folks, some of whom are ethnic Koreans o, complain of racism as well in Korea.
For those advocating South Korea importing Africans, well, birth rates of immigrants mimic the natives within a generation. The only solution to increasing the birth rate is to have women give birth to as many children as possible. However, modern day women are not interested in such. So bear with the low birth rates..
2035 go make sense die! The only immigrants korean women fancy and likely to marry are chinese men , others are a no for them. The higher a woman earns and go up in her career means the less children to no children she tends to have . |

Fountainofyouth: A failure that doesn't that it is possible to be a graduate and acquire different skills, will continue to be a failure
A failure that tries to discourage others from being graduates cos his limited mindset and -0 IQ thinks one can only make it through acquired skills will continue to be an everlasting failure
A failure that thinks just cos one in a hundred thousand is able to make it without being graduate, especially in a country like Nigeria, will continue to be a failure till the end of time
An irredeemable failure will limit those around him, manipulate unsuspecting innocents to be like him thinking his average lifestyle is the yardstick
Stay away from failures today people, for posterity sake, pls stay away. How many graduates are skilled ?? Some can't even write a resume without using chatgpt. In nigeria ordinary final year project , go and see how undergrads pay to outsource theirs. Wake up, school is not everything . People are making it without seeing the four walls of a university. After they have made it, they proceed to buy some fancy degree just to show off . In the 90s going to school was okay and you could actually gain something from it. My grandfather graduated from university of ibadan, department of physics , back when the system was actually working not now where everything is a merse , education keeps moving backwards and teqchers keep teaching all sort of slop. Come and go see their 1960 annual year book see what i am talking about, their skills actually talking not their degree. |

abduleez1: The Chaser (2008)..... 8.5/10 Language: Korean
Na Hong-Jin is a top tier director. I'm anxiously anticipating his next project. South Koreans seem to have perfected this subgenre of top tier serial killer storytelling. They are darn too good at this game. This is a surprisingly top tier film especially when you consider it's a directorial debut. Mind-blowing still when you consider it's adapted from a real life crime in Korea.
Between this and Memories of Murder, I must say Koreans really do know their serial killer fare. Unlike Hollywood which focuses on the killings of the serial killer or alternatively go for understanding the psyche of the psychopathic killer— South Korean directors follow a different path and instead focus on the impacts and after effects the serial killers leave on the community, most especially the toll it leaves on the individuals and/or police officers trying to figure out the actual identity of the killer or try to find evidences nailing the serial killer.
These killers are so meticulous with their craft that you can't just prosecute them without hard evidences proving beyond reasonable doubt their culpability in the crimes.
The suspense and tension was just top notch and nerve wrecking from start to finish. Highly recommended. There was a scene I was unconsciously wringing my feet. Yuck.
David Fincher the father of serial killer fare, does these I've mentioned too, most especially the character deconstruction he does with Zodiac and Se7en. Two of my favourite films of all time. The cop was so annoying and lack sense. The only korean director i respect is lee chang dong. |

Baddestguyp: The Manipulated (2025)....7/10
Decent watch, but the ending was very rushed. And the last scene shows a possibility of a season 2 especially since there are still a few plot threads left untied. I am not sure how things would work tho, the main plot seems settled by a dues ex machina with all the evidence conveniently kept by the antagonist...

Even billionaires that didn't attend or dropped out of school went back to complete their education because they know the significance of being a university graduate. Its your mere ignorance and nonchalant attitude thinking that being a graduate is a big deal. Even Seun did not graduate from uni look at you using his forum. I let my kids do whatever they want with ground rules . we are literally in the 21st century where you can educate yourself and prove you got skills , no need to join the herd of sheep and do whatever the system tells you to .
