jcomolade:I should say congratulations. what the lady said is not practicable. IRPM cut off is far far lower than that by a mile. |
adebayooye:I just told you that about 90% is by merit, the rest is for other criteria. 100% cannot be by merit. it not possible. Even you dont base your decision 100% on merit. Now, whether you like it or not that is how its been done everywhere, even in US and Canada schools. there is less cut-off for europeans than third world countries. Guy, even you do the same thing in your house and workplace. there is a reason why there is catchment areas, less educational areas, all these are other criteria am talking about. e.g a Unilag graduate will be very favored in these admissions, why, its son of the soil. do you know, marks are allocated for just being a graduate of Unilag? success is not by merit ONLY, otherwise some people would not be your governor talkless president what about the Prof that works for Dangote as drivers? until you start to hone your social skils and knows that merit has its place and other skills has their place too. as you siad if 60 is cut-off the next set is 59. if its that straight we wont be here discussing it. that guy that scored 59 as soon as he didnt make the cut-off mark, he is equal to the guy that scored 40. until you start seeing it that way, you wont fight for a place. have you ever wondered why grades are fix like this? A- 70 and above B- 60-69 C- 50-59 D- 45-49 E- 40-44 F- 0-39 dont you think its unfair and CORRUPTION for someone that scored ZERO to have same marks with someone that scored 39? or someone that scored 70 to have same marks with 99? academically 0 & 39 are the same grade. its not bad, or corruption, its called grading system. likewise, if you dont meet the school cut-off whether 59 or 40 for example you are the same. so who gets admission depend on who wants it more. why some people sits at home crying and bemoaning their destiny others start reaching out to people who can help them now, most times is without money for your information. Nobody owes you anything, you must at all times strive to be excellent, but if you cant get first class and you got 2:1 or 2:2 you should deploy other resources/skills to help you compete. dont forget exams are not the true test of knowledge and abilities. becos you score 60 and i score 52 dont mean you are more brilliant than I am. many things could have led to my performance on exam day, which on normal day, I will do better. that is life for you. |
lopzy:Results + Admission list yes the results are ready and many people already checked theirs and some happy others not smiling. but some marks will still be added as the results are raw marks. so expect good news any time T. |
ibadanfinest:Hi Ibadanfinest. You opened a jar for discussion in your submission above and i will like us to rub minds. I think we should look at it this way. What is the purpose of cut-off marks? to eliminate the crowd? right. that does not mean those people did not pass the exams. they were screen out because there is no space for everyone. At this point, other criteria comes in to help you. how you go about it its your prerogative. Apart from your intelligence there are other resources that helps you successful in life. Have you not seen some first class who you take tutorials in your undergrad days and they still score higher than you? I know so many first class that you are sure you are better than, but they made first class and you did not. how come? Other resources at play. Lets take Unilag for example, 40% is the pass mark for all admission both UTME and PG, its in the school constitution document. if you score below that mark, even the president of Nigeria cannot help you. if a dept has 200 applicants and the school has space for 75 people naturally they will use cut-off to eliminate. Now, they wont pick all 75 from merit(cut-off) they may pick about 90%, say 65. the rest 10 people will come from below the cut-off marks but above 40%. so dont be surprise if the cut-off is 61% and somebody with 43% is admitted while somebody with 59% is not. Both 43% and 59% passed the exams and are qualified for admission, but the 43% candidate has other resources to help him get the admission which he employed. Is it fair? That is subjective. Life is not and will never be fair. Even God says, Jacob I love and Esau I hate while they were still in their mother womb. Let personalize this, if you hear there is any good thing somewhere, who will you call first? your friends and family, right? Does that mean others (who are not f&f) wont like such good things? they will, but you didnt contact them. you went first to F&F why? we tend to help those we know first, its human nature. so the school, even from its secondary school admission (ISL) gives some slots for F&F that scored above 40%. note not all. In summary, knowing someone that will help you is a good thing, if you are qualified to be helped. everyone needs someone in some point in your life to introduce you or push you to success. a child needs the mother Buhari needed a Tinubu Jesus needed John the baptist BUT the issue here is ARE YOU QUALIFY TO BE HELPED? or to put it bluntly, DID YOU PASS THE EXAMS? and if the person scored above 40%, whether you like it or not the school says the person passed albeit did not meet the cut-off. Hope this will get some people thinking now. that is why the bible says, the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong but time and chance (opportunities) happen to them. In the eyes of the UNILAG LAW 40% and 70% are the same. As I will always say, First Class does not mean you come first to class. Hope it helps |
its show time guys!!! |
braine:Lolzz. I heard it was not cool at all. but funny the cut off cannot go below 40. that is the lowest fixed by the senate. sometimes when things go bad, they actually will help some people. lets say the highest is 35/60. after adding other grades from experience, bsc grades and etc, 35 could go up to 70/100. that is the beauty of these exams. Like last year, many people complaining now will be surprised your name is in the merit list. it happens every year. |
Aseneshii:This was not necessary he needed help. if u cannot don't mock him. for all u know he is in an uncomfortable situation Always try to look beyond pettiness and add value to others that is the purpose of life. someone is drowning you are checking if his grammar for help is correct or not. not civil. |
HALLofFAME:what u need is to take a copy of your form and text message to venue. simple, dont fret about it |
adebayooye:WRITTEN PAPER do not need to be scheduled in their exam pass, they sent you sms right? to inform you of time, date and venue, that is all, just print your exam pass like that and take for identification. This was the same issues last year until it was cleared by an official. ONLY CBT need to be scheduled becos they will be writing exams at various time, unlike written exams, which will be at the same time by all candidates. The site has been down since yesterday due to high traffic, the hosting is very small. But i think its ok now. HOPE THIS LAY TO REST ALL EXAM PASS ISSUES. Hope it helps. |
poopola:without exam pass, no exams o. so get yours and print in colored. application and take to the venue of exams tomorrow but e ready for some delays |
DSpokesMan:i said earlier, FOR NOW, only CBT exams are scheduled. WRITTEN exams will be done from this weekend. so no cause for alarm |
IsiAbuncha:yes, the aforementioned course requires just 3rd class for eligibility. |
olasanni:lol. just go with calc, but you might not be allowed to use it. so start rehearsing without one. some people did this exams last year without calculator. so its normal with UNILAG. But i think this will only apply to CBT guys, written might use one. |

Sheggy13:Mphil is min ranges between 2 years sometime 3yrs. For fees is normally like the Msc fees for that course. the difference is that you pay that fee yearly as long as the program last. for PHD is min 4yrs sometimes 6yrs depends on supervisors. to convert you need to apply and there is a min accepted CGPA you must have to get in. there is no online prospectus, but u can get one from the PG sch if u so desire. MPHIL is purely research based no course work. I hear the portal is already closed by today. Hope it helps. |
