Sloan:

Are you still surprised? Like I have theorized before on this issue, Ibos are like a student who feels he has something to prove and has to prove himself in a class of students of far higher intelligence and achievement. As a student who attended one of the best schools for education in Nigeria (OAU Ile-Ife, for example) and outside, I can tell you for sure that almost all the students in my class were always far above average intellectual ability. The students who have higher than average CGPA, not even 3.5 / 5.0, but something on the order of 3.8 and above are usually the ones who do not answer any questions in class except in a discussion where the instructor is eliciting response on previous class assignments or the current one, or ranging issues about the subject matter. The reason why they behave this way is obvious most of the time, a lot of them could be very modest, they feel they have nothing to prove by showing that they know more because their CGPAs tell the whole story, you will hardly see these students discuss the answers after an exam or test, you would hardly hear them tell you their CGPA or they are in first class or in the coveted > 4.00 CGPA region, etc. But guess what? The below averagers, the back benchers who boast the most are the ones who are the "over efficiency", trying to show that he knows something about the subject matter and injecting himself into every conversation he is not being explicitly requested to join.

The same for my secondary school where almost all the students leave Nigeria for the US, UK, etc even before the JAMB results are released and the ones left in Nigeria are heading straight to OAU, UI, UNILAG, etc. These are students who are so bright, you'd question why you are not getting the school prize for a subject after scoring 90%, why because some insanely brilliant students are still scoring 99%, 98% in Further Maths and Physics, your coveted A2, A3 is nowhere to match with students who have refused to score anything else but all A1s! Now, tell me do you ever see those students in your face at every time? NEVER! Except, you put them on the spot and ask them questions, then they will tell you! It was in primary school pupils get applauded by the entire class for answering some questions correctly, after that it is your CGPA that must tell you story.

Now, to drive the point home: Ibos feel and know they are not up to par with the major tribes in Nigeria so they feel they must continually announce their presence as loud as possible all the time. Not only are their states economically backward to some of the states in the SS and the enigmatic West, but politically (power), they are inferior after being bested by the Westerners and Northerners for a long time! The 1967 - 1970 war dealt a heavy blow on the psyche of the ibos, resulting in a calamitous, colossal loss of 3 M in only 2 years 6 months and 9 days, a disastrous outing where the entire biafran army was forced to experience virtually all the offensive military tactics in the book from pincer movements, to flanking, pin downs, artillery barrage, punch through, sickle movements, skirmish, charge, ambush, marching fire, aerial bombardment, blockade, the list goes on endlessly! To make matters worst, they were enveloped and squeezed at the throats as the entire areas they thought they could steal was taken back with such speed and precision, it will make any army cringe with shame! I am saying these so you can know a bit more about why people like Orji Kalu try to satiate their emptily bloated ego by posting pictures from Dubai and swimming pools! I can not imagine what will make Dangote to show you a picture of his swimming pool except Ovation goes to beg him for interview! The same goes for Otedola and Adenuga, people who just refuse to even make a comment about anything except you go and ask them to please say something! In fact, you will have to ask very politely because it seems they care more about what they have to accomplish for themselves, business and family to be involved in any public show like these shameful one. So, I hope you have a perspective on why ibos keep making comments like "ibos are doing well", "we developed Lagos", "we are 90% of the population of Kano", etc.

ketoprofen:

Abia ppl in this forum have always condemned their leaders.
But u and cohorts will not ask tinubu what he is doing with SW IGR.
Only one man tinubu is enjoying the largesse while the rest of u turned to agberos and beggars.
Poverty everywhere .
Abia ppl on the hand, get industrious, take their own fates in their hands; Even as many of the Aba roads are in poor condition, their industrialists/ entrepreneurs are still helping themselves.
.
So don't come here and talk abt the Abians again. Ur ppl are more hopeless

Where do you see agberos and beggars?

We don't need to ask where the Lagos IGR goes, because we can SEE IT all around us in the form of roads, bridges, street cleaning, trash removal, efficient government, improving schools, etc.

