Hey guys I just stumbled upon an interesting web app/ or website or any thing you call it.

You know how sometimes you want to know more about whats happening on ground in North East post Boko Haram crisis as regards to IDPs but don't know where to find the information??

Apparently some guys built a web app that allows one easy search with any keyword. You don't even need to press enter to see what you are looking for. So if you're looking to donate to the Internally Displaced Persons in Borno or any other North Eastern State, this Christmas and need information on food, just type 'Rice' or 'Beans', etc.

I think it's pretty new too.

Here's the url http://idps.orodataviz.com/

Safe hunting guys.

WebmastersWhy US Released New Design Standards For Its Websites by Kagawa(op): 2:40pm On Sep 29, 2015
A look at the FBI’s page, one would think it was pulled out of 2005.

One would think the United States, a country that hosts many of the world’s most powerful tech companies, would show off some strong design chops on its official websites. Alas, that is rarely the case; just look at the FBI’s page, which looks like it was pulled out of 2005.

Thankfully, that should be changing soon. The US Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council – which itself has a pretty outdated website – has released anew set of guidelines and open-source components to help government websites get started on clean, flexible designs that look appropriate for the times.

More importantly, government websites should help you find the information you’re looking for quickly. The new design standards highlight four principles:

Making the best thing the ‘easiest’ thing:
The new guidelines were made to help developers and designers take advantage of simple tools and to deliver high quality content.

Accessibility out of the box:

The standards were built to comply with accessibility standards, from color to code.
Flexibility: Government pages should adapt to different screen sizes and form factors. They should also be consistent across different .gov website

Reusing best practices:
The CIO says it’s reviewed and repurposed patterns, code and designs from government a private style guides to use established best practices. The CIO also emphasizes using common UI components as well as 508-compliant colors and typography.

BusinessHelp Them To Help You Un-bottle Your Business And SME Bottlenecks by Kagawa(op): 11:24pm On Sep 01, 2015
SMEs in Nigeria are still confronted with difficulties in operating environment. The poor state of roads increase the cost of transporting both raw materials and finished goods to and from markets.

Limited availability of electricity and its high cost when available promotes the continued use of traditional low technology or legacy systems of production and also increases cost. There are also all kinds of regulatory and legal bottlenecks like licensing and registration which often creates barriers to their smooth operations.

Also, it is common to find the activities in the SMEs sector under constant threats from different organs of government. Different tiers of government collect regressive and multiple taxes and levies as well as other unofficial fees from SMEs. This probably is the reason for the three major problems of SMEs as captured by the Doing Business report to be: getting electricity, registering property and paying taxes.

These guys want to change all these, starting by giving you access to beautified information so you can make proper decisions.

You cite oil work, and mining, that is the problem with many young individuals today...

we all want to hammer but don't want to pay our dues.

It is not everyone that can be Bill gates or Mark Zukcerberg, nor everyone can work in shell or NNPC.

If na only oyel work and mining work you dey find since and you never get headway, have tried other sectors that could be hiring?

And if you have not tried those sectors? If you havent because simply they arent your field of study, have you tried learning new skills pointing
towards the next place you want to be?

University sesificate* no be anything. Raw skills are.

There are small startup companies that one can go to acquire raw skills, that will make one outstanding. If the CVs this guy is submitting is like over 2,000 Cvs submited at every call for recruitment, sorry brov.

People are very creative these days. One individual built a whole website targeting the website of a company she wanted to work at.

Stop sending those bullshit CV, and rethink strategy, you are not Thomas Edison.

As a scholar, you have to look at the source of information to assert its authenticity. The source looks spurious and the amount spent is even way too little to be true. However, this report was done to favor the Apc.

BusinessBusiness Strategies/lessons To Learn From The Life Of A Yahoo Boy by Kagawa(op): 3:20pm On Mar 21, 2015
Many of us are aware of this old adage “Even a broken clock is right twice a day”, if this is correct, then I will not be making much mistake if I say there’s no completely bad person.

Yahoo boys are like the rejects in our society from the perspective of a moral Nigerian. They are seen as the bad eggs. These guys have given us a bad name in the international community, they scam and defraud unsuspecting persons of their resources mostly money. Most online shopping websites have blacklisted Nigeria. Our corporate image has been soiled probably beyond repair. No one wants to deal with a Nigerian… so pathetic.

However, there are lots of positives and lessons that we can learn from them. They are not as bad as some of us think, provided we try to view their actions with an open mind. If you read the following, learn from it. Remember “He that has no sin, should throw the first stone (an account in the bible).

Passion – Someone said “passion is the fuel that drives our vision”, if that is correct, then anything we do without passion will soon wear us out. A yahoo boy has the drive and passion for his trade. He wants to get rich or die trying. His carriage, words, and actions all portray his trade. Little wonder, they can be easily identified in our society. He prides himself in his business and no one can stop him. In some cases he avoids his family members and anyone that decides to talk him out of this dreadful path instantly become an enemy of progress.

Dedication – According to Bishop David Oyedepo, dedication is deadly commitment to a cause. From vocabulary.com dedication was defined as committing yourself to something,” like your dedication to marathon training that had you running every single morning for four months. This is what yahoo boys are known for. They are very dedicated individuals, they understand the nature of their business, considering the fact they try to reap where they have not sown; and as such they have to bury themselves into what they do.

Networking – In my opinion, this is the greatest strength of Yahoo boys. They don’t work or strategize in isolation. They have pubs, clubs and places where they hang out regularly to have fun but ultimately network. Sometimes his networks extend to law enforcement agencies especially the police. When a Yahoo boy identifies a new opportunity (a potential victim to be coned or scammed), in other words, when he catches a new maga, he immediately looks inward to see if he has handled similar scenario before. If yes, his experience will make it easier, else, he looks in his network for more experienced person(s), if the deal is successful, every stakeholder shares the proceeds according to agreed terms. In most cases, Yahoo boys live together, eat together, flock together and even trade together.

CareerTop 100 Best Companies/firms To Work For In Nigeria by Kagawa(op): 1:29pm On Mar 21, 2015
Whether it’s the sweet perks, unlimited opportunities or management structure, there are some companies who just know how to take good care of their employees. Job community site Jobberman released a survey for Best Places to Work, which measured employee satisfaction, overall experience and commitment across employers in Nigeria.

The Best Companies to Work rankings include 50 multinationals , 45 majorly Nigerian companies and 12 government agencies.

To ascertain the companies that were the best places to work,  conducted surveys of more than 10,000  employees in Nigeria. Over 5000 companies were submitted by 10,482 respondents (experienced, entry level and exec management). 89% of those who filled the survey were gainfully employed. Only companies with at least 100 full-time permanent employees were considered.

The index was calculated by getting a weighted average of each recipient’s top 5 companies and dream company to work for. Recipients also selected workplace metrics that mattered to them in making these choices – Company Culture, Salary, Non-Salary Benefits, Proximity to Company Location, Prestige/Company Brand, Management Integrity and commitment to staff welfare.

From the survey results, there is clearly hope for indigenous companies in the next few decades as they continue to grow and dominate the economic landscape amidst existence of established multinationals doing business in Nigeria.
