Some of Jonathans programs I like some i don't like. But this pardon is pure madness. Anybody that supports it from any angle or viewpoint must be smoking whatever their smoking in aso villa. I have drawn one conclusion though that our opinion doesn't matter. |
tomakint: Some people are just fond of crying more than the bereaved, is it not the same Jonathan that more than 80% of Nairalanders have never shown any respect for that I will be wasting my time educating the young ones here to understand why the Presidential pardon is no big deal? I am sure if Fashola has done similar thing, none of those 'clowns' here will raised an eyebrow, where were they all when the likes of Tinubu, Bode George, etc were left off the hookI don't think you understand the ramifications of a presidential pardon. It is a clean slate, he can contest and participate in elections. Besides it was very insensitive, a slap in the face of the war against corruption. By the comments of okupe it shows they can't be less disturbed by the opinions of the people |

all those who went out early and got themselves the new iPad (iPad 3) must feel insulted by apple for releasing the iPad 4 so soon after rendering their dear devices obsolete. They should have launched the iPad mini only and launched Ipad 4 next year. Is this just a profiteering scheme to meet the Christmas holiday season. Without any thought for their consumers. Though apple is offering to replace iPad 3s bought withing the past 30 days they have left out those who bought theirs at an earlier date. |

Nigerian aviation officials say a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Lagos will need to make an emergency landing because it has problems with its landing gear. Harold Demuren, director-general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, told The Associated Press that the flight Saturday declared an emergency prior to its arrival to Lagos. Demuren said firefighting equipment and personnel were standing by for the arrival of Flight No. QR592 at Lagos' Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Officals with Qatar Airways could not be immediately reached for comment. The company's website showed the Airbus A330-300 aircraft had an estimated arrival time of 1 p.m. local time (1200 GMT). http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/nigeria-lagos-airport-set-emergency-landing-17354858#.UGbouLTd57F |

NAN-H-3 FESTAC Abuja, Sept. 8, 2012 (NAN) Chief Edem Duke, Minister of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, says the Festival of African Culture (FESTAC) can be revived in two years. Duke said this on Friday in Abuja at a presentation of an all-female dance troupe from Cuba. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event featured the presentation of dances from the Cuban troupe, Obini Bata and the Jukun dancers from Taraba, Nigeria. The Minister said replicating FESTAC ‘77 was a challenge the country faced and urged stakeholders and the different Heads of Missions in Nigeria to work towards realising the vision. ``Nigeria has been handed with a challenge and that challenge is to replicate FESTAC ‘77. ``I see it as a possibility, and the only limitation to this is the will and desire of the stakeholders who will make this happen. ``We are talking about this two years ahead. We will engage with the various governments, stakeholders in the private sector and the culture community to ensure that this can happen. ``I want to plead with the Heads of Missions. Let us put in our plans the possibility of replicating FESTAC ‘77. ``If not to honour the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914, but to help in the African renaissance agenda,’’ he said. Edem said replicating FESTAC ‘77 would encourage cultural fusion among Africans in the Diaspora. ``It will be such a wonderful opportunity to gather and celebrate humanity and our love for one another,’’ he said. Also speaking at the occasion, the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Hugo Milanes, said the event was a reminder of the bilateral and cultural bonds shared by both countries. He also appreciated the efforts of the ministry in promoting Nigerian culture. ``It is a trip to our roots. This is Cuban music, but music that is linked to Nigerian cultural tradition. That is part of our culture. ``It is just a way of saying `thank you to Nigeria’, and `thanks’ to Africa for this contribution to our cultural heritage. NAN recalls that FESTAC ‘77 was the Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture and was held in Lagos in 1977. It came as a result of the experiences which Africa had gone through. It was for Africans, Africans in Diaspora and Peoples of African origin to come together and rediscover their roots and establish ties with Motherland Africa. Its aim was to ensure the revival, resurgence, promotion of the Black and African cultural values and civilisation.(NAN) ================== |