Are you seriously going to sit here and compare ABIA to Lagos? Shame on you!

I don't think you can blame Afam for this not being on the front page. I have sent 2 requests, recommending this thread for the FP, but they've been ignored. I wonder why such an important issue would not be placed on the FP - I suspect that Seun or supermods, who are responsible for FP content, have not yet seen the thread or my requests.

It would be a shame if this is not on the FP due to some ulterior motive.

Afam is an open PDP supporter. He has openly stated his bias.

This can be solved simply.

Stella submitted her qualifications to the National Assembly. A simple FOI request will produce the document.

Any Nigerian can submit a FOI request, so hurry and do it.

APC is dead on NL. Dont you get it?

Creating fake profiles will not help you.

Many people have stopped p o sting on NL, due to the obvious bias. The likes and comments are dominated exclusively by Igbos.

You have said it yourself, NL likes usually predict the LOSERS of the elections, never the winners.

Pataki: So Afam you knew the right thing to do huh?

You had better start putting strong caution on your ibo brothers who continually come here to be preaching the divisive politics of religion to Yorubas.

We Yorubas are now way too intellectually advanced for that applesauce.

Nairaland is now Igboland.

Run by Igbos, for Igbos. If you notice, Yorubas and other tribes RARELY post here nowadays.

Seun has ruined this website. Time for a new alternative for Nigerians.

likethat: This is great. I found Obj to be a great man oooo. Just one letter from Obj, more than 5 people had been trying to answer it but they all missed it. There is one thing I know clearly. GEJ will soon beg Obj (The Balogun of Owu Kingdom. The best Army General Nigeria has ever produce). There is one thing about Obj I know I never started a war that he had not finished and strategies how to defeat the war.

GEJ need Obj more than He needs EK Clark, Dokubo, Anenih, Tukur, Bode George. GEJ himself knows that and he will never allow any of his political aide or Old people like Clark deceived him.

All the policies of Rice, Vehicle importation banned wast stopped by GEJ because he knew that most of his aides are working against him.

In 2007 and 2011 the primaries and the election won by GEJ were all machinery were OBJ's own. You all watched the campaign train, how Obj single-handedly cajoled and won people and vote for GEJ.

How will GEJ will start his Election Campaign without G7 and Obj. All the majority population states belong to APC now.

GEJ please dont let Clark deceived you. You need OBJ more than them all.

Now that GEJ and Patience have bombed Rivers, his chances of re-election are finished.

Your are very biased whenever an issue involves an Igbo decent.
I remembered you were among the fellows that called for Sexkillz's head when he was still a moderator; and he
has left Nairaland for you and your folks.
Now, you've turned to Afam4eva in 2014? What is it with you?.

Mind you, Afam is entitiled to his opinion likewise any other moderator on Nairaland.
Afam does not move any thread to the frontpage; He only moderates.

The earlier you free yourself from tribalism, the better for you sad

This is the problem with Nigeria. You turn a blind eye because one of your tribesmen is the one causing the problems. This is not about having opinion, but about being biased as a moderator while simultaneously having a large impact on the election. I DID NOT WRITE A PRO PDP ESSAY, Afam did that all by himself, so I fail to see what this has to do with tribe.

I have never liked Afam as a Nairalander talk more of as a moderator, so don't even go there!

Nothing stops an unpaid moderator to air his political view or opinion or affiliate with any political party. OAM4J is an APC follower and that suits you fine. Mr Jarus, before he left was very active as a member of opposition, so much that a thread was stickied in that section where funds were collated to champion that evil blood sucking man's political ambition. You didnt say nada then o!

My dear, pullover!

Please show me where OAM4J said he was a member of APC. I'll wait...

Lastly, you are one of Adam's biggest supporters. Stop this lying so that you appear impartial.

Aside from the massive abuse of your position (why is one of the moderators of the politics section writing pro-PDP essays?), the substance of your write up doesn't make sense, Afam.

