Your GRE score is very ok, I had 303 and I still got admission and GA and same with my friend. You just need to search for schools. I think anything above 300 is good. Most schools look at your CGP, SOP and recommendations before even considering GRE. illumined999333: |

The purpose of Nysc is primarily to inculcate in Nigerian Youths the spirit of selfless service to the community, and to emphasize the spirit of oneness and brotherhood of all Nigerians, irrespective of cultural or social background. In other words, to unite Nigerians. This is supposed to be achieved by having people serve in an ethnic region different from that of their origin. But this has not been so in recent years. People choose where they want to serve, even after Nysc deploy them to a state, they redeploy to the state of their choice without even meeting the redeployment criteria. One other purpose of this scheme is to develop Nigerian youths. How is this achieved when almost everyone is posted to teach in schools irrespective of your course of study. Multinational companies don’t accept corpers, most Indigenous companies and federal agencies reject them too except based on top connections. Now, let’s look out the money spent on corpers yearly. In 2018, Nysc mobilized 297,293 corpers and paid them a total of N67, 383,359,602. About N11,651,846,453 was spent on Corpers Kits, transport allowance and feeding in Camp. All this sums up to about N79,035,206,055 spent on Nysc in 2018. Why spend so much on graduates in 1 year and send them back home to be jobless?? Imagine this amount being invested on Manufacturing, Agriculture and ICT yearly. This will generate so many jobs for these graduates to engage themselves in after school and also add to government revenue. There are so many non-functional manufacturing and agricultural companies in Nigeria, why not invest all this money to this sector to create jobs and improve national Inputs? The Ajaokuta Steel mill is a perfect example. In 2018, Nigeria spent $618.9million on Iron and Steel Importation while we have where we can produce this, create more jobs and save more money in the future. China is the world's fastest growing economy today because they are the world's largest manufacturers and exporter of goods. In Nigeria, we have oil but in 2018, Mineral fuels including oil products made up 29.7% of our total imports. Below is What we spent on importation 2018: 1. Mineral fuels including oil: US$10.8 billion (29.7% of total imports) 2. Machinery including computers: $5.2 billion (14.2%) 3. Ships, boats: $3.4 billion (9.4%) 4. Vehicles: $2.2 billion (6.1%) 5. Electrical machinery, equipment: $2.1 billion (5.6%) 6. Plastics, plastic articles: $1.4 billion (3.8%) 7. Cereals: $1.2 billion (3.3%) 8. Fish: $686.5 million (1.9%) 9. Articles of iron or steel: $681.9 million (1.9%) 10. Iron, steel: $618.9 million (1.7%) Most of this things, we can produce here. In summary, my point is that NYSC should be scrapped and the money spent on the scheme should be invested in the manufacturing, Agricultural and ICT industries to create more jobs, improve national input and boost the economy. Almost everyone who has undergone NYSC understand it’s a total waste of 1 year and after that, you still go back home hopeless and jobless.
