When I code, I don't use AI and I don't even use code completion, this post is about why not.Let's begin with AI. The reason why I don't use AI, besides from what I will explain in a moment about code completion, is because I have yet to see useful results beyond what is comparable to ripping of code snippets from Stack Overflow. Yes, AI can certainly produce much code, more that snippets, but what it produces is ripped off snippets of code from here and there. Often the code doesn't work or it contains security problems. AI is hyped up to be something it isn't and it's "stupidity" (you can't really call it stupid, because it cannot be smart to begin with) is concealed behind what appears to be solid and authoritative answers. Still it knows absolutely crap about what it is doing.I am not saying that it's not useful at all. If what you're doing to begin with is copy/pasting code from Stack Overflow or elsewhere, then sure, because Google and other search engines have become so bad, AI can often provide you with relevant answers much faster than you shifting through page after page of useless Google Junk. But then you will reap what you sow. Whenever you get a code snippet from an AI, try to search the Internet for that piece of code, you will fairly quickly discover where it was ripped off from and why it's generally a bad idea to use such code. But even if AI truly did produce really good code, I would not use it for the same reason that I don't use code completion. Back in the days, before the mobile phone was widely used, and even a short while after that, we used to have personal phone books. This could be a small notebook, or even a simple piece of paper. On that we would put all the important phone numbers of family, friends, co-workers, etc. When we needed to call someone, and they had a new phone number, we looked it up in the book, then punched in the numbers and called the person. When we had done that a couple of times, the number stuck and we no longer needed to look. Now, with modern phones and their build in phone books, it's so easy to call people without typing in their phone number that we just don't bother anymore. The result is that we cannot even remember the numbers of our parents or children.Code completion works the same way. It's convenient and it saves you time, just like the build in phone book, but it makes you less proficient at coding. When you code without AI and without code completion you eventually remember much by heart and you become good at looking things up directly in the relevant documentation, and this is really important. don't assume that I am saying that you should never use tools that will help you get the job done, that's not what I am saying. Using a calculator to do math is often easier and faster than doing the all the calculations manually, and that can be really helpful. But simply punching in the numbers without understanding the math will never make you a good mathematician. |

airsaylongcome:more nigerian are in IT just for money, that's why there's influx of nigerians in tech sectors like front end , web dev , product design you hardly see any Nigerian or probably just one or two in fields like embedded systems, parallel computing, game dev , operating systems ( nigerians are scarce here) assembly. there are lots for different machines. used to pay very well in the 90s. for me it's motorola assembly. kinda simple because of easy mnemonics and lots of resources |
Alphabyte3:AI exaggerate a lot i doubt Chevron IT dept would be using AI in their modules |
you are in a niche field , its gonna be hard finding nigerians doing such ?? most are abroad, very few are probably in embedded systems or networking I'm in a niche field myself but in graphics mainly heavy maths shit trying to get into hardware but asm is a bastardo |

nigeria needs you. These are troubled times. Stop "having fun". "Fun" is not for men. Stop smiling. Always wear a senator.. Grow a beard. Be cold. Be serious. Be stoic. Grind for 21 hours a day. Take a 2min cold shower. Read manosphere/self-improvement/finance/motivational books for an hour. Sleep for 3 hours (at most). Monetize a hobby. Get a passive income. Always be ready to hop on a call with your clients and prospective businesses partners. Never engage in casual sex. Never drink alcohol. Never play videogames. Never consume sugar. Never consume carbs. Only eat at the end of your hard day of work as a reward, and never drink to fulfillment. Always stay hungry. Drink 4L of water daily. Never do drugs. Take your pills. Quit caffeine. Quit movies, music, shows, videos or any form of "entertainment". Go to Church. Never watch porn. Never masturbate. Never sin. Study the biology of female attraction. Talk to that girl. With a serious face and calculated words. Be a gentleman with her and with every woman. Marry and provide for her and her kids. Become a father. Sacrifice yourself for your family. Put your wife's needs above yours. Grind relentlessly. No "rest" days. Defend free speech online. Defend the correct positions. Enlist. Fight for your country. Bear the cross. Responsibility. Sacrifice. Suffering. Struggle. It is hard. It is supposed to be. Put. In. The. Work. |