OBJ, IBB, and all those other "old cargoes" are in their 70's 80's and 90's. Most of them will be dead within a few years no matter who is President. Right now, the most important thing is to make sure that we do not create a new CORRUPT class, to replace the old one. That it why GEJ's fight against corruption is so important, and why his inaction is so disappointing.

What difference does it make if FFK is replaced by Oduah? If OBJ and his CORRUPT family is replaced by GEJ and Patience? I could go on.

And before you bring up the Enugu Airport, remember that even as CORRUPT as the old politicians were, even as horrible as they were, even as much as we all hate them, they still managed to build all the airports in the country. The same ones that Stella is upgrading. So please don't excuse her bad behavior because of the crumbs she has given you. Hold her by the same standard as the past leaders, and you will she that she is no different.

People like Fashola and are the only catalysts Nigeria will ever have. Fashola has raised the bar SO HIGH in Lagos, that the voting public will NEVER go back to incompetent leaders. That is change. Instead of supporting people like them, every tribe in Nigeria just takes its turn supporting each successive batch of incompetent leaders because "It's our turn to chop."

If you really believe that Jonathan has brought change, ask yourself this, if he left office today, would the ND start MEND again? Have the poor masses there improved their lot under him? Are they protesting corruption NOW, when it maters? Or, are they silent because it is "their turn to chop"? And when the chopping ends, in 2015, or 2019, will they then turn around to protest the next President because the ND has not developed? Who will they have to blame? What will have changed?

THIS is the cycle that our country is trapped in. GEJ is a perpetuation of it. If you cannot be a performer, you need to fight corruption. If you cannot fight corruption, then you need to be a performer. Everything else is BS. Being younger than the old thieves is not an accomplishment.

Afam4eva:
If you read my post, you'd see that i was strictly referring to the political climate and not governmental policies. Those policies will be instituted only after the political climate has been unadulterated and set free by the old cargoes that have held the Nigerian state captive since the beginning of Nigeria.

Nairaland / General / Seun, How Could You Do This To Us? by Kairoseki77: 2:23pm On Jan 06, 2014
It is disgusting that a moderator of the politics section is openly writing essays declaring support for Jonathan on the Front Page.

This is 2014, the lead up year to our general election, and things will get very heated. Both sides will be fighting to promote themselves to Nigerians. The Nigerian public NEEDS unbiased coverage, so that they can make an informed opinion. That is their right as human brings living in a democracy. Don't you think Nigerians deserve it?

I know that you do not consider Nairaland to be a news site, but you are lying to yourself if you deny that millions of people use NL as a primary source of news. Whether you like it, or not, this website will have a large impact on the election. Because of that, you have a responsibility to use that power with at least some integrity. As of right now, we can no longer trust the impartiality of Nairaland' s political coverage. Afam is biased. We have said it many times and have been ignored. Afam has outright lied abut being impartial. His bias can no longer be denied in any honest fashion. This is very sad and heartbreaking, considering that he (by virtue of being a politics section moderator on NL and a curator for the FP) will have a LARGE impact on the future of our country. That power derives from YOU Seun, and no one else. And I know you love to absolve yourself of responsibility when it comes to your moderators, but that is no longer an honest option. You MUST take responsibility. Not because you have to, but because you should want to.

A few days ago, Afam4eva wrote that he was "the most Igbotic person on NL", he keeps threads in the politics section that do not belong (for example, posts about masquerades and the beauty of certain SE states), while similar threads concerning other regions are moved. The SE population of the politics section KNOWS that Afam4eva is biased, and they often run to him for favors. He openly declared that he was going to vote for Jonathan in the 2015 election, just a few days ago. There are plenty of past actions that would indict him as biased, but none as damning as his own words, which are currently on the Front Page.

Nairaland can no longer be trusted as a source of unbiased election coverage. Seun, you should be ashamed of yourself for these consistenty poor hiring practices.

Finally, I would just like to note that I am not mad. Just deeply disappointed. I thought you were better than this. You are incredibly intelligent Seun, anyone who reads your blog would know that, so you cannot claim daftness as an excuse. Do the right thing. Please.
