Hello all. Please, what is a reasonable amount to show as proof of funds for SOWP for the spouse of a worker? The worker is on PGWP and has a good job with an okay salary. I can't seem to find POF information specific to temporary foreign workers.

Hello everyone. I am applying for SOWP for my spouse and SP for my child through my CIC account. My spouse has completed the imm5476 Use of Representative form, appointing me as representative. We are trying to complete the imm5713 Use of Family Representative For Online Applications and am confused about whose information should be entered in Section A as the Family Member Representative. Should it be my information, since it is my CIC account being used, or my spouse's information since he is the primary applicant and our child is his family member?

Determining validity periods
Once an officer has determined that an applicant is bona fide and meets the requirements, they are to issue a long-term study permit, along with a long-term multiple-entry TRV or an eTA, if applicable, for the length of studies plus 90 days or passport expiry, whichever comes first. The validity period of the study permit and the TRV may not go beyond the passport validity date; the eTA will remain valid up to 5 years from the date of issuance or until passport expiry, whichever comes first, regardless of whether this date is beyond the expiry date for the study permit. If an officer has reasons to restrict the validity period of a study permit due to concerns with the case, they should note the reasons in the “Notes” box in GCMS. If this is not done, the border services officers will amend the permit to reflect the full course or program of study.

The above is from the IRCC website. Your study permit should be valid for the length of your study plus 90 days. You need to contact IRCC via web form and email to bring this to their attention. It may have been an administrative error.

I would not recommend using traditional bank statements; MBS is a no-brainer for me. People have, however, submitted scanned statements or other forms of electronically generated statements apart from MBS and received approval. The choice is yours.

I don't see how arranging POF will work given the length of the bank statement required by IRCC. So you're either lucky enough to get someone to give you the funds without charging interest, or you don't mind parting with a large sum of money as interest payment. At the end of the day, any savings you have may be used to pay interest on an arranged POF. This may impact your ability to fund your studies and living expenses.

You know I used to think MBS is requested only if your benign sponsored and your sponsor will be the one to have their MBS send.
I’m asking so because I’m also building my account for my application too. I need more clarity on that. Please.
Also the whole POF thing is becoming more complex, travel Kulture is advising me not to do POF that I’ll be banned.
My agent who doubles as director of my school says I should do POF If my SOA is insufficient for visa application.
• I got someone who can do account alterations for me to have the said account balance i need (10M) but my agent says I’ll be banned for 10yrs if I used a fake bank statement, so I’m confused if what the man want to do will be termed fake or not by IRCC.
I just tire ��‍♂️� since August 25th I’ve been hanging cus of this POF issue and my school have resumed already online.
Please is there anyone in my shoes? How did you do or someone should please advise what I should do about this. I’m just worried that I have not submitted my application yet since when I did my médicale.

MBS can be generated using your bank app. It is completely free if you are the recipient. It is delivered to your email address, and you can access it using your account number or the last four digits of your account number, depending on your bank. Running MBS tests helps you determine the best start date for your POF to show a healthy opening balance... or at least it did for me.

I've always liened my funds...at least since TB and FD rates became unreasonably low. When I submitted my application, my funds were liened, and my visa was granted. You can run a test by generating MBS for your own use.

Please I have concerns about a proof of funds aspect I'd like to clarify.

I am currently working on my bank balance and I have placed a significant amount on Lien. If I generate my bank statement, I always see it as part of my balance but if I check my bank app, the amount is not part of the balance, which is okay by me.

Now I heard that if I do not release the account from lien and I generate MBS to the embassy, that Amount I placed on Lien would also not show in my statement that the VO would have access to. That if I want to do it that way, the best is for me to print and submit the bank statement instead of using MBS.


Please I would like to ask and seek counsel on the best approach towards an issue like this, because someone said I should still use MBS, that there is no problem. Anothe rperson said I should print bank statement and not attempt to use MBS.

Your case of study permit renewal is different from changing a valid visitor's Visa to an open work permit. So, you will need to apply online from inside Canada.

Can I flagpole my study permit extension? My program is for 2 years but I got a 1-year student visa and study permit because of the validity of my passport. I now have my renewed passport. Can I extend by flagpole or do I have to submit an online application?

It's not a big deal actually.

If you're a spouse of an International student (and eligible for SOWP) and you enter Canada on Visitor's Visa, you can go to the nearest border with all the necessary documents to justify your claim. Tell the border agent that you want to flagpole and they will direct you on what to do.

Literally speaking, it involves exiting Canada and entering again so they can issue you the open work permit instantly. Please note that it's legal too and not a case of cutting corners. Note that you will pay some little money for the permit at the border.

Check Google and watch some Youtube videos on that. I think someone here recently updated that s/he did it recently and it's still working.

Am screaming Guys after 65 days of getting medical passed I just got PPR this morning.

I have. Got it a week ago. That's how I found I passed every section except the medical. On my Gckey, Eligibility and Criminality still read as "processing" but I passed them on my file. My medical reads as "ready for assessment" and it was moved to the Central Unit For Medical Admissibility since February and that's the last time they worked on it.

Mine is the opposite. I've passed every section except medicals and I've been waiting for medical update since February. It's been 3 months and two weeks.

I got my request since October and have been requested to offer additional information twice. You'd think that the waste of time on their part would make me eligible for a quick processing after submitting the additional information but here we are.

If you think it's bad, it can always be worse.

I can imagine how frustrated you feel.

I reside in South Africa and have got S/A I.D.
I forgot to add that am a Nigeria but residing in S/A since 2012 but do travels to Nigeria once in a while.

I recently had an opportunity to speak with an IRCC officer regarding the current status of your brother’s study permit application who advised:



The application was received on Jan 28, 2022 and it is at the Nairobi office
The current posted average processing timeline for all study permit applications outside of Canada is 11 weeks (is not a guarantee)
It is in the final review and decision stage – there is no timeline
There is nothing required from him
On April 27th an officer responded to their enquiry
Joy, Mr. Kelly and I hope your brother Isaiah receives good news soon about his application. If so desired, please feel free to contact me again on July 10th or after for another Inquiry to IRCC.

I don’t know what to expect now. Any advice