umechuma: I hate Nigeria with passion.Nigeria is among the most useless countries in the World.U need serious help, better go to the UN and declare yourself nation less. How could a Nigerian make such a statement. If I rain all the insults I plan they would probably delete my post. |
Think we should bid too |
Pozzy: Do you have any link online where i can watch that opening ceremony?this is just a small small clip of coja opening ceremony http://www.eca2.com/287/special-event-anglais/8th-all-africa-games-ceremonies-nigeria-2003 |
alexola20: No mind the ROSSIKE of a guy.The opening ceremony of the 8th all Africa games Abuja, was one of the best a contingent from the Beijing olympics came to take notes. International Olympic commitee president said it was one of the best he had ever seen. With artistic direction from wole Soyinka |
For all of u who say it won't happen. Let me categorically state that we would host the olympics between 2028 and 2032 It maybe just a dream but dreams do become reality. If you dont like it go and find a new country. Nigeria does not deserve citizens like you |
He's a miracle working GOD |
funky medina: Useless at freethrows, uselessat 3 point shots. Nonsence! divine2043: One serious question? What is our game strength? We do not seem to have a consistent, efficient plan - many individual plays though - Diogu and the Aminus. All these badbelle people, why can't u just be happy and proud your country is winning, you are the basketball "experts" go and coach ur own team |
$tunna:I don't think there is anybody willing to give up more for nigerias problem to go away, for Godsakes I'm in nsukka, the under development is so glaring, but there are strides in certain areas if you enter UNN it looks like a construction field, all the old buildings are being pulled down and new ones erected some being remodeled. You cannot claim to not know there is intense remodeling work at the nations airports, Lagos is already planning a lekki airport , can't it be part of the olympic bid, I mean the Olympics forces you to develop modern infrastructure. Lagos needs it. A light rail is already under construction it can be expanded for the games. THE GAMES IS NOT ABOUT THE MOST ADVANCED COUNTRY, its about culture tradition propagation of the olympic movement, its about influence. The iOc has been encouraging africa to try. You are so ur patriotic it boggles the mind how can you ask if there will be Nigeria in 2028, even if deep in your heart you know it's a possibility, you don't pronounce it with pride. Pls I have no other country to be proud of, go and cross the SAHARA |

danielng: If by todayThats the thing it's private sector driven. Besides the pearl tower in it as begun to reach for the sky |
Let's not forget our mantra NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT. Even though things are bad we have to look to the future with hope.it is our attitude that will make us not to get the Olympics. If we have any drop of patriotism, we would not attack our country at the drop of a hat. The question is what are You doing to make it better. When I'm am angry I vent my anger towards GEJ and his cronies bu never towards Nigeria never |
ogbonoeba: What about boko haram?Lagos just needs to get it right |
We seem to not understand that Nigerians influence on the continent is unchallengeable. An only pics in south Africa will never be seen to be truly African . I'm just saying lets try first, it's a thing of national pride which is much needed in this country. I don't see why we have to be so furious at the thought of the idea. |
So Kenya that is planning to bid should they go and die, The winning city's not about who has the most developed city, but about propagating the Olympic movement while meeting the minimum standards. It is the state governor who is in charge of the Olympics, with the support of the federal government, Do you honestly believe that if BRF starts now to plan for the Olympics it won't be successful? |
ROSSIKE: What do I expect from an inferiorized pigface like you? Is Brazil not hosting the next Olympic games? Is Brazil not a developing country like yours? You think there's no corruption in Brazil? Is there not poverty there? There are slums and bad roads all over Brazil. Do you know that as we speak, Brazil is battling with power cuts?? The problem with you people is your inferiority complex. It is the biggest curse on you people. You have this stup.id idea that because Nigeria is not like Germany or America, she cannot do anything. But other countries don't think like that. Even China today, many of her people are fleeing the country due to hardship. She still has millions of poor folk. Millions of Chinese reside in the US till tomorrow. Indians same thing. But none of these people have this idea that their countries are 'hopelesss' or worthless etc. Only Nigerians have that mentality, and it's a terrible disease that you need to cure youselves of. And don't tell me about corruption blah blah blah. Even in Transparency International's latest index, 48 countries are rated more corrupt than Nigeria, and those countries include Russia, Venezuela, Ivory Coast etc etc. But you'll never see those people rubbish their country with impunity at every turn. You said it all |
There's no harm in trying, if we put forward a content bid with clear developmental strategies we could get it. The widow for the first African Olympics is between 2024 and 2032. Would we wait for south Africa to come and take if again |
